I was wondering when that was going to get picked.
Someone posted earlier they would get an Appletini at Tim's bar. I'm not even sure Tim's bar serves alcohol. Maybe you order a Shirley Temple or a chocolate malt.We Are the World???
My favorite song about slave rape.
There's a choice we're making. We're saving our own lives; it's true we make a better day just you and me.We Are the World???
This song is dumb as ####. It almost made me question whether Ray Charles, Springsteen, and Dylan actually meant what they sang in their better songs if they were singing this hard on a piece of crap like this. After thinking about it for 2 seconds, the answer is "no". Ray could sing his junk mail and it would sound like he was in church. Lionel Richie, Paul Simon, Diana Ross, and Kenny Rogers are all trying to out-bland each other (on their own records, not just this one).1985- USA For Africa- "We Are the World"
Lenny was the Bad Company of the 90s. Competent, in-the-trenches. Who is that chick playing drums? I shall marry her one day.1993 - Are You Gonna Go My Way - Lenny Kravitz
Me too. I've loved it for 30 years. I showed the video to my daughters recently, pointed out the various stars. It's cheesy, repetitive, with awful lyrics, and I love it. And it's absolutely perfect for my draft. This song is dumb as ####. Once a year or so, I binge listen to a bunch of SOAD and Serj Tankian solo stuff and wonder why I never listen to them more. It's just so far from my normal musical tastes that I forget about them for long stretches of time. But they're pretty good, actually.Yo Mama picks:

I have at least one Lionel-written song coming up. He's terrible. I may pick two.Me too. I've loved it for 30 years. They're one of my favorite concerts. So much fun live.Once a year or so, I binge listen to a bunch of SOAD and Serj Tankian solo stuff and wonder why I never listen to them more. Kravitz' drummer is named Cindy Blackman. Her background is in jazz. She released a few albums as a leader and appeared as a sidewoman on lots more. The gig with Lenny paid some bills.Great band nameI think she might be hanging out in Eephus' bar.Lenny was the Bad Company of the 90s. Competent, in-the-trenches. Who is that chick playing drums? Peter Murphy -- Cuts You Up -- 1990
The Stone Roses -- Love Spreads -- 1994
Just heard this while shopping in Lowe's - really good tune. There are some songs where I just fall in love with the woman singing it. I don't care if she looks like Shirley Hemphill from What's Happening.....doesn't matter. This song ####ed me up the first time I heard it and the atmosphere built around her voice drives the stake deeper.

Preach brother.I like We Are The World only due to the abundance of talent there. Always get a laugh seeing Springsteen's "I'm taking a dump" face in the video.
That said, I would never contemplate drafting it.
Yup. Used to be in Bauhaus.A little 120 Minutes flavor.
Peter Murphy --
Helluva 1-2 punch there.
Nice - great song16b - Mos Def and Talib Kweli are Black Star - "Definition" (1998)
No way I wasn't taking something off this album. I can't remember if I picked this one in a different draft so let's go. Personally, one of the most influential albums of my life.
Yo, from the first to the last of it, delivery is passionate
The whole an' not the half of it, forecast and aftermath of it
Projectile that them blasted with, accurate assassin ####
Me an' Kweli close like Bethlehem and Nazareth
After this you be pressin' rewind on top your master disk
Shinin' like an asterisk, for all those that be gatherin'
Connectin' like a round house, from the townhouse to the tenements
'Cause all my Brooklyn residents, all the heavy regiments
Don't believe, here the evidence, where Brooklyn? (whoaaaaa)
See that?
Bound to take it all kid, believe that
From where they sellin' tree at, to where the police be at
Talib Kweli, E.Kwelity, yo' tell them where we be at

Nice pick. They learned their lessons from Allan Tousaint when they wrote this one.16 How Long (Betcha' Got a Chick on the Side) - The Pointer Sisters - 1975
This is the final survivor of my original concept with songs by groups of sisters. There are a lot more bands with brothers but a bar for gay black men might send the wrong impression. NTTAWWT. There's probably zero chance I'd get sniped on this one but I want to put one sisters song on the board before I find a better song from 1975.
The Pointers' reputation hasn't held up well but this track is a sizzling piece of New Orleans inspired funk. Not sure who's in the band now but they're playing tonight at the Bayou Cypress Casino in Charenton, Louisiana
