Don't put much weight in what?I wouldn't put much weight in that. Teams are wrong a lot more than they're right.

Yes, and I'm still baffled at how he fell. Has all the attributes and I still think he could be the best QB in the class.Didn't you want Kizer?
Him going as third qb, teams not trading up, etc...Don't put much weight in what?
The Texans have better WR but I think the Bears may have a better offensive line and TE than the Texans do. Both teams have pretty good RB.Better supporting cast too. Easier to ask Watson to lead the team when he doesn't have to do as much.
Why wouldn't I put much weight into what every team in the league and the scouts were doing? What should I put weight in? Again, I'm not trashing Watson. But the guy had everything go right in his final year. Beat the favorite team for the National Championship. Illustrious college career. Still take as 3rd qb and not valued as a top 10 pick.Him going as third qb, teams not trading up, etc...
I think O'Brien is a pretty bad coach, but yeah he at least let his best QB play.Any coaching staff with a brain would do the same. Trouble is the Bears coaches are idiots. Needlessly dragged this out and created drama for no reason, other than to avoid looking like they made a mistake with Glennon.

Texans are so far ahead of the Bears in offensive talent and coaching that it isn't funny. Not even close. The Texans have better WR but I think the Bears may have a better offensive line and TE than the Texans do. Both teams have pretty good RB.
Watson is having to do a lot. His ability to run the ball is opening up other parts of their offense that wouldn't if they just stuck with Savage.
2 completely different situations. Kizer was the #1 qb by most coming into his senior year. Rough senior year. Team was terrible. Coach threw him under the bus. BS about how he had attitude problems etc. Everything went right for Watson. National Championship. Coach that praised him endlessly. Illustrious career.
Seems to me that you only "put much weight into what every team in the league and scouts were doing" when they agree with you (and the time they "agreed" with you it was 10 spots, when they disagreed it was by ~50).2 completely different situations. Nope. I didn't agree with the Trubisky pick at the time. It's pretty well known he was going to be the first qb taken if the Bears hadn't taken him. Still don't agree with Kizer falling.Seems to me that you only "put much weight into what every team in the league and scouts were doing" when they agree with you (and the time they "agreed" with you it was 10 spots, when they disagreed it was by ~50).
Well, you agree with the Trubisky pick now, but we're not really even talking about him.Nope. I didn't agree with the Trubisky pick at the time. It's pretty well known he was going to be the first qb taken if the Bears hadn't taken him. Still don't agree with Kizer falling.
I've already said. Kizer dropped because of a bad senior season and a coach who hammered him. Scouts knocked him more than I did for it. I get it, though. Watson had an amazing career and still dropped to 3rd qb taken. The situations on why they fell are completely different. Kizer didn't fall because he didn't have the talent to be great.Well, you agree with the Trubisky pick now, but we're not really even talking about him.
You said Watson was the 3rd QB taken for a reason (12th overall), counting that as a knock against him, but aren't applying the same reasoning to Kizer going as the 4th QB drafted at 52nd overall.
Your anointing Trubisky as a Hall of Famer before he takes a real snap in the NFL. Ryan Leaf probably said the same thing about Peyton Manning. What's funny?
Point to where I said he was a hall of Famer. I said I think he'll be better than Watson and how it was a silly concept to wait a year on a qb this year. I didn't think I needed to put IMO after everything.Your anointing Trubisky as a Hall of Famer before he takes a real snap in the NFL. Ryan Leaf probably said the same thing about Peyton Manning.
I'm not putting too much stock in anything that the rookie class has done after 4 weeks. I just find it funny the way you call your shots. You're like Babe Ruth without a bat.
In all fairness, you do quote things from other sources, but rarely give credit to the sources. So, you may want to put IMO after everything that is your original thought.Point to where I said he was a hall of Famer. Agreed. Been dragging it out for weeks.Just heard on the radio that they are officially starting Trubisky. So glad they decided right away instead of dragging this out.
Now he just needs some WRs to throw to. I think they perform better with him and I still think Gentry deserves a shot. I think he's still on the practice squad.Agreed. Been dragging it out for weeks.

Just saw that. Exciting stuff. Here you go @flapgreen

That's already Cohen's role. I don't think it's going to increase that much more.Upgrade for Cohen? Rookie QBs tend to rely on the checkdown short passes...
Yeah, we can watch Trubisky get his brains beat in by a really good defense. I wish they would have at least waited until they play the Ravens. The Ravens have a bad defense. So you put the underprepared rookie in with nothing at WR, and nothing at TE. Excellent plan.Just saw that. Exciting stuff.
On MNF as well.Yeah, we can watch Trubisky get his brains beat in by a really good defense. I wish they would have at least waited until they play the Ravens. The Ravens have a bad defense. So you put the underprepared rookie in with nothing at WR, and nothing at TE. Excellent plan.
Sorry for the delay. At workcome on Flap, can we get a title change here???
I was all for sitting him a while as I do think there is growth that can happen on the bench, but the Bears had to put out a respectable offense while he sat, and they have failed to do that. So I guess it's time.
excited, but tempering expectations, because the rest of this team sucks.
There are no scary Ds in the league. No need to wait any longer.Yeah, we can watch Trubisky get his brains beat in by a really good defense. I might temper expectations due to his incredible lack of playing experience.come on Flap, can we get a title change here???

And the lack of weapons, and the piss poor coaching staff, but other than that it should be fine.I might temper expectations due to his incredible lack of playing experience.
This is arguably the worst group of receivers in the league. Unless he has a magic wand to turn the suckage around they will stink just as bad with Mitch as they did with Glennon. Most of these guys shouldn't even be on NFL rosters, leave alone be starting. The receivers will be better with Mitch.
But they can run the ball, so at least they have that threat, which should help the crappy receivers somewhat. Having someone who can deliver the ball more accurately and on-time should help too. This is assuming Trubisky will do that better than Glennon which is a pretty safe bet based on his play this year. This is arguably the worst group of receivers in the league. Who? Thompson and Bellamy aren't NFL caliber wrs. So we're crossing our fingers for Wright and Wheaton I guess. The receivers will be better with Mitch.
You don't think better qb play will make the WRs better?Who? Thompson and Bellamy aren't NFL caliber wrs. So we're crossing our fingers for Wright and Wheaton I guess.
Yeah maybe Wright and Wheaton but I've seen enough over the years of the other two and they're worthless. You don't think better qb play will make the WRs better?
I'm not saying it's a remotely good group. I've trashed Pace plenty for it. I do think they'll be better with a competent qb. I've seen a lot of examples of them being open and Glennon just not seeing them.Yeah maybe Wright and Wheaton but I've seen enough over the years of the other two and they're worthless.
I'd like to see more from Sims and Shaheen.
