Definitely the most enjoyable Bears draft in a while.   Even if the move ends up wrong (very possible) it was fun for the evening to actually make a move to get the guy the Front Office clearly wanted.    I will take it.   The fact that I like Trubisky only makes that better.

No, those were not games shown in my area.   So, I completely understand that my liking of him may be heavily skewed.    But I also liked Cutler, and I also have brain cancer.   So is my opinion particularly valuable?   Probably not, but hey I am a happy guy right now, so I will take it.

If they didn't draft a qb and any of them succeeded and Glennon flopped, Pace was also gone.  May have been his only change at a top qb. Pace thought he had the tools to succeed. He swung for the fences.  Second year in a row he went hard after his guy. 

 
If teams thought Watson or Mahomes  were that great,  they wouldn't have lasted until 11. If bears didn't draft Trubisky, he was still going top 10. A lot of qb needy teams passed on Watson and Mahomes. Remember the Browns were going to try and trade back up for Trubisky.

This was a great pick to be mediocre for a long time.  

Basically every respected football mind on the planet ever, living or dead, has said if there's ONE thing they weigh above all else, it's experience as a starter in college.  There are exceptions to every rule but probability is certainly NOT in favor of Trubisky panning out to be a quality starter.  Of course, only time will tell.  We can revisit in 2022.

Oh Browns. Typical pick for them. They always take a guy that's getting talked about a lot. 

I strongly believe Peppers is not a first round player. Could probably be wrong but just don't see it.

what's the point about being secretive if you're going to sell the farm anyways to trade up and get him

I mean, 11 really isn't that far down, especially when considering the Chiefs trading up all the way from #27 to get Mahomes. And QB needy teams... not really outside of the Jets who have needs everywhere and could be picking #1 next year. Jaguars were always taking Fournette. Titans/Chargers/Panthers/Bengals all fine at QB.

Odds are definitely not in the Bears favor based on history. Junior QB don't fare well at all and here is uncharted territory. A junior with just 13 career starts.

 
Really dislike the Trubisky move. Would have much rather gotten Thomas and taken Kizer(who could easily be better than Trubisky) in round 2.

First off, Warner wasn't a 1st rd draft pick. He was simply a fluke find that may never have happened without a Trent Green injury. For every Kurt Warner, there are a boatload of Akili Smiths and as a jr, he had almost twice the starts.

 
Jets, Bills, Cardinals, Browns, and Pittsburg all may still be in the market for a QB. I hope the Bears can trade down to get their picks back. A couple of good RBs still there too. Then take a CB in the 3rd, and a TE, S, or WR in the 4th.

Warner was in GB training camp but just had too many people in front of him. He was told he needs he some time though he had goods skills. The point being that we don't know what Trebisky will become, regardless of how many starts he had in college.

Can't say I've read an evaluation anywhere near that thought. Trubisky was viewed as the top QB in the draft. The only problem is giving up so much to pick him.

Well, Kizer in his own mind is going to be Cam Newton and Tom Brady rolled into one. I'm sure he didn't mean petulant crybaby, ball deflator, but those were the first words that came to my mind....

 
Giving up third round picks is too much for a franchise qb. :lmao: Sure.

Do you guys not even watch the draft most years? Third round picks don't usually make it. But you guys are using some hypothetical like it's different thus year and the 3rd round is a goldmine. Open your eyes. The Bears have been a wasteland of QBs for decades. Now they finally drafted one who will be able to sit and develop and you're mad they gave up a couple 3rd round picks like it's going to cripple the franchise. They could still trade back and get more picks. Could trade back next year as well. Nope. Doesn't matter. Team is doomed for years because we gave up those 3rd round picks on day 1. Sheesh.

Don't make the team?  The team I follow picked up their starting CB, OT, OG, and S in 3rd/4th recently.  5 of 5 3rd and 4th rounders selected are still on the roster.

If you think he was the top qb in this draft, how could a couple of 3rds and a 4th be too much?  That's nothing for a big time qb. 

 
I still think they need to consider signing Michael Floyd if he has not been already.    He is NFL experienced and probably no worse than #3 on this offense.   

That would be as good as a mid round pick that was traded away....

Never said they wouldn't make the team, guy. Spend even 5 minutes looking at the last 5 years or even the last 10 years of picks in the 3rd round.  Extremely small percentage even turn into significant contributors to their teams.  But you would know that if you looked. Now compare all of those 3rd rounders to a franchise qb.  This is a silly argument that you won't win.

Appears you're wasting your time.  The multiple future hall of fame 3rd rounders in the next two drafts trump any franchise qb. Can't you see that those 3rd rounders were going to make the Bears Super Bowl contenders?!? Smh

You're right. It appears that the NFL GMs felt the same way because they were all fighting to move up to get Watson early. :rolleyes:

Why not just wait a year when next years class looks stupid deep for qb's?

The move made no sense at all.  On any level

 
Props to Flap for being consistent. I wouldn't have drafted a QB there and certainly wouldn't have traded up for Trubisky, but it's clear that he was their "guy", and if that's the case you go get him. Now, they just have to be right, lol.

 
Wentz didn't even go as the first QB and the Eagles gave up a ton for him.  Yet, Trubisky was seen as the top QB in this class and the Bears can't give up a couple Mid-round picks. Right

This is true.  Not to many people harping on the Giants trade up to get Eli after their SB  victories.

Why not wait a few more years until you have the #1 pick and get the next Peyton Manning?  No one has any idea how good next year's class will end up being or if the Bears would even have a shot at them.  That's not how successful GMs make decisions.

He may be a bust, but I would be a hypocrite to throw a fit over them moving up to get him after whining about taking a qb early for the last few months.
