***Chicago Cubs Thread*** (2 Viewers)

Quintana only threw 12 pitches. I would think he starts game 1. Jake game 2. Lester. Hendricks.

Joe needs to find some faith in Rondon and Wilson. CJ and Wade can't throw every day.

Well, Cubs.  The umpires gave you two wins against the Nationals in the NLDS.  Really glad that this under achieving group of losers is not going to be representing the National League in the world series.  Good riddance!  Cubs is done!
Lol.

Such a buster

1 World Series, 3 straight NLCS appearances.

Man! I can't coach with these guys. Get them out of here.

This reeks of Joe not like being told that he's wrong about his in game gaffes.

Keep Jake? Go after Cobb? Both? Trade for Britton or re-sign Wade? If they can get Wilson back on track the bullpen might be ok. Maybe?

Two post-seasons in a row where Joe felt like he could only trust one guy.

Keep Jake, sign Cobb, sign Morrow to close. Add another bullpen guy

Smyly. Morrow. Are they addressing the pitching problem or trying to get a head start on manipulating the 10 day DL?

Cobb next?

Jake to the Nats doesn’t feel right. I was hoping he went to an AL team.

Jake to the Nats is Boris pushing his agenda

no way he ends up there

Addison Reed is supposedly on the radar.

I guess Theo is serious about fortifying the bullpen, regardless of cost. Reed is asking for set up man type of money, but won't have that role exclusively with the Cubs.

I would, too. He's earned it. The potential Cain signing makes me think Almora might be part of a trade package. Maybe for Archer, or Gerritt Cole.
Nowhere for Almora to play in TB, left I guess?  In division Ace trade?  Rare.  I'd prefer the Cubs just make the best offer for one of Yu or Jake.

The Cubs Convention is this weekend, and there were murmurs that a big signing would be revealed during opening ceremonies, but alas that was not the case.

Pete LaCock was in attendance, so that was something, at least.

!!!!!!!!!

The Cubs and Yu Darvish have agreed to terms a contract that will bring the righty to Chicago, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports on Twitter. The deal guarantees Darvish $126MM over six years (though the total value can reportedly reach $150MM), and is pending a physical.

Definitely putting $$$ on Cubs to win series. Almost feels like they are forgotten.  Bullpen worries me a little but Darvish and Quintana as a 1-2 with that lineup is pretty darn good.

Off-season complete.  Not sure I could have asked for a better one.  Rotation and bullpen addressed.  No position players traded.

Happ has to start at 2b right?

bat looks legit
Hard to take one of the best defenders in the game off the field, but from what I've seen Baez hasn't changed his approach at the plate much.

Happ can play everywhere though.  Start him in center against righties.  Left or right against lefties.  Second against guys that will make Baez look silly at the plate.  Good problem to have.

I've been listening to the audio of spring training games on mlb.tv.  :bag:

I am sincerely going to miss Jake. He worked very hard to revitalize his career, and was a rock with the team. That 2015 season was unreal. It felt like every start had the chance to be a no-hitter (I still have on my DVR the Sunday night ESPN no-hitter against the Dodgers).

If it wasn't for those wasted years in Baltimore, and Jake was just a little bit younger, I think he would still be a Cub.

The trade that brought him here ranks second to the Ryno for Ivan DeJesus swap.
