Democratic Debate (1 Viewer)

Not sure why Hillary would want to legitimize the other candidates by actually attending these debates. She's got the nomination locked up, so anything she says can only hurt, right?

That's why the DNC has scheduled as few as possible.

Bernie is simply unrealistic here. He can't possibly afford to pay for everybody to go to college. He can't tax Wall Street nearly enough (and if he does, he kills middle class IRAs). Bernie wants to change America's entire system- it just won't work.
If everyone goes to college it also degrades the value of those degrees.
A college degree now is what a high school diploma used to be - it hurts you to not have one more than it helps you to have one. While I'm not 100% on board with totally free college, I do think something big needs to be done about its affordability. IMO, the value of a college degree is at an all-time low, while the cost to obtain that degree is at an all-time high (and still climbing).

Of all the selling points for Bernie the "free" college is the one I am least crazy about. Not everyone should go to college and we already have way too many people going who should not be. That said there is a major problem with how expensive it has gotten. In order for Bernie's plan to have even a remote chance at coming to fruition there would need to be regulations so that we are not just sending everyone.

Free college and free health care paid for by the magic money tree. Got it.
Only you are saying it's free. Bernie has never claimed it will be free and I have never seen anyone who supports either of these concepts say they are free.

You are always bashing the ACA like it is the worst thing to ever happen to this country, but it's not. It is not perfect and it has many flaws, but healthcare costs have been increasing dramatically well before Obama was even running for President. As I said in the ACA thread, I could not get health insurance before this passed because I had cancer. What is the point of being the greatest nation on earth and pouring trillions into the military to protect this status if we cannot even afford basic human rights to a large percentage of our population?

Some people are in favor of a less educated population. Bernie probably isn't the candidate for those people.
TRUMP '16!!!!!!

My thoughts are that all three did quite well and all three came off way more presidential than anyone on the other side. Was hoping Hillary would do/say something extremely stupid that would crush her, but she did not. Bernie was much stronger on foreign policy than the last debate.

Hillary's "Force" comment is a nice plug for a Disney product on a Disney-owned network. Not to mention, JJ Abrams gave $1 million to her Super PAC. She will serve her corporate masters well

"I don't know enough about the technology". Somehow, the Hillary haters are going to use that quote.
As opposed to all those technologies she does know enough about. Let's start a list...

1. Auto-shift car

2. Toaster oven

3. VCR

Hmm, probably better scratch number 3, just to be safe.

In her last statement, Hillary made the best argument yet that I have heard for continuing to try to take out Assad at the same time that we are fighting ISIS: because Assad is creating terrorists through his assault on the Syrian people, and because if the United States doesn't lead, there is a vacuum. I can get behind that. But I'm still not sure it's the best policy. Very confusing.
She has a lot of balls talking about creating a vacuum in the world - given that she has supported enough bad policies in the middle east to create a Hoover factory.
That rationale is kind of similar to the reasoning used to take Saddam out.

So did anyone even watch this thing?

I mean there was a football game, Animal Planet had a show about Kangaroos and I think QVC was running a sale on last minute Christmas gifts. I figured with all that "stiff"completion, no one would watch

Plus has there ever been any doubt who gets this nomination for the Dems?

They don't want anyone to watch, that's why they put it on Saturday night. If no one watched it was a great success.

Just tuned in. Has anyone explained how they are going to start dealing with our 19 trillion in debt?
The question of debt has not come up.
I admit to getting frustrated with all the candidates and dropping oit of the conversation the last few weeks. Has anyone on either side addressed the topic at all?
No. Usually the Republicans at least give it some lip service (though they never say what they're going to do about it) but not this time. Part of that may be because under Obama, the annual deficit has pretty much shrunk every year.
Going up quite a bit next year though

More debt converts into more GDP next year, why do you hate more GDP?

That's weird, because it's right here on his website. Maybe he got hacked?

And, to be clear, I'm glad you got health insurance but it's MORE than just the numbers of uninsured that the Administration keeps touting (which aren't that great anyways).

The problem I have with the ACA is that pretty much everyone else's premiums, deductibles and copays have risen dramatically when we were told we would be SAVING money to the tune of $2500 a year. Well, he said the "Average American Family" but at this point it's clear no one in America fits into that category.

What good is having insurance if you can't afford to use it?

Hillary is going to win. The DNC overtly sabotaging the Sanders campaign only fractures the base. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the stupidity involved in all of this.
Sanders is going to rally the base around Clinton after the primaries, including a rousing speech at the convention
Is he in the bag as well? That would certainly explain his passiveness.

In the bag? Lol. Are you expecting him NOT to endorse Hillary as best as he can should he lose the nomination?

I sometimes feel I have drifted into this weird parallel universe where people think Sanders will not support Hillary if she gets the nomination.

The bottom line is that if Bernie wants any of his liberal/progressive positions being enacted, his only chance (if he doesn't get the nomination) will be a Hillary presidency. He understands that if any of the GOP candidates get elected it would be an unmitigated disaster as far as the left and Democrats are concerned.

The belief that he would not support Hillary, if she were the nominee, is both delusional and ludicrous.

And it's mainly put forth by conservative types who care nothing about Bernie or his ideas, but are hoping against hope that he'll weaken Hillary.

Has anyone come up with some encryption secret sauce that is so secure that only the US Govt can unencrypt? Or was Hillary instead suggesting that individuals rely on Pig Latin for all their encryption needs?

So she accepts the apology then sends her campaign robots on the Sunday morning circuit to bad mouth him. Awesome. So fake

Eta: never mind the irony of her getting bent out of shape over security

Might as well have a thread for this.
:lmao: Why would you go against the DNC and actually publicize that it happened?

I'll bet it didn't matter.
The Sanders people screwed up. They were in the wrong; they stole info they weren't entitled to, and Bernie was forced to apologize on national television. But the reason they publicized it, and sued the DNC, was to get money from certain liberals who believe that the Democratic establishment is their enemy. Sadly it worked.

Still not sure if you're serious.
