STURGILL SIMPSON - WELCOME TO EARTH   The 1st 3mins or so were hell on Earth for me.   It definitely got better at toward the end as it got less country-ish.   Still, the butthole is a little puckered knowing how many Sturgill songs I put in the playlist.  

STURGILL SIMPSON - CALL TO ARMS   Oh, #### me.  I saw the artist before the song kicked in, but this one rocked my balls.    
Given what I've gleaned from your music tastes me thinks you'd like him more than you think you do. Maybe not all of Sailor, but cuts from it - like Call To Arms. But especially Sound & Fury. With hind sight it's clear to me it developed at least partially from aspects of Sailor. It isn't a country record.

I think part of the allure of LCD Soundsystem is the unironic acceptance of being uncool.  They came, they made some music, they disappeared (and then came back etc).  Everything was very self-aware.  Their first single was about how the music world had passed them by.  Murphy was 31 when they formed LCD Soundsystem, which is practically ancient in electronic music circles.  Some of their biggest hits are songs about finding out a close friend has died on a late night phone call and lamenting that you no longer go out and party with all your friends anymore.  There is something quintessentially uncool about both LCD Soundsystem and James Murphy, but in their embrace of their uncoolness created something unbelievably cool anyway.
It definitely helps us older white folk not feel alienated by the artist.

An electronic keyboard virtuouso like Rick Wakeman's godawful attempts proved it's not easy to make this stuff. 

 
25.16  The Fall - The Wonderful and Frightening World of the Fall (1984)

If my math is correct the Fall released 37 albums.  Obviously some misses but this album doesn't. This is my favorite.

The playlist picks won't do justice to it at all, 'cause like some of my other picks, it's really about the overall album experience. Loved this one then (was neck-and-neck with Sound of Silver for my favorite album of the year) and still do, though I'm sure it's not for everyone. Would've put album centerpiece Bros on the playlist if I absolutely DGAF, 'cause it's transcendent and truly makes the album, but I'll just have "Comfy" and "Pills" work as dreamy respites.

Playing "Bros" back-to-back with "Come Together" from Screamadelica will be tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Yep. Definite doppleganger. That made me laugh. I love this album. It sits on the bottom shelf of my record collection. I think I'll pull it out.

One of the mantras of my life is 'if it ain't broke, don't fit it.'  Since I don't see this draft as 'broken', I don't see any reason to change course now.  Adding the 3ITC was a good on-the-fly adjustment and I think it's still working.

Hmm... it appears 1987 and 1991 were the most influential years in regards to forming my musical taste (with notable 1987 and 1995 snipes not on my list) so... 5/6th grade and 9th/10th grade. Also, a pretty significant dead zone from college though mid 30s. Maybe there was a lot of good music from 1995/6 -> 2010 but I wasn't finding/connecting with it.

I'll fall on a sword. I have no clue what of his albums are good, which ones are great, and if he has any lemons. My library is littered with his music, but I don't think I've ever listened to an album of his cover-to-cover. His catalog has been at the top of my listen to list all week, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I think I'm over whelmed looking at it and seeing the amount of time needed to commit to it and I keep justifying not doing it.

We have this in common.  Love SRV’s playing but not all of his songs.

I am in the same boat as you, but different years.  Arcade Fire and Radiohead pretty much being my only lifeboats in that mess from like 98-08.  92-94 was also awful for my likes.  1988 was the best year imo.

I played TF quite often, but yeah.  Great artist!

3ITC is work though, and the work has been for those who have been keeping this humming along. That can burn you out, and for me the question is more do they want to continue leading it.  If not, then Option B or C is just fine. There are 40 drafters, and there will be conversation no matter what. Even with 3ITC there are times of quietness, but the more skips that come, the more it is getting back around to the people who are present.

I'd prefer to go B as a drafter, but thinking about the overall spirit of it, A sounds like the way to go. The only problem is that so many people are popping in and out and on skip that it becomes hard to keep track of (I've been on skip the past two days, so I'm right in the thick of that burden, too) for the people keeping track. It requires a constant presence to maintain and designate, which is hard. I think that administratively, B is easiest but also you do have the issue of a glut at 11 and a glut of picks at 7. So A, I guess. Why fix what isn't broken, as Steiner said?

That's a fair point, and I will fully support whichever option works best for our volunteers.

I just have little tolerance for twang in my music.  But I have grown to accept more stuff that toes the line in my old age.  I will for sure give this an honest go though based on the 1 1/2 songs I've liked.  

 
I have come around on NVs thinking and would vote for 3itc if that keeps the discussion humming more.  

However, that does take more work to keep it going, so if there isn't someone for that, then we should explore the other two.  

 
I'd rather the drafting never end, but I agree with those who say it should be up to the caretakers. I'm too lazy to put more thought into it.

 
OK, we're staying 3ITC for now. Hopefully I can do some heavy driving/updating from now through Sunday, I will need a fair bit of help again Monday - Thursday again when I'm working away from home.  :thumbup:

 
I think Eephus and one or three others would be on it. But especially Eephus. Then again, it wasn't taken, so it sounds like it would have fallen to me. I can tell you I'd have a hard time drafting in the twenties and not hitting it eventually.

The Damned as on someone's radar for drafting. You were the one that pointed us to the documentary two or so years ago and generally have spoken about them with knowledge.
