Build a FRANCHISE draft (1 Viewer)

On a side note I realize I have selected 5 rookie linebackers between my two teams. I guess I just feel that there aren't that many exceptional linebackers in the league (probably because it's a passing league now) and I'd rather gamble on their athleticism rather than taking an established vet early. I think this could really pay off for me if these guys (all of whom should be 1st or 2nd rounders) all start for their real teams.
Honeslty to me the rookies have ruined this exercise . It becomes a crutch & is kind of lazy. But thats just me
In hindsight i would have separated the drafts, with the rookie draft random after the vet draft, or based on votes (reverse order of expected finish year one). But I've certainly taken my fair share of rookies.

:goodposting: I wish we had separate drafts. I believe I was for that before we started. Integrating the two though has led to some interesting strategy decisions though.

In the past we always did rookies separated......just seems easier and you get a clearer picture of your team needs and player ability and value after real NFL draft

21.14 OG Justin Blalock

Can fill in at tackle in a pinch, so we'll see what's around later; may move him over.

edit because I can't spell

30 mins is up anyways. I PMed Nate to let him know he's up.

I also texted Whicker who said he's a skip for this round, so I PMed Nucker101 who is now on deck.

I think Exalted One is on much more than I am. Would anyone object to me giving all the numbers to him, and let him "run" this thing until we are done?

21.21 Cincinnati Bengals select Robert Woods, WR

After a great pro-day workout, Woods is already rocketing backup the draft boards. He slipped due to lower production in his senior season, but I think that was due to the entire offense being down and Marquise Lee getting more targets. This guy catches anything thrown to him and he's a savvy route runner. According to some scouts he's the ideal slot receiver, and I think he has potential to move outside if Tate doesn't step up.

Offense
1.12 QB Matt Ryan
6.12 RB Arian Foster
3.21 WR Michael Crabtree
18.12 WR Golden Tate
21.21 WR Robert Woods

Thank you 8 for your time as our commissioner.

Make up pick:

21.18 Cardinals select Andrew Hawkins, WR

As I said before, the goal of my offense is to utilize short passes to keep myself ahead of the down and distance and keep the chains moving. I will try to utilize Hawkins similar to a Sproles/Cobb; lining up in the backfield, slot, etc. He's adept at finding space quickly over the middle of the field and is elusive enough to make things happen after the catch. He will also contribute on special teams.

Offense:
6.15 Jason Peters, LT
7.18 Rodger Saffold, RT
9.18 Brian De La Puente, C
10.15 Cecil Shorts, WR
11.18 Keenan Allen, WR
14.15 Larry Warford, RG
15.18 Heath Miller, TE
17.18 Malcom Floyd, WR
18.15 T.J. Lang, G
20.15 Matt Flynn, QB
21.18 Andrew Hawkins, WR

Defense:
1.15 Geno Atkins, RE
2.18 Muhammad Wilkerson, LE
3.18 Daryl Washington, ILB
4.15 Ryan Kerrigan, OLB
5.18 Brandon Carr, CB
8.15 Star Lotulelei, NT
12.15 Thomas DeCoud, FS
13.18 Reggie Nelson, SS
16.15 Mike DeVito, DE/NT
19.18 Jabari Greer, CB

Exalted is our new "commish". Thanks to everyone for being very timely.
Thanks for getting this started. I've got this open all the time M-F 8-4 but I'll need everyone's help to keep this thing rolling in the evenings/weekends (PMing the next guy, or ebok texting)

Hopefully we can keep up a pretty good pace and actually finish it.

So guys I think we'll go for a 30 minute clock M-F 10-6 EST from this point forward. Weekends 10-6 will be 4 hour clock.

When you post please include whether you PMed the next person.

Also just to make things easier to keep straight please include your pick number with your pick.

Thanks!

Giants select -

21.31 - Amari Spievey , Safety

Despite his arrest and injury I like the talent , youth and value he brings at this spot in the draft.

21.32 Saints select Nick Roach, SLB

22.1 Saints select Chris Culliver, CB

Roach is my need pick of the turn. I need a OLB and Roach has been solid but unspectacular at SLB and MLB for the Bears. Culliver will be my nickel CB always playing on the outside (Webb and Harris Jr. excel in the slot). He has had his ups and downs but I like his upside.

Edit:
Updated roster:

Offense
QB Aaron Rodgers 1.1
HB Frank Gore 17.32
WR Dwayne Bowe 8.1
WR Pierre Garcon 10.1
WR Reggie Wayne 12.1
LT Marcus Gilbert 18.01
LG Kory Lichtensteiger 13.32
C Will Montgomery 9.32
RG Chris Chester 11.32

DefenseDE Michael Bennett 5.32
DT Jason Hatcher 14.1
DT Kendall Reyes 15.32
DE Dwight Freeney 16.1
SLB Nick Roach 21.32

FS Eric Weddle 3.32

Giants select -

22.2 - Arthur Jones , DE/DT

Jones is a promising young lineman who is big and versitile....will allow a fluid transition to from 4-3 to 3-4.

Finding Jones was availible allowed me to grab BPA and injects some youth into a veteran line.

Skipping Skeletore and Fubar since they didn't make their round 21 picks yet.

22.05 Vikings (8ebok) select Mario Manningham, WR

I texted RBM and Instinctive

I change Culliver to Chris Cook, CB. Similarly to Culliver, his upside is enticing and this is a value if he cleans up his off the field problems.

Offense
QB Aaron Rodgers 1.1
HB Frank Gore 17.32
WR Dwayne Bowe 8.1
WR Pierre Garcon 10.1
WR Reggie Wayne 12.1

NY Giants Roster Update -

QB - Andrew Luck

RB - Steven Jackson

TE - Tyler Eifert

LT- Jake Long

LG- Evan Mathis

RG- David DeCastro

RT- Sebastian Vollmer

WR- Steve Smith

WR- James Jones

WR- Leonard Hankerson

LB- Brian Cushing

LB- Rey Malauga

LB- Manny Lawson

LB-DL Mathias Kiwianuka

DL- Darnell Dockett

DL- Randy Starks

DL - Sedrick Ellis

DL- Arthur Jones

CB- Leon Hall

CB- Brent Grimes

SS - Barry Church

FS - Amari Spievey

So far I think I put together enough protection and weapons to make Andrew Luck extremley successful ..... complete running back and wide recievers that compliment each other nicely.

Defense should be aided by the return of a healthy Cushing and Grimes....and focused with a deep line led by Darnell Docket.

Think this team is very good on both sides of the ball and is as complete as anyone right now.

With the 22.9 pick, the 49ers select G/C Travis Frederick

The versatile guard from Wisconsin is the top-ranked center prospect in the draft, or the 3rd or 4th best prospect at Guard. He will start his career at right guard for the Niners, where his run blocking will be an instant asset to Trent Richardson and our team.

I like this pick. I really considered him instead of Lilja back in round 20, but wasn't sure he was quick enough for the zone system.
