Considering the Dolphins acquired A.J. Feeley
for a 2nd round pick, getting Culpep, injured or not, for similar compensation is a massive improvement.

C Pep is gigantic and mobile, that's part of his overall game. Marino, even in his early record setting days, was as mobile as a totem pole.
As a Dolphin fan I am thrilled. I don't think people realize that this is a guy who for his career has an over 90 QB rating. It is even better when you think about one of the major factors that the QB rating overlooks is scrambling ability. Culpy does fumble (BTW, I believe you wrote 81, but he has fumbled 34 times and lost 13 in his career according to ESPN) but even if that negates the running ability he has been above the 60% completion mark EVERY year of his career! I also liked passing on Brees. I see Chad Pennington there and that is too fragile for me for such a large investment. Saban has his act in gear!
Let's not forget that Marino's two best seasons BY FAR, came in his 2nd and 4th years. He had exactly one more 30 TD season in his career.
How'd he follow it up? Tarnishes that "historic" season for me. Give me a player that can be good for years and years. Not "historic" one year and abysmal the next. And the 34 fumbles for 13 losses is only from his official rushing stats, not all the times he had it stripped while being sacked......or all the times he just dropped it.
