DI Jukebox Draft (66-15)- Listen up (2 Viewers)

I saved most of my strong years until the end, but with back-to-back-to-back 2013-2014-2015 picks, I'm starting to whittle that down.  Wasn't sure if I was sticking with my theme but just doubled-down on it with my 19th round picks so I'm all-in.  Still have 4 years left where I've got very little idea what I'm going to pick .

Draft moved pretty damn fast, all things considered. Fourteen picks to go for me. Mostly ones on which I'm not 100% sure yet.
Not a fan of this quoting functionality, if I click on the wrong quote I can't seem to get rid of it. I think the draft has gone pretty fast and I much prefer the FFA posting at set times. It makes bookkeeping a lot easier (and I don't have to keep checking who is on skip, when the last pick was made etc .etc.)

1966-2001 are checked off. Looks like relatively smooth sailing from here - except for 2008. Looking forward to listening to everyone's mixes at the end.

I want to thank everyone and zilla especially.

I installed my new garage door opener today and alexa had the master list playing. It was awesome. I even enjoyed the tim adele pick.

Only song I didnt like was something about having sex with a goat. I dont know.

Hmmm.  I didn't know timmy's love shack swung that way.

19a - Modest Mouse - Parting Of The Sensory - 2007 - We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank

I've loved this song since I first heard it when the album came out and I've never stopped.  They go from acoustic to electric to what sounds like a sukie jump. Marr plays guitar, Isaac Brock snarls some abstractly bleak lyrics; everything works in this song for me.

19b - Neon Piss - Look Homeward Angel - 2012 - Neon Piss

Love this one, too. Just like Dillinger Four, Neon Piss is probably one of the greatest punk bands ever to walk the face of the earth; a deep cut off of an underground album by some guys from San Francisco. They broke up promptly after their next single, leaving everybody in the punk world wondering what happened to a bunch of guys that came out of nowhere to cut what a not an insignificant amount of people view as the best punk record this past decade.

Bread had two gifted songwriters in David Gates and Jimmy Griffin.  Gates wrote the softer tunes and Griffin leaned more toward rock.  He wasn't Johnny Thunders or anything but he was definitely more into the Beatles and country rock than Gates was.  If you listen to any of their early albums, it's pretty obvious whose songs are whose, much more so than the Beatles or Husker Du.

Gates' songs were picked as the singles and the band's sound got pigeonholed as AM staples.  You wouldn't think a band this soft would have such acrimony but they supposedly had blowups and multiple lawsuits over the years.

Man, I love Iggy Pop and Kate Pierson has a great voice, but "Candy" is one of those tunes I've just heard way too many times at rock clubs, bars and such. I guess I still like it, in a vacuum, but I don't feel a need to listen to it much. I guess the same could be said for a bunch of other tunes here, including my own Iggy pick and so many others, but hey. Perfect jukebox song, though.

Misread it and could've sworn there were a bunch of people vying for a Brandy song for a second here. Whoops.

Yeah, whatever.  Screw you guys - this song kicks ###!

19.23 - Juke Box Hero, Foreigner (1981)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7tzi8wkYgI

How do you have a Juke Box without Juke Box Hero!

When I used to take the kids to preschool, I would play a lot of my old classic rock cds since the kids were starting to sing along to everything and I didn't have a lot of safe hip-hop / rap.  My daughter started calling this “Juice Box Hero”, which makes sense since they had never seen juke box before.  Needless to say, I still sing along to this song as Juice Box Hero now because of that.
Finally.  Jukebox Hero was one of the two songs I posted many days ago that I thought was a necessity on the jukebox

Heard this on the radio a few months ago and listened to it everyday for a week after. So good

1969, 2012 and 1 more year to come are being passed over. This song I can say without reservation is my favorite song of the new millennium. Can't analyze why, it just is.

When I made my draft list I was very disappointed I couldn't get this song in. There was a choice I had to take ahead of it. Fortunately or Unfortunately RATM's - Killing in the Name was taken and I could grab this.

This band would go onto much bigger success, especially thanks to a Keith Forsey composition. They admit to selling their soul to become successful in America. Jim Kerr always hated the song that made it and despite all the money and extra crowds it gave him, he basically churns through it live and either lets the audience sing it or mumbles his way through it. .Anyway I'm NOT picking that song, a Billy Idol reject, I'm instead picking their artistic peak. This was the title track of their breakthrough album in the UK and has been sampled by so many subsequent artists.

Weak year?  I guess you are not down with the hair metal.
Sorry, this was a singularly focused observation.  Very bad for the list I am working on.

But also yes.  I lived through the hair metal years.  I was there at the beginning, middle and end.

"It wasn't good." - whispered like an old lady at a church social eating some bad potato salad.

Well since no one will give me a straight answer I'm just going to assume it's yes and that we're back to 4 rounds a day. So picks coming up.
Eephus already answered that question if you had taken the time to just look back two or three pages ago, and it was obvious people were posting round 19 after 4 est. I'm not trying to be a wise apple, but c'mon man.
