No, thigh bruise if reports are to believed. Should practice all week and play, I'd guess. Is the injury bad?
Can't complain. They should be down vs cincy and should throw more then next week.'BobbyLayne said:Love the WR3 comments (I get it, you probably have two solid starters to put with him).Last 3 weeks: WR4 in PPR on a points per game basisLast 4 weeks: WR7 in PPR on a points per game basisLast 5 weeks: WR12 in PPR on a points per game basisFive straight weeks he has led the Chargers in receiving yards. 30 targets, 20-365-3. Prorated for a full season, that's 64-1168-10.Yeah, you can start him.
He torched Denver so why not Cincy?Doesn't Cincy have "lock down" corners? I'm thinking about benching Alexander this week. Do I dare?
YEA HE TORCHED DENVER!!!! (against the 3rd/4th/5th CB? lulz)He torched Denver so why not Cincy?Doesn't Cincy have "lock down" corners? I'm thinking about benching Alexander this week. Do I dare?
True, but they've played Cleveland twice, KC, Miami and Carson Palmer (who's beginning to fall apart) at home this past week. I'd start him with confidence.Bengals defense is 8th in the league against the pass giving up 218 yards/game, while giving up only 13 TD's on the year, with only 7 teams giving up less. Im skeptical on starting Alexander this week, only thing that helps is that the Bengals have to go to the west coast, and always seem to struggle out there.
In terms of FF points allowed per game to WRs and considering that no one had any idea who Bailey would cover, yes that did not look like a great matchup either.Cincy looks like a poor matchup the same way, 29th FFPA per game vs WRs, looks poor in terms of numbers, but who's covering Floyd & who's covering Alexander?I'm willing to own up to not being down on the CIN defensive backfield - who is there? Leon Hall, ok. But Pacman Jones? He's listed at 5'10", surprises me I would think that was generous, I would love that matchup for Alexander given the height advantage and Jones' cover skills but am I wrong there?ETA: Newman was playing, I thought he was out.YEA HE TORCHED DENVER!!!! WK 13 CINWK 14 @PITWK 15 CARWK 16 @NYJI'm not starting him next week. The rest of his playoff schedule is not horrible - he's a big guy, a matchup nightmare. This week, I figure if he's lined up on the right he can beat Newman. I don't think they'll throw to him much when he's on Hall's side.Carolina has had some WRs have decent games - Roddy, Austin, Thomas, VJax (2nd time around).Jets will probably have Cro shadow him. They will be coming off a MNF road game. Not sure how much you have watched him over the last few years, but when he is healthy, the matchups don't matter. As long as the left knee holds up...Anyone concerned about his remaining schedule? According to MyFBG SOS (for PPR scoring) San Diego has literally the toughest schedule for WRs for the rest of the season. He's still available in my shallow local league and I'm desperate for an extra WR but the schedule thing is scaring me off from picking him up.
I have this dilemma as well. Def starting Welker against his old team and Jordy at home in a divisional matchup. I probably won't decide Alexander/Shorts until this weekend.Shorts has been very solid, and he has another decent WR beside him to take the pressure off. @ Buffalo is an easier matchup. But Floyd has been decent as well, WR17 in the 5 weeks since Alexander got into the lineup. If weather (wind) in Buffalo is a factor I might lean toward Danario. Both guys have been pretty hot for the last 5-6 weeks.Would you start him over Shorts this week in PPR?

EXACTLY...what WR have they played of his caliber? The great WRs they have played have either piled up yardage on them or scored tdsTrue, but they've played Cleveland twice, KC, Miami and Carson Palmer (who's beginning to fall apart) at home this past week. I unserstand that the Bengals really havent played anyone this year, but i wouldnt say Alexander is great either, he has played 4 games this year, 2 great games and 2 ok ones. He is far from a Great WR. Bengals have shut down multiple WR's that are better than Alexander. Cruz, Bowe, Moore, Wallace, Thomas and Torrey Smith. All im saying is im nervous starting Alexander with confidence.EXACTLY...what WR have they played of his caliber? Are you sure about that?Cruz had a poor day but Nicks went 14/9/75/0.Boldin had a good day, 5/4/63/1.Josh Gordon in 2nd matchup 4/3/99/1.The Mighty Mo Massaquoi in 1st matchup went 7/5/90/0.Considering that the Giants have been having their problems, and that Oakland is just a bad team, really the only premium passing game CIN has faced has been DenverBengals have shut down multiple WR's that are better than Alexander. Cruz, Bowe, Moore, Wallace, Thomas and Torrey Smith.
ecker 11/8/99/2Thomas 8/6/77/0I will take my chances.I hear you. Well lets break down your concerns a bit further though. First off, you say Danario is not a great WR with 2 ok games and 2 great games. Let's not forget that he was signed off of the STREET as a free agent in late October. The guy had no training camp and had no football legs under him, nor did he know the chargers playbook. In his first game of real action he caught 3 balls for 61 yards. In 4 games he currently has 365 yards rec. and 3 tds. Small sample size, I know, but that projects out to 1460 yards rec and approx. 12 tds if he played a full season of 16 games. That would put him in the top 3 at WR, no? As far as Cincy goes lets break down their work vs notable WRs: Week 1: Boldin 63 yds and a TD, Torrey Smith 57 yards. Week 2: Greg Little 57 yards and a TD, Mo Mass 90 yards (Cleveland SUCKS but that WR production not so bad from bad WRs) Week 3: Santana Moss 3 yds and a TD (the skins were decimated at WR by then losing fred davis and garcon)Week 4: They played the blaine gabber led jags, nuff said. They can make any secondary look like best in the league. Week 5: They played Miami. Another fairly crappy passing attack. Week 6: Josh Gordon dropped 99 and a TD on them. Week 7: Antonio Brown dropped over 100 total yards on them (96 rec 13 rush) Mike Wallace only 52 yards but he has sucked all year not just vs cincy. Week 8: BYEWeek 9: Decker drops 99 yards and 2 tds on them (actually we can see a trend here that the #2 WRs on opposing teams seem to fare well vs Cincy. Floyd is considered SD #1 WR) Demaryius Thomas had a respectable 77 yards. Week 10: Cincy D annihilated the giants and the entire giants offense was out of sync. I believe Eli was mostly at fault with errant throws and sloppy play but yes they shut down cruz and nicks gained a respectable 75 yds. Week 11: They played a brady Quinn or matt cassel (cant remember but does it matter?) led chiefs... nuff said. Week 12: They held the raiders pass game in check, but d. moore still caught a TD. Safe to say the raiders offense is not that great though. So all in all, I'd say that the high ranking that Cincy has vs the pass is more smoke n mirrors than reality bc they haven't played enough talented passing offenses to justify that type of respect. Not saying that SD's passing offense is any better than say the raiders, but I do believe that danario as the #2 wr has a chance to put up decker type stats vs them this week. I'd be more worried about Floyd since cincy SEEMS to shut down opposing #1 WRs well. With that said, if Danario's thigh injury is going to be something that limits him in practice and makes him a game time decision then all bets are off. He has not yet shown the ability to play well through injuries. Hope this helps.I unserstand that the Bengals really havent played anyone this year, but i wouldnt say Alexander is great either, he has played 4 games this year, 2 great games and 2 ok ones. I think this will be the biggest roadblock for the passing game. The Bengal's pass rush has really come alive, and I can see them going after Rivers behind that awful OL all game long.main thing is that cinci d has been playing very well lately. while their secondary remains beatable, their strength is the front 4 rushing the passer. this is worrisome since rivers and the sd line have not been dealing with the pass rush well this yr.
Michael Gehlken @UTgehlkenDanario Alexander suffered a thigh injury Sunday vs. Ravens. Appears to be minor. Practicing today.
6 receptions for 102 yards...Ill take it. nice game.
For everyone who was paying attention, this is like the 4th or 5th time this season that the WR2 of an opposing offense lit up the bengals, so keep that in mind moving forward.

They are using him like they used VJax ... over 400 yards in the last 4 weeks. Hes a high end WR2 -low end WR1 in fantasyBenched him for broyles. A microcosm of my terrible year as a fan/fantasy owner.Go chargers go hahaTremendous roll he's been on; virtually matchup proof.Last 5 games: 37 targets, 26 receptions, 467 yards, 3 TDs.What a stud.
Did cincy put their #1 cb on him today? I didn't see the game. Until today Floyd has been drawing the opposing teams #1 cb each week which for fantasy and football purposes makes him the #1 wr. I agree that they are using him like they used vjax but opposing team have not yet acknowledged him as the #1. And for matchups you need to know that. That's why I felt so confident starting him today. Cincy usually shuts down TE opposing team's WR16 receptions for 102 yards...Ill take it. nice game.

and has consistently been getting 7-10 targets and could be considering a WR1 in real life as well.
No Ike Taylor I'm in. Still a tough matchup but if boldin can fare well vs Pitt so can danario. I expect wr3 production with wr2 upsideReal tough match up this weekend. Debating between him and antino brown. Not sure what to do.
So if a player gets 10+ more targets than any other WR on his team in every game but faces their opponent's CB2 he's still not his team's #1 WR? And if a WR leads the league in fantasy points but plays exclusively in the slot against the opponent team's nickleback he's a WR3 for fantasy purposes? The logical consequences of what you're saying make no sense.Did cincy put their #1 cb on him today? I didn't see the game. The way DX is playing, I feel like he is virtually matchup proof. At 6'5" 217, the ability to separate, and phenomenal ball skills, he is one tough hombre to cover right now.Stillers are #1 versus FF points allowed to WRs, so it's not an enticing proposition this week for Alexander owners, but I think he'll still get his.No Ike Taylor I'm in.
