C'mon parents....stopped with the EFFed up names.. (2 Viewers)

Reminds me of a time when a friend of mine told me a story about something that happened to him at great america. Amazingly I remembered telling him the exact same story about 6 years before that. Crazy that the exact same weird situation happened to him since in no way did I think he was passing off a story that he didn't experience and forgot who actually told the story to everybody.
If he is in his 40's, all bets are off in this regard.  Darn this 40's memory to hell.

A couple in Brive-la-Gaillarde, France, have named their new-born child Griezmann Mbappe but a civil code threatens their tribute to two of France's World Cup winners -- Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe -- being allowed to stick.

Squire Sebastian Senator... and no, that does not include the last name.  According to mom "No this is not his full name. 'Squire Sebastian Senator' is only his first name.  This is how it will be.  He will not be allowed to have a nickname.  He is to be called by his full and complete first name."  Quote taken from the original Facebook post as copied on Reddit from mom's rant about the family's criticism of her name choice.

This could be the first child ever to run away from home before he is born.

let's all agree to ban anyone who says "my wife is a...... and she has a student/patient/client named Oranjello or Lemonjello"

ban them right to the ####### sun

My wife works in the NICU.  she’s seen several unique names:

La’Nauzia

Lil’ Tim De Last (because he was de last kid they were going to have)

Lemonjello (Le-mon-jell-o)

Orangejello (Or-on-jell-o)

La-a (Ladasha)

Abcde (Ab-cee-dee)
So every single "urban legend" baby name has gone to your wife's NICU. Neat!

Every single?  I’m sure there are more.  You can think I’m making it up and it really doesnt matter to me if you do.   Keep in mind she’s been in the NICU for almost 20 years and usually there are 30 babies on any given day, so she’s seen 1000’s of babies and names.  There are people that name their babies ridiculous names on purpose and some that think they are being original.  She sees many unique (to put it nicely) parents.  Many of the babies are in the NICU because their mother is a drug user and those play a role in baby names.

you're definitely making it up

Maybe all of these people work with Wildcat's wife.

Or maybe she's a woman who passed around a story she overheard happening to a friend of a friend of a coworker as something that actually happened to her. I don't know, which is more probable?
Over the years I've had at least 3 people (who did not work together or know each other) that they had a student or patient or knew of a girl named "Syphilis" but pronounced it "Suh fi less".

"The fake stories behind these names tend to follow the same formula: a person (typically female) from an underprivileged group (typically African-American) has a baby and ends up giving it a ridiculous name because she isn’t educated/intelligent enough to see that the name is inappropriate."

Detention (1999). Running opposite "Pokemon" on Kids WB in most markets during the early rise of Pokemon in the US, "Detention" had nowhere near the staying power and was cancelled after one season. Possibly the source- or an early use- of the "Lemonjello" and "Oranjello" racial name urban legend. (youtube.com)

I grew up with a JKMNOP. but it was pronounced "jkmnop".

Possible.  All I know is I’ve asked her “what are the craziest names ever” and those are the ones I remember her stating.  It’s quite possible they are regurgitated from myths and urban legends.

From now on I’m going to ask her “what is the weirdest first name you currently have?” and report any here.

i don't have to for me to know this is all made up

it's all over the internet. this isn't the 60s anymore.
I agree with you that it may be.  I’m believing it may be made up too based on what you’ve posted.  I’m just saying I’m not lying or making it up myself.  I’m repeating what I’ve heard.  Now I would like to believe my wife is not a liar so I’m going to believe that she is possibility regurgitaing lies/myths/legends that she has heard as well.

Ask her if she's heard of "J-Quellen" "D-Nice" or "A-Aron".

I bet she has.

Ok, I agree that most of those I posted appear fake and I honestly am a little pissed off by it.   If you think I was dumb enough to try to pull something over on this board, you are mistaken.  I will be having a talk with my wife about this and tell her to be the one to break this stupid cycle.   It’s not just her, I’ve heard it at parties with her coworkers

Two of the ones I posted I believe are legit: LaNauzia and Tim D’Last.

I will also stand by my claim that there are some crazy parents in the NICU and strange names are not uncommon.  I’m not trying to be racist or demeaning by stating that.  Many babies in the NICU are born drug addicted and their parents are POS’s.

I wonder if these broads tell these stories so often that they actually start to believe they are real?
definitely feels like people who tell the"my wife's friend from work goes to a hairdresser whose cousin has a nurse friend who helped deliver twins named Lemonjelo and Oranjelo to a woman named La-, pronounced Ladasha!" story absolutely believe it wholeheartedly

as one of those articles said it's confirmation of a belief that a certain type of people are so dumb that they give their kids terrible names because they don't know better

You don't get to make that call, honey. :lmao:

My wife even texted her friend that I said she was full of it and she said they were all true and she even had a kid named Uteruz the other day

no need to take it personally and get defensive

google is your friend
I was only defensive about your comment that I was making it up.  I truly believed that these weren’t fake and I would like to believe my wife is in the same boat.  I wasn’t trying to pull one over on anyone and fell duped.  Next time, I will Google

its all good wildcat everyone is just bustin your chops like we do to our brohans it is all in good fun take that to the bank

There are actually people named Abcde

https://www.vocativ.com/culture/society/people-named-abcde/index.html

Went into Subway yesterday around lunchtime.  Lady walks in with a ~3 month old baby boy in a carrier in a monogrammed onesie that says "Demacus" across the front left (where a pocket would be on a dress shirt - smallish print).

A couple sitting at a table spot her and wave her over, obviously they know her and I quickly gather that they hadn't seen her in a while and this was the first time seeing her child (I'm assuming he was hers, didn't hear it said).

Lady sitting at the table says "Isn't he so cute!!  What's his shirt say?  Is that Duh-mack-us?."
Mother responds with "no, it's Demarcus".
Sitting lady, as she reaches to straighten out his shirt:  "Oh I'm sorry, I guess I missed the "R".  **realizes she didn't misread it**  Wait, did they misspell his shirt?"
Mother:  Well, I don't know how he gon' spell it, but it's Demarcus!"
