I called it rapey. And while I think the term is often misused, I don't think it's misused in the case where the guidance is for a guy to continually ensure that his date is provided alcohol until she makes "bad decisions." If you don't like the word rapey, we can use lots of other words to describe guys who use that tactic. Gross. Pervy. Creepy. Pathetic. They all work. No, AJ, they called it "rapey." It's a Jezebel/culture of rape thing you wouldn't understand.LOL at kids getting drunk and screwing constituting "rape." The world needs all the false rape accusations it can get.

I think the inclination to frame it like that and to set out to "get her drunk" rather than just do whatever you all do and let the cards fall where they may, knowing that alcohol lowers inhibitions, is creepy/pervy. But acknowledging that a lot of sex happens that might not otherwise happen with the introduction of alcohol is hardly shocking or inappropriate.I called it rapey. If he's 21 or 22, my view of the scenario changes slightly, but trying to get a young woman drunk so she won't say "no" is bad. And I thought the storyteller had the protagonist's age somewhere around 21 or 22. If I am wrong, and he is in his late 20s, thinking in predatory terms about a 20 year old and suggesting he "get her drunk" in order to have sex with her is indeed rapey. It is not inherently rape. Obviously, Em hasn't been the one suggesting this for his protagonist, so this has nothing to do with him or his character.

My church going post was meant to be very sarcastic. As another poster pointed out, there is a lot that can go on between worshipping at church with a young lady and raping her. Some of you are able to take the fun out of every thread.
So really all Em has to do is go to law school and he'sWhen I was a 3L in law school there was a cute blonde 22 year old 1L I met in the church. Turned on the "I'm a 3L, I have a job lined up" magic and an hour later had a date planned for that night. Made reservations at possibly the best Italian joint in St. Paul. I pick her up and on our way we pass an Olive Garden. She exclaims, "Olive Garden! I love Olive Garden. We should go there instead." I complied with her wishes and later she complied with mine.*
*Of course, this all went to #### later when it came out at the next "bar review" session that she had actually been dating another 1L guy that I didn't know about and it became public and she tried to save face so it all fell apart. That night then I met another blonde 1L in her 30s who explained to me, upon learning about OG girl, that she had better taste in things. She wasn't kidding. Ahhh, law school.
taking girls to Olive Garden. That wasn't what was said though. He said 'it's too bad she's underage for drinking' as one statement and then said why: 'drunk girls have less inhibitions' as another. None of that is advice to get an underage (for drinking) girl drunk so he can force her to bang. It's just an observation.Ramsay Hunt Experience said:I called it rapey.
Some of you are able to take the fun out of every thread.![]()
I agree with Doc, but this was funny.
Someone said in response to the statement that she's underage that he should find a way to get her drunk so she'll make some bad decisions with him. And while I think the term is often misused, I don't think it's misused in the case where the guidance is for a guy to continually ensure that his date is provided alcohol until she makes "bad decisions." If you don't like the word rapey, we can use lots of other words to describe guys who use that tactic. Gross. Pervy. Creepy. Pathetic. They all work.rockaction said:No, AJ, they called it "rapey." It's a Jezebel/culture of rape thing you wouldn't understand.Apple Jack said:LOL at kids getting drunk and screwing constituting "rape." The world needs all the false rape accusations it can get.
Ew, that's like, rapey.
It's also ill-advised because it's exactly the situation that accusations of date rape, whether you find them valid or not, spring from.
I think this is all relevant. "Call, don't text, feel free to Olive Garden, try not to be rapey."Cliffnotes for anyone just now joining in:
OP: "Hey guys, any tips on how to pick up this girl?"
FFA: heated debate on phone calls vs. texts, followed by the pros and cons of Olive Gardening a girl, and then an in-depth review on the semantics of rape.

   and your point is?
I believe the polite thing to do is take her to Olive Garden before raping her. Oh, and call, don't text.Cliffnotes for anyone just now joining in:

You know that big lump of fat on the back of your neck. Doesn't bother me in the last. Yeah. I can see why this would get a woman to want you.You want to impress her? Find the one thing that she likes the least about herself and let her know that it doesn't bother you in the least. Let me give you a "for instance":
Does she have, like, a dead tooth? You know, the kind that's kinda blue and maybe it's chipped a little? Well, the next time you see her, say to her, "You know, I bet a lot of people stare at that tooth." (At this point you should sort of point to the tooth, but not really) "I just want you to know that it doesn't bother me."
You may have to improvise if it's not a tooth. It might be a scar, a lazy eye, a missing finger....you get the idea. She'll be putty in your hands.
