Hmm I honestly had no idea places sold small actual paint samples. She just had a bunch of the paper color swatches and she was unsure how shades went together? And how dark it would make room look, etc. I dunno, I gave my 2 cents but she seems to put more weight on what friends, work friends, etc think.....about a whole bunch of things. Even though-I hate to say it-I'm usually on the right side of things. I guess matching colors is apparently some special skill that laymen like myself don't possess.
oh yeah - you get a small sample bottle paint up 3 different squares then pick.   YOU RUBE!#@@!#!@@#!  ;)

Stores that have single or smaller size items cheaper than bulk or larger size items

example: today I went to buy cat food and single cans were $0.86 or something like that and a 12 pack (also on sale) came out to like $0.88 a can

ive noticed it on other items before too at the grocery store

So weird. Literally just noticed this today. Was buying some nutty bars (more on this in a second). I could buy a box of 24 for 3.99 or a box of 12 for 1.79.

When did they become  a "nutty buddy"???

I sure hope you bought the .86 cans.  Wouldn't want to get robbed.

Years ago Jack In The Box used to sell 2 tacos for the low low advertised price of 99 cents. While their menu listed a single taco at 49 cents. I explained this oddity to people, but they'd just look at me like I had 2 heads.

But that's math!  Scary!

I've caught this on things before.  I personally like it because I feel like I'm ahead of the game due to my advanced 4th grade math skills.

There is absolutely no good reason to share that GD "kid yodels in Walmart" video.

The person responsible for putting that kid in that outfit and making him sing in public should be severely beaten.

I don't understand it. Like 0% of it. And now I'm seeing meme versions of this and have no idea what the deal is.

Happens all the time at the liquor store, I don't get it.

Glenlivet 12, 750ml, $28.99

Right next to it on the shelf is Glenlivet 12, 1L, $55.99, and 1.75ml, $87.99.

WTF? The 750 is 3.865 cents per ML. The 1L is 5.599 cents per ML. The 1.75 is 5.028 cents per ML. The 1.75 is just a 750 and a 1L in the same bottle. Buying them separately is three bucks less at $84.98... But why not just buy three 750s for $86.97 and pay a buck less... and get an extra half liter of scotch, too?!?!?

That's just one brand, but I see it in scotch, rum, vodka, etc. all over the store.
Maybe the more pricey one is the common size that sells a lot, so they jacked the price? Just spit-balling, I have no idea if that's the reason or not.

California drivers: It's totally OK to take the Prop 65 warning sticker off your driver's window after you buy the car.

I don't get it, you buy a nice car and you peel off the all the other dealership stickers and the mileage rating thing and what have you, then, you leave this dumb thing up in your window forever. Years. The lifetime of the car. It's OK to peel that thing off.

Driving to work today I saw a nice, cherry-red sports car, nice lines, recently detailed and gleaming in the California sun, zipping down the freeway, looking good... except for that ugly-### sticker letting everyone know that when he bought the car three years ago, the dashboard outgassed cancer-causing fumes for a few days. Quite pretty indeed.

After that I kept track, in 12 miles I saw eight other cars with the stickers still on. Some were 7/8 year old cars judging by the plates. Why keep that sticker on? You can take it off, idiots.
What a dumb sticker.

Most likely by the child once they have grown.

Neighbor has been running a chainsaw/chipper combo for the last 90 minutes. 7am is too early on a saturday for that crap. Lawnmower, go ahead. I get it in the summer it can get really hot so cutting in the morning has advantages. Snowblower? Sure I get it. Clearing your driveway before it has been driven on is a lot easier and you dont want to get your car stuck in your own driveway.

But a chipper is the loudest damn machine on the planet and the volume fluctuates like crazy so you cant ever tune it out.

Probably wouldnt bother me as much if I wasnt so annoyed with why he is using the damn thing in the first place. For some reason he has declared jihad on pine trees on his lot. Old dude that lived there before was a piece of work, but ever since the city official punched him in the face he pretty much stayed out of everybody's way. He had a 3 acre wooded lot and I actually had never seen the backyard until this week. Now I can see straight into it clear as day. Who wants to see straight into their neighbors yard on purpose? He has either cut down the whole tree or at least removed the low branches on pretty much every pine tree on his property. It has also exposed an old nasty fence that isn't to code and I always knew was there and I know there is no grandfathered permit on file for, but I couldnt really see it so it didnt bother me. Such a no win situation to do anything about here. If I complained to the city about the fence, the guy would probably just rip it out. His dog already runs to the street and then comes into my yard where the fence ends more than I would like. If that thing was gone, he would be in my backyard all the time.

So I will just complain about him on a message board and remind myself we are moving out of this state in a couple years.

Perfect opportunity to go over with a couple of cold beers and use a big muthafooking wood chipper. Those things are fun to use. You can pretend you are reinacting the Fargo scene.

Dude probably rented it for a day, so wanted to get his moneys worth. I tell you this: if my neighbor showed up with a wood chipper on a saturday morning, we would start a fire, roast some hot dogs, drink some brew, and chip the motherfookingsheeeeeeit out of everything in sight.

:headbang:

He has been using it all week. He is pretty much deforresting an entire wooded lot. Move to the city if thats what you want.

Ah.

In that case, take two beers over there. You drink one and throw the other one at his nuts.
So i went and talked to him today while he was outside working.

This situation just went from bad to worse. He is clearing the trees and low lying branches because he bought ATV's for his kids to drive around on his lot.

WTF?  Is his property zoned motocross track?

How old are these kids?  Are they allowed to do that in your state?  It's worth checking.

Not to be "that" guy, but you mentioned maybe he should move to the city if this is what he wants. Not sure what your area is like, but "out in the county" in many parts means things like chainsaws and ATV's. Early on a Saturday seems a little out of order, but living next to a guy with a wooded lot, you had to know the chainsaws would come out at some point. A 3-acre lot seems a little small for the ATV's, but it's his land, why not? ATV's are fun, but on a 3-acre lot, they are going to get bored of them pretty quickly so you won't have much noise to worry about.

As long as he's not an #######, I really don't see the problem here. To really not have to deal with this type of thing at all, it sounds like city living or deeper country living where you can't hear/see neighbors at all might be the solution.

No. I didnt expect that somebody would buy a beautiful wooded lot in a suburb and clear it for an ATV course. I wasnt complaining about the chainsaw noise. I was complaining about the wood chipper noise at 7am on a saturday. I have a chainsaw. I do a little bit of cleanup every year.

I agree that 3 acres will not be enough. They obviously think so too or they wouldnt have been clearing the trees that are right on the property border.

You think they will just stop and get bored. I think they will end up crossing property lines, turning around in the street, and using the off street bike path that runs through the right of way in front. Thats when one of the other residents will likely report them. The first time a woman walking her baby and talking on her cell phone gets spooked by the spawn of ted nugent they will be on the horn with city hall in a heartbeat.

He isnt a bad dude, just moved from a part of the state where i think it is pretty normal to do this stuff. I can see he owns a couple snowmobiles too.

Sounds like you have moving targets soon.  I'd suggest getting paintball guns.

This happened today and thought of this thread.

A toll booth that has no gate and people stop and throw their change in (yes we still have that on some exits here - change or EZ Pass) and wait for the damn I paid the toll light to turn green.

It's .75 - did you put 75 cents in? Yes THEN GO....
