Dynasty Value Discussion Thread (9 Viewers)

16 team SF PPR IDP

I was the 1-seed last year and have Chase Brown.

I’m somewhat deep at WR, and have an interesting discussion with another manager. The working proposal is
I give: Diggs+Lockett
I get: Tahj Brooks+Doubs

My WRs would then be Lamb, Nico, AJB, Addison, Palmer, Doubs, Dotson, Renfrow.

It’s a very flexy league, and I could start 4 RB without Addison for 3 games (Chase Brown, Chuba, Jacobs, and RS)

Feels like a solid return on Diggs, plus I could taxi Brooks (important at cut-down time) while also locking up the CIN backfield further. I’d also get much younger x2.

Would you do it?

I think that is a little under for a return. While both are aging WR, Doubs does nothing other than clog your roster

So it really comes down to if you think that Diggs is washed up and basically done.
I actually think he’s going to have a great year. He looks fantastic at camp, and he’s the top target in what should be an up-tempo passing attack.

But I figured I’d capitalize on that to get Brooks/younger. But that hinges on whether or not Doubs is a viable WR. If not, then I’m giving up way too much to get Brooks.

I agree. All I find on Diggs (except for his boating practices) is positive
I am a fan of Tahj too.
I don’t remember details but early camp reports had Doubs as a potential cut/ trade move. He was having trouble with playbook IIRC

I do not like your potential Diggs move. That's real clunker, HSG.
Yeah, the more I thought about it the less I liked it. But the idea of getting younger was mice. Maybe just cuz I’m getting older tomorrow.

Whatcha think about the QB/WR swap above?

Yeah, I winced a little because nobody is giving Maye/London for AJ/Herbert. Just not doing it.
Agreed. I like the Maye/London side as well.

In fact, the Maye/London owner might be into it. There could be a couple of other pieces like my Stevenson for his ? But it’s something to work from.

Needless to say, I’m intrigued.

Also, Herbert is worth more than Maye for some reason - most rankings have them in the same tier so tryna parlay that perceived value bump from Maye~> Herbert into AJB ~> London.

I know, let me try and fix...

12 team superflex QWWWRRTFFSKD with 22 man rosters.

CONTEXT
I made several deals this off-season that have led to the current squad. I wasn't expecting to compete, but rather was trying to position myself to be very competitive following the 2026 rookie draft. However, a manager desperately wanting to accelerate his rebuild and, IMO, overvaluing 1st round picks, made a trade with me that shifted my perspective. That's led to two trades and a potential third that has much less impact (most likely) but where I'd like an outside opinion.

Trade 1 - pre rookie draft: Sent JJ McCarthy, 1.10, 2026 1 (mid); 2026 1(late) FOR Josh Allen, Breece Hall, Braylon Allen, 2026 3 (worst team in the league, likely 3.1)
Rookie Draft Haul: Ashton Jeanty, Matthew Golden, Colston Loveland, Kyle Williams, Bhayshul Tuten, Isaac TeSlaa ... and via multiple trades recouped a 2026 1, Ricky Pearsall, Jalen Coker, Keaton Mitchell, Chris Rodriguez
Trade 2 - last week: Sent Ashton Jeanty, Colston Loveland, 2026 2 for Malik Nabers, 2026 1

Current Roster:
QBs - Josh Allen, Justin Herbert, Drake Maye
WRs - Malik Nabers, Ricky Pearsall, Matthew Golden, Khalil Shakir, Jalen Coker, Dontayvion Wicks, Kyle Williams, Isaac TeSlaa
RBs - Breece Hall, Chase Brown, Braylon Allen, Sean Tucker, Bhayshul Tuten, Marshawn Lloyd, Keaton Mitchell, Chris Rodriguez
TE - Bowers

Another manager really wants TeSlaa ... offered me Donte Thornton. Draft Capital points to TeSlaa, opportunity to Thornton. I think my team is a piece of two away from being a legit title contender (preferably a RB), but also think Thornton could be much more useful right away to plugging into a flex week to week as that 5th WR in my lineup.

Barring injury, I am not sure I'm ever going to be comfortable playing TeSlaa with the RBs, ARSB, Jameson Williams, and LaPorta seemingly ahead in the pecking order. And as I type all of this, I think I should probably just take Thornton and run.

I’d hold on TeSlaa

Jamo is a FA next year. Never know.

Regardless TeSlaa has showed out so well they are going to use him.
Interesting ... as my work has taken far more of my time, I don't get to get as deep into dynasty as I used to even just a few years ago ...

Initially I thought Thornton would be a slam dunk over TeSlaa, but glad I asked.

Is this literally as simple as JaMo's contract? Have the Lions not picked up the fifth year option yet?

TeSlaa has looked phenomenal in every game I’ve seen. He’s making highlight reel catches and the Lions invested a lot to move up to take him.

The Jamo contract is just one part. I like Thornton. But I really like what I’ve seen from TesLaa.

Maybe others will differ. Clearly your trade partner has seen what I have to make you that offer, right?

I have Thornton and don’t think I’d trade him for TeSlaa if push came to shove but it’s close

Yeah, I don’t think they’re far apart at all except in terms of FF rookie draft day value (irrelevant at this point) and team situation.

Personal preference for me, but I have become more and more excited by TeSlaa as the preseason has gone on, and they are invested in him.

But I like both players for sure. Agree it’s very close.

What's the outlook for Jonathan Brooks? Is he finished before he ever got started? I have him in an auction contract league for $14 for 3 more years including this one. Cutting him would be a $4 penalty. I'm leaning towards cutting him.

Took over a team in a 16 team dynasty league ... definitely a rebuild project as it has a great deal of aging vets .. Evans, Sutton, Meyers, AJ Brown so I started with two trades that gave me:

Gave: AJ Brown and 1.10
Got: Devanta Smith, Flowers and 1.12

Anyone had any luck dealing Evans, Sutton, or Meyers .. trying to gauge value

I am the opposite. Thornton is getting a shot and succeeding and will be on the field a lot this year. Give me Thornton.
totally fair. As I said above, I think it’s close enough to be personal preference.

Hey bud, was going through my PMs the other day and saw our conversations from a ways back. I wondered where you’d gone. Then you’re here! I hope you are doing well and that work isn’t too crazy. Peace.

If you have the roster spot and cap space hold but if you need it for something else no issue dropping him.
Agree. Probably a doorstop/roster clog at this point. 2nd torn ACL isn’t great. Non-zero chance he makes a full recovery & contributes at some point in 2026, but the way they paid Chuba immediately raised a flag over whether the Panthers FO knows he’s a longshot.

I can't wrap my head around the salary implications but I'm buying in leagues IF I project to have room to keep him when I do off-season cuts at end of March in 2026.

The youth and pedigree are hard for me to ignore. I have no examples of a RB who suffered two ACL tears and came back to form but while this may sound like a joke and I'm not trying to minimize the difficult path he has ahead of him but if he was a mid to early first round pick with one ACL tear are we so sure throwing him away because of a second ACL is the right call?

HSG-they extended Chubba before Brooks even made his debut last year, like a week or two before.

are we so sure throwing him away because of a second ACL is the right call?
Situation matters. I don't mind holding him but if you have a better option (read: not injured and playing with upside) then I don't see why dropping him is an issue. You can likely monitor for 6 months and grab him again at a later point. He isn't a must drop but he isn't a must hold either.

He's not a FA in any leagues of mine or cut in any of them when we had to do roster cutdowns to 14 position players. Now that he can tucked on IR there is about a zero percent chance that if me or anyone in my leagues cut him we could just pick him up freely.

Unless your league does not have IR spots I do in fact think he's a must hold.

I got a Teslaa related question.

First of all I'm a longtime Razorback and totally whiffed on this guy. Never saw it. Was actually around several other Razorback fans when they picked him and we were all shocked. But kudos to Brad Holmes for seeing it because this dude has size, speed, body control and a strong hands catcher. But he's blocked IMO. Might give you a best ball week here or there but otherwise needs Jamo or ASRB to go down to be a lineup guy this year and eventually need one to leave.

So I was offered Teslaa for a 2026 third this morning and I've been chewing on it. My team is very thin at WR, honestly no viable WR3 as of today, but it's still a contender and while it does need WR's for the future it also needs WR depth for today and I don't really see him helping the today part. I like the overall value on the trade, just adding talent for a third is usually good business but it's smaller roster FFPC and I'm up against it on roster space now to say nothing of off-seeason cuts, but it's the now part I'm dealing with.

Right now I got Roman Wilson tagged as my least valuable keeper and I might cut him in the first waiver run. My second least valuable keeper is Ollie Gordon and I might be able to trade him straight up for Teslaa, I know they have interest in him. I also have Kyle Williams who I also can't count on right now but where I see him differently then Teslaa is he does have a path to role but I think I can trade him for a very late projected 2026 second.

So here are my options, keeping in mind I badly need a WR3 now, future WR help, and untill/unless I can trade from my TE or RB surplus I got no roster room.

1. Decline the trade, keep Roman Wilson for now with option to cut him to pick up viable FA WR after cuts are made.

2. Accept the trade, cut Roman Wilson, lose roster spot to pick up FA WR who could help me more.

3. Counter offering Ollie Gordon.

4. Trade Kyle Williams for a late projected 2, and then accept Teslaa trade for a projected late 3.

I'm leaning 1 but please tell me where if you'd do it differently, keeping in mind again the roster constraints.

Unless your league does not have IR spots I do in fact think he's a must hold.
As I said above......situation matters. If you can keep him without preventing you from doing other moves then by all means keep him.
For my situation, it's hold Brooks for 3 years at $14 against a $200 cap or cut him and have $10 to spend on a new guy (that I can sign for up to 4 years). I have $75 left to spend if I keep Brooks and $85 if I don't. With Brooks, I need to add 11 guys with $75. Without it's 12 guys for $85. This is also the year the first group of 4 year contracts are now expired and are available. It's looking like a pretty stocked talent pool, so there should be some good players going cheaper than usual.

So here’s my (perhaps wacky) take:
Assuming this isn’t IDP, pay the 3rd. I drafted him with a 4th in 2 leagues. He’s done more than enough this preseason (and the team invested enough in him on draft day) that if we were drafting rookies today, he’d be a 3rd round rookie pick. Maybe even a late 2nd, depending on needs of the teams picking there.

In a startup in July, I took him with a 19th round start-up pick (of 35).

In a start-up in early August a team drafted him with a 14th round pick (out of 32)

His stock has clearly risen & the Lions have been running him with the 1st in practice and preseason - and his play has done nothing but support that decision.

I agree he’d need [something] to really be a 2025 contributor and in redraft he’s probably a BB target. But for dynasty there are several ways for him to become relevant. Jamo moving on to a high bidder, injury, or potentially just the OC using more 3 WR sets. Maybe his production comes at the expense of some of Jamo, ARSB, or LaPorta even this year.

But I’m getting into the weeds. What matters for this answer is that he’s looked solid, the team clearly loves him, and is invested in him, and his dynasty draft stock has been climbing since our rookie drafts. Honestly I wouldn’t take a 3rd for him, but would easily pay one in every one of my leagues.

Price check on TLaw these days? Got an interesting offer this morning in a 12 Team SF TEP league. I'd give TLaw, Pickens, and Mason Taylor for 2x early-mid 2026 1sts and Pacheco. My team is objectively middling or worse, so there's no 'ship coming in 25. This is a rebuild from scratch team that had very little tradeable assets and picks when I took it over.
