the reason they snarl, bark and shiver is that they aren't socialized because you're picking them up. let the ####ing dog socialize with other dogs and it will be fine. dogs figure it out on their own.

my medium sized terrier with a ball in its mouth, shaking her tail so hard that her entire back half is wiggling is not a threat to your 2 lb toy pomeranian. your dog was wagging its tail, bouncing around and looking excited until you scooped it up in a panic, started backing up and whining about the dog needing to calm down.

it wasn't until the dog was clutched to your chest, with your voice cracking in fear that your dog started snarling, barking and flipping out. YOU MADE THE DOG THIS WAY. 

ran in to a new one on Saturday

there's a park across the street from my house that's essentially the local dog park, sans fences. everyone runs their dogs there. lots of people out for walks, pass through and let theirs off leash to roam & sniff the other dogs, etc.

out Saturday for our daily walk.. mine has a ball she will not drop unless i show her that i'm throwing another ball or handing her a treat. if she has a ball gripped in her mouth, forget it. she's not giving it up. she sniffs other dogs with the ball in her mouth and if they try grabbing at it she just trots off.

never had a single problem with her.

lady across the way is walking a beautiful spaniel. bigger than my dog. hers is on a leash. mine is not. my dog trots off to go greet her dog.  both dogs butts are wagging so hard that they could tip over. all signs say this meet & greet won't be a problem at all.

mine gets within... 30 feet give or take and the lady stops, immediately pulls hard on her dog's leash, orders it to sit and steps in front of her dog. as i'm trailing to catch up to mine and say hello she yells "my dog is a great dog off leash! but she gets scared when she's on her leash!"

my dog keeps trotting on anyways and starts to sniff her dog.. her dog looks totally happy and playful but this lady is jerking at the leash and shouting that it's not safe, that her dog is aggressive when on leash and she thinks i should run over and grab my dog asap.  so i hasten the pace to make her feel better. meanwhile the dogs are flopping around like two idiots, sniffing each other and wagging their tails while this lady continues trying to wrangle her very happy, friendly dog.

i clicked my dog's leash which to her means, turn and come to me. she turned and came right to me. the lady stormed off in a huff, trying to drag her 80+lb dog with her.

lady.. it's you who is the problem. stop being the problem.

Another driving one..... morons who drive in the middle of an unstriped residential street.  Yo, d00sh, there is enough room for cars parked on either side of the street and for cars to go in both directions.  Why are you driving in the middle of the street?  This is a huge annoyance right now.

i see what you're saying but that dog gave absolutely no indication whatsoever of fear, aggression or concern. and if the dog behaves off leash..... but has a problem on it, then either (1) let the dog off leash or (2) figure out why it's only trouble when on a leash.

At or below the speed limit if it's a residential street.  Usually below.  I'm not sure y'all are understanding.  If someone is driving in the middle of the street, it forces the person coming the other way to have to move/drive way over to the right, where there are typically some cars parked.  Thus forcing said driver to have to slow down to let the person pass before continuing.

Where I grew up was really hilly, with lots of blind corners and windy roads and limited garage parking.

When driving during the day (when you couldn't see headlights coming around corners) you knew to go slow and yield to oncoming traffic if there was on-street parking on your side that narrowed the road to single traffic spacing. Morons couldn't piece that together, and would swerve into oncoming traffic making one of you have to back up. I'd be happy to sit there indefinitely until they made room.

Yeah, I usually find myself on the flip side of Furley's peeve. I get really annoyed when I'm walking/running with my dog in an area where dogs are supposed to be leashed (which is everywhere other than the one fenced-in dog park in town) and someone lets their unleashed dog come run over. Yeah, my dog isn't going to hurt yours, but she is a pretty aggressive player and I'd rather not deal with it when I'm not there for doggie socialization time.

Of course, I'd just avoid a park that was typically used as an off-leash area, but maybe the lady wasn't aware of that and wasn't comfortable having her dog unleashed without fencing.

One dog off leash and one dog on is a bad combination.

Merging.  Traffic would be better if people learned to merge.  Have some patience.  More of an in town highway so the merge lanes are longer along side the highway.  Not your typical on/off ramp.  If people would give themselves time to get up to speed and align with an opening in traffic it would not slow down traffic as much.  To go along with that, if people would allow those to merge it would also help.  Everyone is trying to get some where.  Not a big difference if you are ahead or behind 1 car.

This is probably more than just a pet peeve, but I’m sick of companies always trying to scam people. I’ve got a 6 ft tall wooden fence for the entire backyard with a padlock on the gate (don’t want kids leaving it open to where the dogs could run out), I’ve got nest cameras, and I work from home. With all this, I’ve still gone through 3 yard companies in the past couple of years because they claim the sprayed for weeds or whatever when they very obviously didn’t. I watched the Orkin guy come out, fill out an “I sprayed the yard sign,” pop it in the ground and leave. When I called to complain they had the nerve to tell me not only did they spray, but that they did the backyard as well.  He didn’t have much to say when I mentioned the padlock and the cameras. It’s infuriating.

It's a peeve because I remember labor day...granted a holiday I get that....But I wanted a haircut..thought maybe the places might be open....Drove to one, not easy to get to (I live in Michigan...any left turn requires a serious time commitment) saw the open sign..Cool...Did my Michigan lefts...pulled in to the lot...Closed.

Said OK.. know another one( it's a chain)...Off I go.....More Michigan lefts once I saw the open sign wonderfully illuminated.   Closed.

That is when it became a peeve.

i need to turn left. why do i have to first turn right, proceed to a u-turn only (no left turn possible, so you can't say pull in to a business parking lot... to do that you have to drive to the next u-turn lane and backtrack) lane with stoplight lane and wait for traffic coming from the opposite direction (that does not have a stoplight to allow u-turners in) to clear???

particularly when i'm facing north and need to turn left... and south facing traffic can only turn left. WHY??????  there's literally no reason we both can't turn left at the same time. WHY???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I've lived in Michigan practically my whole driving life, so it's the norm for me.  Here's the "reasoning" behind it.  Better than roundabouts and SPUIs as far as new-fangled engineered traffic solutions IMO. 

This type of intersection configuration, as with any engineered solution to a traffic problem, carries with it certain advantages and disadvantages and has been subject to several studies.

Studies have shown a major reduction in left-turn collisions and a minor reduction in merging and diverging collisions, due to the shifting of left turns outside the main intersection. In addition, it reduces the number of different traffic light phases, significantly increasing traffic flow. Because separate phases are no longer needed for left turns, this increases green time for through traffic. The effect on turning traffic is mixed. Consequently, the timing of traffic signals along a highway featuring the design is made easier by the elimination of left-turn phases both on that highway and along intersecting roadways contributing to the reduction of travel times and the increased capacity of those roadways.[1]

It has been shown to enhance safety to pedestrians crossing either street at an intersection featuring the design since they only encounter through traffic and vehicles making right turns. The left-turning movement, having been eliminated, removes one source of potential vehicle-pedestrian conflict.[1] One minor disadvantage of the Michigan left is the extra distance required for the motorist to drive. Sometimes the distance to the turnaround is as far away as 1⁄4 mile (400 m) past the intersection. This design leads to each motorist driving an additional 1⁄2 mile (800 m) to make a left turn. It also results in left-turning vehicles having to stop up to three times in the execution of the turn.

A buddy of mine said this was done because its safer---whatever.   It would be marginally more tolerable if it was consistent..but it isn't.  You really never know if you will have to turn right in order to cross the entire lane of traffic to get in the left turn lane so you can hit the Michigan left.

OR

If you will have to continue through the intersection, hit the turn lane, then turn right when you get to the intersection.

OR

Some of them just have regular old left turns.

encountered this for the first time in Holland a couple years ago on Felch Rd. 

the lights, the signs, the need to turn right and then execute a u-turn.  thought for sure i was getting pulled over.  none of it made sense. 

@Keerock's post helps it make logical sense but still.. it's a cluster to troubleshoot the first few times.
