19.20 Patriots select Quintin Mikell, FS
Free safety? He's a much better fit at SS playing in the box.
Haha, you saw me sneak that in there. To be honest, I don't like any of the free safeties left. Not at all. I don't really know what I'm going to do here, but I'd much rather have Mikell and Pollard on the field at the same time and have liabilities in coverage rather than signing a free safety that I don't think should starter in the league. I don't know what the solution is, I wish I could say I'd get the corners to play looser in coverage, but with Asante taking risks here and there, I know we're going to get burned from time to time. Hopefully our pass rush can be near the top of the league can help mitigate these risks. To be completely honest, I probably would have been better off taking a free safety when I took Pollard and grabbing Mikell now, but you live and learn.

I'm not in a rush .....

19.31 Giants select -

Barry Church , Safety

Cowboys never recovered from the loss of Church ....only 25 and looking to recover from last years injury and has some talent....fixed a need nicely thks late.

19.32 Saints select Blair Walsh, K

20.1 Saints select Travis Kelce, TE

I really want to earnestly be able to say I picked a truly great player this turn so I am opting to take my top ranked kicker. :P . In all seriousness, I simply think Walsh is the biggest difference maker available and is a player who could thrive in this league for 10-15+ years. Blair Walsh was clutch and showed off his big, accurate leg last year. One instance of how good and clutch he was last year was in the Vikings/Jaguars game where Walsh made a 55 yard field goal at the end of the 4th quarter to tie things up. In OT he hit a 38 yard field goal to win the game and was 4/4 on FGs for the game. For the season, he was 10/10 from 50+ with a long of 56. He's great at kickoffs also and just turned 23. I already know some people will consider this a reach and I can see their point of view. My perspective is that in a league with no salary cap, being able to lock up a top player at his position for 10-15+ years is worth the premium and better than waiting too late. At the positions where I still need a starter, the top of my board is filled with veterans who can maybe remain average for a couple of more years. No thanks, give me the top, young kicker. :)

Kelce rounds out my offense. I don't like any of the veteran tight ends remaining and based on the different reports I have read on him, he's a very high risk/high reward gamble. If he hits for me, then my offense becomes a lot more dangerous overall. He could bust but I'm hoping the talent around Kelce brings out the best and motivates him.

Also thanks for sending me 3 PM's saying it was my turn. One would have been sufficient. :)

Make up pick...At pick 19.24, the 49ers select MLB Pat Angerer

Dude was great 2 years ago...injured last season and never really rounded back into form. Still very young.

Good pick. I'm realizing that there are a lot more quality linebackers than D line men.

20.6 Bears - DJ Swearinger, S

Loved him on Deadwood

Let's all pm Instinctive
:) 20.7 Rams select Daniel Fells, TE

I think he might be one of the only players this late who actually is elite. He is one of the best blocking TEs, in both facets of the game, year in and year out. With this OLine, I'll need him in there (which is good, because he can't really catch all that well). I'm envisioning Danario going deep, Cameron as a receiving threat, and a whole lot of Ryan Mathews. Man this offense does not look good. At all.

I agree, too unbalanced of a team to be one of the best IMO. You regret not taking a QB early and going for a more balanced approach?

Lol, awesome D though. I'm envisioning danario injured, Cameroon a bust, and a lot of Matthews pieces after he breaks. ;)

I regret not taking more OLine when I was taking LBs. I'm ok with Locker, and ok with Danario, and I think Mathews is dramatically undervalued because of his FF reputation. But ideally, I'd be shutting folks down and running it down their throats a la SFO in 2011.This might actually be a playoff team on the strength of the defense alone if Locker develops well enough to hold it together, but I'd actually be ok with trying to get a couple fairly high picks in next year's draft to go OLine. The skill positions will be fine, it's just that line. Right now, I feel like I'll be able to run to the right though, as Osemele is a beats of a run blocker, as is Fells. If I can somehow find a RG who can avoid being a negative in the ground game, I feel like I have a shot at doing what I want well enough to make the playoffs, even if that's nto enough to win it all.

20.12 Cincinnati Bengals select Ryan Lilja, C/G

Lilja has been a solid zone-blocking guard for several years, and in 2012 he stepped in for Hudson at center and was very good. He's a bit older than I'd like (31) but so far he's the only player on this team who will be over 27 years old at the start of the season :)

This new board format sucks because I can't paste in my team from Excel without it screwing up the formatting.

You can't paste the Excel but you can do this :excited:

20.14 Oakland Raiders Select Andre Roberts, Wide Receiver

BPA for me and an elite slot WR. But seriously, I've always liked this guy's talent and ability and IMO he's been held back a bit in Arizona's offense. I'll definitely take him as a slot WR that can work the short and intermediate routes while Julio and/or Moore provide the deep threats for Peyton Manning in this offense. He's only 25 years old and I'm fairly confident that I'll be set at WR for the next few years with these 3 guys, they might not be as good as some of the other WR groups that have been assembled in this draft but should be good enough for Peyton.

QB - Peyton Manning
RB - Doug Martin
WR - Julio Jones
WR - Denarius Moore

WR - Andre Roberts
TE - Dustin Keller
LT- Jordan Gross
LG - Chris Kuper
RG - Chris Snee
RT - Donald Penn

DE - Julius Peppers
DE - Da'Quan Bowers
DT - Kawann Short
DT - Glenn Dorsey
OLB - Ahmad Brooks
OLB - Thomas Howard
CB - Prince Amukamara
CB - Aqib Talib
S - Kerry Rhodes
S - Tavon Wilson

I don't know who the Dolphins want at QB, but I don't want to risk that it's my guy anymore.

20.15 Cardinals select Matt Flynn, QB

When I passed on a QB in the 1st round, I had decided that Flynn was going to be my QB. I understand that his Lions game was a complete fluke, but it doesn't happen if Flynn had been completely lost as a QB. He also looked like an NFL QB in his other start against the Pats in 2010 (23-37 254 yds 3TDs 1INT) as well as in preseason with the Seahawks. I personally couldn't envision entrusting my franchise to one of the rookies this year when there's a guy like Flynn who has proven NFL appearances. So far, two NFL franchises have desired him as a starter, which also says to me that he has the ability to do it (and I'm giving him a pass for the situation in Seattle because Wilson was just that good).

With my defense, all I need is for my offense to keep the chains moving and my defense rested. Flynn will be more than adequate for this. He's highly accurate on short to intermediate routes and can make quick reads. Allen, while at Cal, caught the majority balls within five yards of the line of scrimmage. I want him to do the same here out of the slot. He and Miller (when he gets healthy) will be able to get open on an underneath route quickly and keep the chains moving. Shorts, as he showed last year, is dynamic after the catch and will hopefully turn some of these short routes into touchdowns. Floyd will keep the defense honest over the top and can do damage in the red zone.

Offense:
6.15 Jason Peters, LT
7.18 Rodger Saffold, RT
9.18 Brian De La Puente, C
10.15 Cecil Shorts, WR
11.18 Keenan Allen, WR

15.18 Heath Miller, TE

13.18 Reggie Nelson, SS
16.15 Mike DeVito, DE/NT
19.18 Jabari Greer, CB

With a Makeup pick at 20.9, the 49ers select Travis Benjamin, WR

He has 'elite' speed (actually does...), and had a nice rookie season in the receiving and returning game. Will be nice on the outside in my 3WR sets, and a weapon in the return game.

I like your offense. Brees, cruz, colston and TRich should be great for a few years.

I'm not sure why you have Te'o outside and angerer in the middle.

Mainly due to speed. I think Angerer is faster than Te'o. I like my MLBs to be more of a sideline to sideline guy, and I don't see Te'o filling that role. Kendricks on the Weak side will be able to chase ANYTHING down from behind, but Te'o as my biggest LB will be nice to have at strongside.
