I thought it was cool as a kid but yeah, it's pretty bad.Rocky's ridiculous speech at the end of this is  So unfortunate. It almost ruins the entire movie.Rocky IV is on CMT.

First Blood was an important flick at the time. Get Carter, Demolition Man, and Cop Land were legit, too.Rocky 1 & 2 were all-time classics. Most of his roles after that were in less serious popcorn movies, action flicks, comedies, etc. The notable exception being Cop Land which was a very good movie and he was good in it. A handful of the rest were reasonably entertaining but hardly anything great, and a few like Cobra and Rocky 5 were egregious. Overall he's a lot closer to Steven Seagal than DeNiro or Pacino IMO. Iconic as an action star but also a bit of a punch line and a caricature. He's had a lot of bad movies, but a lot of good ones, too. He's had at least on great movie in every decade since the 70s. Assuming he has a great one in the next few years. And I will forgive him almost anything just because he wrote Rocky.Definitely my favorite after the Rocky movies. Overall his career has been a bucket of ####.Demolition Man, not even close either.
Was nominated for both writing and acting at the 1976 Oscars. He lost both but Rocky took home the awards for Best Editing, Directing, and Best Picture.I had no idea that Sly wrote the Rocky and Rambo movies.
I thinking writing Rocky is when his career took off. If I remember correctly, he was only making the movie if he played Rocky. It's kind of cool that he created the character. Who better to play it than a New Yorker who created it.I had no idea that Sly wrote the Rocky and Rambo movies.
He was so poor that he was forced to sell his dog that he loved. Within a couple of days he managed to sell the movie and went and bought back his dog for like 10 times what he sold it for.I thinking writing Rocky is when his career took off. Good info here.Shatner! said:The Party at Kitty and Stud's and Score
Stallone had his first starring role in the soft core pornography feature film The Party at Kitty and Stud's (1970). He was paid $200 for two days' work.[17] Stallone later explained that he had done the film out of desperation after being evicted from his apartment and finding himself homeless for several days. He has also said that he slept three weeks in the New York City Port Authority bus station prior to seeing a casting notice for the film. In the actor's words, "it was either do that movie or rob someone, because I was at the end the very end of my rope".[18] The film was released several years later as Italian Stallion, in order to cash in on Stallone's newfound fame (the new title was taken from Stallone's nickname since Rocky and a line from the film).
At the Ken Norton - Duane Bobick boxing match in 1977.
Stallone also starred in the erotic off-Broadway stage play Score which ran for 23 performances at the Martinique Theatre from October 28 November 15, 1971 and was later made into a film by Radley Metzger.
If they made a movie about this I might cry.GroveDiesel said:flapgreen said:He was so poor that he was forced to sell his dog that he loved. Within a couple of days he managed to sell the movie and went and bought back his dog for like 10 times what he sold it for.
My favorite as well. Also starring Sandra Bullock (before she became super popular IIRC).Demolition Man, not even close either.

Sure, you guys can mock it now, but without that scene we probably still have the Berlin Wall.I thought it was cool as a kid but yeah, it's pretty bad.Rocky's ridiculous speech at the end of this is  So unfortunate. It almost ruins the entire movie.Rocky IV is on CMT.

"Genetics". One of my favorite one-word lines from a movie.First Blood. also Tango and Cash.
He didn't write the book, but he co-wrote the script.Stallone didn't write First Blood, and the original book has a very different non-Hollywood ending.
