I might get killed for this but Halloween.  Not for kids but adults.  Yeah I'll dress up (somewhat reluctantly) to go to a party but I'm 48 years old.  I'm not going to dress up to go to work.  I work in a small office (22 employees) and it's already a buzz on what people are dressing up as this year. 

This is the old man coming out in me.  Loved Halloween in my younger single days but now not so much.

I work for a large financial institution, corporate office setting so no person to person customer contact.  I'm still shocked as the number of people (99% women) who show up to work on Halloween in costume.

I'm fine with it if everybody is all in. Or if no one is into it at all. 

Unfortunately, that's seldom the case. Instead, you end up feeling stupid and judged for being one of the few that dresses up or left out and judged for being one that doesn't.

Don't worry. As you age, you'll reach a point where you frankly don't give a #### what others think. It's a rather blissful time.

I couldn't tell you off the top of my head exactly when any of my neices or nephews were born.

Yes! Happened right in front of me going to work this morning. The jagoff made like a seven point turn.

Mr R's family seemed to think knowing everyone's ages was a sport.  I freaked out my MIL when I had no idea how old my parents were.

I did know when their birthdays were, though.

I solved this problem by dressing as a golfer every year. It's the same as my daily attire but with the addition of a visor.

tie a sauce pan around your belt and go as Peter Pan.  I did it one year when I didn't want to dress up.

lol -my SiL is huge into Halloween. They have a big blowout party every year etc etc.  I HATE IT.

There are probably 4 years in a row with a picture of my wife and me. I'm  wearing my hockey gear with "a black eye and missing teeth"

Had a friend go to a "come as your favorite emotion" Halloween party dressed in all black with the largest pear he could find attached to the front of his pants. When asked, he'd tell people "I'm ####### despair"

These last few remind me of a couple that shared one set of army fatigues. One wore the top and the other the pants.

When people stand to the right it isnt hard to get by them. It is the groups of idiots that stand double wide that are the absolute worst. Sometimes fatties block the whole thing and they should definitely be walking.

Okay, this is a legitimate gripe. But it wasn't @Scoresman's point. In his world, they are just there to move people faster and, therefore, you are required to walk.

United Airlines has started to remove all eight moving walkway belts in Concourse C of Terminal 1 at O'Hare. The airline says the equipment, originally installed more than 20 years ago as a convenience for tired, bag-toting passengers, now just gets in the way.

The moving sidewalks, officially called "travelators'' in the airport trade, provide a resting spot for some travelers who while catching their breath can still be on the move. And they're a tool to help more energetic (or late) passengers reach their gates faster.

But there are downsides too. Individuals who do not follow walkway etiquette — walk left, stand right — create traffic jams. And every year hundreds of walkway users at U.S. airports get hurt taking tumbles, according to safety authorities. Meanwhile, children can't seem to resist the temptation to behave like the walkways are an amusement park ride.

Which leads us back to another pet peeve I'm sure's been discussed in here: every GD person bringing bags onto the plane that should be checked.

the reason they snarl, bark and shiver is that they aren't socialized because you're picking them up. let the ####ing dog socialize with other dogs and it will be fine. dogs figure it out on their own.

my medium sized terrier with a ball in its mouth, shaking her tail so hard that her entire back half is wiggling is not a threat to your 2 lb toy pomeranian. your dog was wagging its tail, bouncing around and looking excited until you scooped it up in a panic, started backing up and whining about the dog needing to calm down.

it wasn't until the dog was clutched to your chest, with your voice cracking in fear that your dog started snarling, barking and flipping out. YOU MADE THE DOG THIS WAY.
