Round 13.G - Peter Gabriel - Solsbury Hill

I got married in Italy in 2000, and my brother wasn't able to make it because my infant nephew had suffered an injury that made it dangerous for him to fly.* What does this have to do with Peter Gabriel? Well, today my brother and his wife were supposed to leave for Italy, finally realizing his 23-years-in-the-making dream of going there. He had also decided it would be fun to see a show while there and found that one of his top favorites, Peter Gabriel, was performing this Sunday near where they'd be. 23-year wait to go to Italy and added seeing one of his absolute faves while there? A dream come true.

Saturday his wife tested positive for COVID, and they canceled the trip. Or at least she says she has COVID. She has a tendency to "come down with an illness" every time she doesn't want to do something. Last summer my brother and nephew wanted to do a surprise trip to see my mom out here for her birthday but had to cancel because she "caught COVID" but never took a test. She also alleged she had it after my brother got it two years ago, though she never took a test then either. When they visited here a few years ago, she "got sick" when we were going to a Sounders game. On the only trip I think she's had outside the US, to Ireland, she "got sick" and my brother had to take care of her and cancel a bunch of stuff. It's so bad that, when OH came home Saturday night, I told him that the trip was canceled and guess why, and he said, "[brother's wife's name]..." and I shook my head yes, and he said, "has COVID." Bingo! So ridiculous that she's this predictable.

Anyway, I'm really devastated for my brother. My mom and I thought of getting him Peter Gabriel tix for a show in the US, but seeing him in Indianapolis or something might just remind him what he missed out on. Sucks.

*Shaken by the teenage daughter of the owner of his day care, nearly died and was taken by the police from my brother/sister-in-law while the investigation went on, and those ****ers never suffered any consequences for it.

XYZ - Inside Out

Not exactly my cup of tea, but the pickins' as they say, are slim. Plus this song sorta rocks (for hair metal). Just understand the video was made in a different time...

That's terrible. She sounds like my ex-wife on steroids. Starting a year or 2 into marriage, whenever there were plans to see my family, there was always some last-minute physical or mental reason why she (as in, we) couldn't go. Luckily these were not events that were far away and we never had to cancel major trips or anything like that (I realized quickly it was futile to schedule any).

Yep, that's exactly it. I'm sorry you dealt with that, too. It's in keeping with other stuff you've mentioned about your ex.

FYI - you can put me on skip tomorrow since I’ll be traveling all day (kinda like Jason Tatum - ayo!!). I’ll check in when I can to make my picks.

same for me - headed to Nashville to see some old friends for a long weekend anyone out there I can send a list to?

I should be around if you want to send. If we have this many people on skip tomorrow, though, should we pause or revert to one-per-day or something?

not sure if I will bring my laptop with me at this point - even if I do, I'll likely only be able to check in at night

just don't want to hold things up.

thanks krista - I'll send you something tonight

this are the way ...

Elizabeth - Ghost

🤘

I didn't know which was the artist and which the song, so I clicked the link. Ended up listening all the way through and liked it! (I'm mostly not listening to new-to-me songs right now as I hope people will be submitting playlists.)

a truly bombastic, theatrical troupe, that lot ... and they have a bit of fun with it, to boot - sorta like the Dolls meeting Mercyful Fate - which i like, very much.

OK. If we want to keep it going, @Yo Mama please feel free to send me picks if you'd like, too. I suppose it could be hard to do at this point if you want to do steals, though, and also in the event something is stolen from you.

No one making any steals in here. This draft is boring.

Gonna be a fun last 2 rounds I guess.

15.pik The Replacements - Tommy Gets His Tonsils Out. Love the pace of this one. Portland was a consideration also.

I have lost a couple of my main bands already. R may be the most stacked letter, but these guys are a must have for me. Most underrated band in history I think.
