17.pik Charli XCX BOOM Clap

Catchy tune.

A, B, C, E, H, J, L, M, N O, P, Q, R, U, V, W, and X

Is this for X??? So her last name is XCX?

:lol: I wondered the same. The stage name stuff really is difficult to follow (for me at least). I know Tasker took Zola Jesus and put it under "Z," which I assumed was right at the time(?), but then some of these others are confusing me.

I think we're here?

@John Maddens Lunchbox kinda like Elton John, right? I only want it if it's X obviously.

Gonna be gone a couple hours. I'll take Xzibit and pick song later if that's no good. Tia. It should be though. Stage name...
Ok. This is tricky.
If Iggy Pop, Elton John, David Bowie etc all go under their stage last name, then Charlie XCX should be under X
Unlike Iggy and Elton, her first name is Charlotte so Charlie makes it even reasonable to put under X.
Then again, if I go to a record store and look for Charlie XCX, im looking under C.

I dont know Zola Jesus, but after a quick read it should be a J if we are taking stage names like real names. I will let @Steve Tasker make a case for why it should be Z

Where does this leave Meat Loaf? Never seen him under L in a music store, but if we accept XCX as legitimate stage name, why not Meat and Loaf as if it were John Smith?

At some stage common sense has to enter this. Im trying to be fair and reasonable though and make no firm declarations without hearing solid counterarguments.

At this stage
Meat Loaf = M
Charlie XCX = X
Zola Jesus = J

Convince me otherwise

I realize Binky is ITC, but he just gave me lists for each letter and left it to my discretion which letter to take. I want to be thoughtful about the selection but need to do some work first. :)

Perhaps I misunderstood the requirements. My understanding was that if the person's stage name was their legal name, we'd sort by Last Name, First Name. Hence why my selection of Michael Jackson is a J choice: Jackson, Michael.

But if the person performs under a stage name that isn't their real name, we would be using their first name. Zola Jesus is not her real name, her name is Nika Danilova. If she were to perform under her legal name, she would be a D choice. But since she's performing under an assumed stage name, she'd be a Z pick. Similar to how I just unknowingly posted above that I had Charli XCX as a C choice. To be honest, if she was an X pick, I would've picked her in like the 4th round.

I'm good either way, maybe I just misunderstood. But if Zola Jesus is a J pick, I have to throw it back in the pool because I already have Michael Jackson for J.

Meat Loaf should be an L, stage name. What's Elton John's real name? Plenty of artists with different names over the years.
Billy Idol is a good Meat Loaf comp imo....maybe.
Where would RuPaul Andre Charles go. MTheeStall?

Many, if not most of those, have legally changed their names.

Understand. Stage names are tricky business. Elton John is a J, David Bowie is a B etc. by that same logic Zola Jesus is a J and Charlie XCX is an X. Legal or birth names dont mean anything unless like Elvis Costello/Declan McManus or John Cougar, John Cougar Mellancamp, John Mellancamp, they record under their real names. Whatever name the material is released under is what we count

If Zola Jesus has only released under that name, I would say J and she gets chucked back.
I would rather sort all these out now. Im pretty much out of touch with modern music so thought Zola Jesus was a band.

We have covered the Meat Loaf and Alice Cooper exemptions. If theres anyone else that needs a ruling id rather now know so people have time to correct.

Checking Wikipedia, Elton John is a J. He changed his name. (Even gave himself the middle name Hercules.) Billy Idol is an I. Meat Loaf is an M. Zola Jesus is a Z.

I think Wikipedia is going by how they refer to themselves in their own media.

(It's like Debbie Harry is an H, not a B for Blondie.)

Birth names are irrelevant. What name did they record under? Their stage name
1. We have covered Alice Cooper. Pre 1974 it was a band., so A. He adopted the name when he went solo, so after a C
Mercury = M
Idil = I
Dylan = D
John = J
Wonder = W

If like Costello or Johnny Cougar they have recorded material under their real name (McManus and Mellancamp), then they would be eligible for multiple letters.

What name did they record under is all that matters.

I admit i am conflicted on Meat Loaf, but common sense says you dont look under L in the record store.

Why is zola jesus a Z, by the same logic she is a J?
