I understand the concept of the amber alert, but I don't think the system is for when an alert is issued for an abduction by a parent.

Oh, yes it is. I have no idea why you think otherwise. A child in danger is still in danger whether or not the abductor is related.

I disagree. It was set up in response to a child kidnapped in Texas and killed tragically by a stranger. IMO, there is difference between this type of abduction and a custody battle.
It is a pet peeve, but I am not saying I do not want to help children by no means.

You would feel otherwise if you were the parent awarded custody and the other parent had severe depression issues and took the kids and fled the state. Had this happen to a friend. Over 30 days it took.

agreed, I just feel it was set up for stranger abductions, where the abductor is unknown.

asking for a favor and getting a response that is clearly a refusal dressed in the disguise of 5 or 6 various reasons why it wouldn't be possible to say yes..... even though they really really really want to help. like, seriously. they totally would, like, totally, if it weren't for these 11 different implausible scenarios which prevent helping.
a simple "i can't, sorry" is fine.

Maybe mentioned already, but on the interstate when a big truck wants to pass another trucker and comes into the fast lane... And can't muster the speed needed to actually pass the guy.
So everyone going 70+ has to slow down and wait for the situation to resolve itself. If you want to pass the guy please do, by all means.. but let's go. Wake up a few more horses and move.

Dump truck drivers that are filled with gravel dropping little rocks all over the place suck. So lazy. Your truck has a built in cover to prevent this. Use it.

Lots of drivers are paid by the mile.In fact I think that is still the norm for long haul drivers.

Since we're on a road related pet peeve streak, I'll add mine. Here in the Twin Cities, city busses have the right away from pulling away from a stop. If they have a blinker on, you are supposed to yield and allow them in to traffic. The frustration is that, like other drivers, bus drivers don't consistently use their blinkers in the same manner. Some drivers pull over to the stop and instantly put their blinker on, so they may be sitting there for up to a minute before actually pulling in to traffic. Others don't put their blinker on until they are going to pull out, and they just turn it on a go assuming traffic will avoid them. Pretty basic interaction with other drivers you'd think they'd be trained on.

I know this guy that has been asking me to help him paint his house for like 3 years. He calls every saturday in spring/early summer literally right when I am heading out the door to take my daughter to soccer. I tell him "Dude, my daughter has soccer on Saturdays." I dont think he believes me. So I just started giving him a laundry list of made up excuses because I got so annoyed with him. I think he got mad at me for that.

Then you'd be wrong.
And they don't issue Amber Alerts for "custody battles". They only do it when the child is thought to be in danger.

Although last night I saw a gal with Washington plates attempt to literally run a guy off the road TWICE because he had the nerve to give her the business because she came within inches of taking his front bumper off when she cut him off with an unsignaled lane change. Scary stuff.

I know this is a common one, but the social media stuff is so beyond obnoxious now. Wife and I went to a play the other weekend and the lady in front of me snapped like 35 selfies with her husband to get just the right angle, then spent a good 10 minutes for the snappiest caption to upload it with.
Lady, no one gives a flying ####. You’re not 20 anymore, you’re a middle-aged woman. The guy looked dead inside during this entire ordeal.

I know I've said it in here before... but it all comes down to people who couldn't care less about others around them.
Case in point... taken to another level:
Was at my son's graduation this past weekend, and people don't think twice/care about being in the line of sight of others just so they can get pictures/video. But the kicker was a girl/woman (maybe 20 years old?) who stood in the aisle for almost the entire ceremony blocking our view. Others asked her to sit/move so they could see... she ignored them. When it was getting close to our son's turn to cross the stage, I asked her nicely once... she ignored me. Asked not so nicely again... she ignored me. My 81 year old dad then yelled at her... "Rude AND ugly... killer combination!"
Turns out she was waiting there to get a clear picture/video of someone who crossed well after my son. When my older 2 kids saw her readying her phone... they both went and stood in front of her... and moved to block her every time she tried to move

Graduations/commencement....the morons who whoop and holler when their kid's name is called, and carry in on so it drowns out the next kid's name. We actually made a game out of this years ago and it makes the ceremony that much better. Everyone goes through the program and picks 10 names and then you rate the noise 1-10, the highest cumulative score wins. There’s a good bit of strategy actually because you want to choose names that sound like they might have boisterous families - maybe a Jamal or a LaMichael. You avoid Asian names like the plague. The biggest thing is the non graduate - you grab yourself a possible big scorer only to find out they didn’t graduate and the program was printed early. This happens more than you’d think.Graduations/commencement....the morons who whoop and holler when their kid's name is called, and carry in on so it drowns out the next kid's name. We had people bring air horns and other crap to the ceremony.
Edit: at my youngest brothers grad a couple of years ago, my dad knew that there was an openly trans person graduating. He grabbed that person and everyone else had no idea. The kid basically got a standing ovation from most of the crowd. Home field advantage for my dad in this case.

I was at a ceremony where they threatened to withhold the kid's diploma if this happened. A few years ago we were at epcot and a squirrel climbed on my wifes foot. She calmly takes her phone out, takes a photo and then freaks out.
A squirrel ran under her car in the driveway a month ago and she didnt want to get out of the car.
The desire to take noteworthy vacation photos is very strong for some people.

When someone is eating and they pull a fork out of their mouth with their teeth closed down on it, and it makes a scraping shink sound. I've tried it to see what it feels like, and it is this awful feeling on my teeth. I associate that sound with the feeling I experienced on my teeth, and it just makes me cringe.

My theory is that semi trucks are the main problems of congestion during rush hour. They should not be allowed in the far left lane. Even if they need to pass, as soon as traffic slows, they cannot speed back up when everyone else does.

What irks me even more is that the guy getting passed won’t just slow down by a few MPH so the guy can pass quicker

This is the bigger thing. Most semi's have governors on them so they can only go so fast. In addition many have GPS trackers that the company monitors how fast they go. It is still annoying but I have calmed down in regards to this as I realize most times they can do nothing about it.

This is what these guys do for a living. They should have it figured out. It really shouldn't be an issue. They can see/anticipate where they are going to struggle trying to complete a pass (inclines. etc.) and should also be able to recognize who is coming up behind them and the effect on them if they aren't able to complete the pass in a timely manner. I think many of them are considerate of this, but some just don't give a ####.
