Cleveland Browns (16 Viewers)

Read a tweet somewhere today about the asking price for Mallet being the Browns 1st rounder :lmao:If they do that, or anything close to it, I quit.

There are moments in my browns loving life where hitting my head on a hard surface is justified. If this happens, I will become ####### from all the headbanging excercise.

Here's the LINK for what it's worth. It's just speculative and nothing to worry about (I hope)... But yeah, you never know.

interesting article on the HOF selection process if you're not familiar with it:http://espncleveland.com/common/more.php?m=49&post_id=11941

How about Mallett and the #29 for the #6?

Still awful. Ryan Mallet was a 3rd round pick and has done nothing to raise his stock.

Other than the fact that mallet is younger, does he add any upside that weeden doesn't.If we got him for a 4th or later I might say,why not. Bring the kid in and lets have a competition for that qb spot. If he were currently on this team I don't see him as a lock to beat out weeden. Not saying he wouldn't, but surely not worth a top 10 pick.

I think the fact that he's not caused any trouble in NE and earned the backup job has raised his stock.

There was some speculation out of NE media at the beginning of the season that Mallett only 'earned' the backup job to raise his trade value. Anyway, I like Mallett well enough. I'm not positive, but I think he has a skillset (strong accurate arm?) which fits what the Browns want to do with their offense. Still, like the poster above, I don't see him as any sort of upgrade over Weeden, just another option for competition. I wouldn't bat an eye if they traded their high 3rd rounder for him, but even that makes me a little uneasy.

(Rotoworld)ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss believes the Patriots would trade Ryan Mallett "in a heartbeat" if they were offered an early second-round pick.Analysis: Reiss' response to a chat question about Mallett suggests he doesn't believe the Pats fancy him as Tom Brady's heir apparent. (We don't believe they do, either.) Reiss says he'd be "surprised" if New England got that kind of offer, but it's not impossible. Perhaps new Browns personnel boss Mike Lombardi -- a known Mallett lover -- would dangle the 68th and 101st overall picks.

If Lombardi likes Mallet, you would think he might also like Tyler Bray. Bray could still be there for them at the top of the second.

Living members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame

Cleveland Browns, 7: Jim Brown, Bobby Mitchell, Leroy Kelly, Mike McCormack, Paul Warfield, Joe DeLamiellure and Ozzie Newsome.

I like what they have for the Titans-

Tennessee Titans, 1: Bruce Matthews. He only played 3 years as a “Tennessee Titan,” but counting 2 as a “Tennessee Oiler,” he qualifies for the Titans. His brother, Clay Matthews Jr. of the Browns and Falcons, is not in the Hall, but should be.

Just cut Frostee Rucker
Poor fit in the 3-4, doesn't meet what Horton wants. Big guys that can run or little guys that can hit.
Yea realized that after I posted. Just seems like a typical Browns fumble, guy has a decent season so we cut him
I have progressed to the acceptance stage, I will revisit anger again come march... And then April too. I am sure.

I have not read anything about the Rucker move, but it seems to make sense to get rid of the guy that least fits your new defense when you need less of that position overall on the roster (assuming salary cap issues are not great...we did it yesterday to avoid a roster bonus I'm sure). Not sure I'd consider it a fumble...seems wise.

The fumble isn't dumping Rucker, the fumble is fixing something that isn't broke.

Gotcha. Took it the opposite way based on your comment "guy has a decent season so we cut him". Still, someone had to go (first of a few im thinking) and this seems like the proper move.

Rucker was probably going to lose his job either way since upgrading DE was likely to be a priority even if the Browns had kept Jauron and the 4-3.

In 2008 the Green Bay Packers were a 4-3 defense and ended up 22nd in points allowed and 20th in yards allowed. They were 6-10. In 2009 they switched to a 3-4 defense and were 7th in points allowed and 2nd in yards allowed. They had drafted some guy named Matthews.

interesting read. Could Mike Wallace end up with Cleveland Browns?http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000138181/article/could-mike-wallace-end-up-with-cleveland-browns

Why? Wasn't Gordon pretty good about being the deep threat? He should only get better.
Wallace+Gordon+Little would be really really good IMO. Add in Benjamin and a slot type wr and we finally have a legit wr group.

sounds pretty good on paper.

There is talk around town about Weeden being ideal for Norv's system. What say ye?
Well his biggest strength definitely suits Norv's system: the arm strength to get the ball down field with some accuracy. So in that sense it could be a good fit. He still needs to improve his pocket presence and his decision making before he's anywhere close to an 'ideal' fit though.

Seems like Bowe would be a better fit though if they wanted to add a FA WR.

I think getting Wallace would not only help the Browns, but it would weaking the Steelers and that would be awesome.

Possibly true. I'd be happy with either in a heartbeat. Jennings is 3rd in line...he seems to get dinged too often for my tastes...and I guess Welker.Kruger will be an interesting option as a rusher once the Ravens sign/franchise Flacco.

surprised there hasn't been more talk about Kruger. seems to make sense to bring him in.

Bowe is a great talent, but he comes with baggage. He's had a lot of different issues since he's been the league.
So does Wallace. Last thing this young team needs is diva. Love the talent but Mikey has some "me first" issues. Welker fit in someplace? Good veteran presence that could school the youngens and possibly be a security blanket for Weeden? Spitballin'

The Team has not had a "diva" on the team since Brayon......and I think this team needs a little diva. Weather it's Weeden or Moore or Mallet or who ever they bring in this team needs someone to step up and be the guy.

That's different than a diva. I agree we need a leader, we do not need a "get me the damn ball" guy. On a team lacking veteran leadership (at least that we can see outside the locker room) the last thing they need is someone to come in and divide the locker room like a Terrell Owens of old.
