Right. I was skeptical at first myself. FYI, the info was posted on another board from a Miami fan.

Report: Ricky Fails Drug Test ...

2006-02-19

Channel 7(WSVN - Miami), citing "a television station in Denver", is reporting that Dolphins running back Ricky Williams has failed another drug test. If true, Williams faces a one year suspension from the NFL.

The Dolphins have no comment at this time.

Then there is another story saying the Broncos and Miami are in trade talks regarding Ricky . . .

What's really wierd is one station is reporting a trade between Miami and Denver for Ricky, and another station from Denver is reporting that Ricky may have failed a drug test....something just seems weird about this coincidence.

Do they test in the offseason?

Why would a report come out of Denver of all places?

How can you tell?Ricky wouldnt be facing a one year suspension anyway, I am pretty sure it would be for longer.

PTF is confirming the report:

POSTED 9:25 p.m. EST, February 19, 2006WILLIAMS REPORT CONFIRMED

Jason Cole of The Miami Herald confirms that Dolphins running back Ricky Williams has failed another drug test.

He faces a suspension of at least one year.

Team spokesman Harvey Greene declined comment.

''Because of the confidential nature of the league's substance abuse policy, we can't comment on any aspect of that program,'' Greene told Cole.

Williams stayed clean for all of the 2005 season. Recent reports indicated that the Broncos were interested in trading for him. With his 2006 season in jeopardy, Williams would be 30 if he returns to action in 2007.

Williams is under contract for two more years with the Dolphins, at base salaries of $545,000 and $670,000.

Here's more from the Miami Herald:

Dolphins' Williams tests positive for drug useBY JASON COLEjcole@MiamiHerald.comDolphins running back Ricky Williams faces at least a one-year suspension from the NFL after testing positive for drug use a fourth time under the league's substance abuse policy. Two sources confirmed a report by WSVN-TV that Williams had failed the test, although neither would say the substance Williams used. On three previous occasions, Williams had tested positive for using marijuana.

Dolphins spokesman Harvey Greene declined to comment Sunday night.

''Because of the confidential nature of the league's substance abuse policy, we can't comment on any aspect of that program,'' Greene said.

Williams returned to the NFL this season after retiring for the 2004 season. He missed the first four games of the season and was fined an additional four weeks of salary from the second and third violations of the substance abuse program.

Those positive tests had occurred in December 2003 and in the 2004 offseason. Williams returned to have a productive season.

Williams has spent much of the offseason in Northern California studying yoga and holistic medicine.

i have no clue if this "report" is truein the video r-will runs in a td from around 20 yards against the falcons. this past season he had 10 carries against the falcons including a 23 yard td

of course it could still be a hoax, but i do believe the video clip is from this past season

Paging Banghaha to the slow-pitch batting cage...
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: In all seriousness, if this IS true, and is current, then Ricky Williams has got to be one of the dumbest people around. They allowed him back when they didn't have to, and he repays them like this? Again, IF true, then his trade value goes to almost nil and Miami is stuck with him... (after he serves the 1 year suspension)

Yes, the news is indeed true...unfortunately. I do feel bad for the Dolphins for turning it around and now Ricky has to do something foolish/selfish like this.

It's big news down here in Florida!

From what i heard,he didnt fail a test a few years back,he didnt take it. It results in the same thing. A failed test :X

If this was real, some other station or website would be reporting it. No one has found a thing except this lame ### article from some obscure place with a clip that doesn't even go with the audio. The audio is from two years ago, the video clip is from last year. This is crap.

The point was the video was in fact from this past year...not from the previous year as you suggested. My other point was that you are obviously a Texas homer who is incapable of expressing an unbiased view.

Anything else you need me to explain for you?

FWIW, I don't know if the report is true which is why I posted it as a question in the first place.

Dude, they posted a Miami Herald report from tonight ... which I have read on their site ...

per rotoworld

A report claims Dolphins' RB Ricky Williams has failed a drug test.

The report cites a TV station in Denver. If it's true, Williams would be suspended for the 2006 season. "Because of the confidential nature of the league's substance abuse policy, we can't comment on any aspect of that program," 'Fins spokesman Harvey Greene said. Williams was suspended for the first 4 games of the '05 season for testing positive. On the bright side, this is good news for Ronnie Brown owners. Feb. 19 - 9:28 pm et

Well, you dont know me so dont make stupid comments like you do. I have never defended Ricky and I wasn't trying to then, you just assumed I was. And you were wrong. If the report is true, it is true and that was a really stupid decision that he made and probably just effectively ended his NFL career and cost him a crap load of money.

Would it be too much of a Honda sentiment for me to wonder if the very long football offseason doesn't play into a lot of this stuff happening? There are apparently just a lot of guys who can't keep their crap in the offseason. Some of these guys have trouble in the season as well (see: Chris Henry), but it gets all the worse when they have nowhere to be and nothing good to do.

Dude face the facts.......he failed a drug test.

Type in MIAMIHERALD.COM

I read it. What an idiot. I can't beleive he would do that. I liked weed myself but damn, when your career and millions of dollars are on the line, you have to give up the junk! :wall:

Sun, 19 Feb 2006 18:42:06 -0800

Well, come on, the first post was some garbled junk from an obscure site. If we beleived everything that gets posted here based off of some rumor from an uncredible site.....Like I said, I would beleive it when it was confirmed by a legitimate source, it was. I stand corrected and I am pissed.
