Errr Kevin Kolb signs with BUF - 2 yrs, $13 million max (1 Viewer)

Anyone know what the stats for philly's wr's were when he was starting?

Interested to see how much if at all mccoys presence allowed for him and the pass catchers to succeed if really at all. And if spiller could have that effect
I'm not sure off hand but he looked to TE's a lot. Celek was pretty good then.

Rotoworld:

Kevin Kolb believes Bills coach Doug Marrone is interested in a legitimate competition at quarterback.
"Here we’re both getting reps and we’re all working at it," Kolb said of his duel with first-rounder E.J. Manuel. Kolb believes his experience gives him an edge. "I wouldn’t say it’s an advantage against E.J., but it’s an advantage for me personally to be able to lean back on those type of things and those type of situations." Kolb is the favorite to get the nod for Week 1, but we fully expect Manuel to make starts this season.

Kevin Kolb doesn't agree he's Buffalo Bills' placeholderBy Gregg Rosenthal

Around The League Editor

When the Buffalo Bills drafted quarterback EJ Manuel, the expectation was that he would start in Week 1. Organized team activites and minicamp season slowly changed that perception. Now many believe that Kevin Kolb is at least on equal footing, even if Manuel clearly is the long-term answer.

"I don't buy what's being sold I guess," Kolb told the Bills' official website regarding his perceived spot as a placeholder. "I just listen to what (the coaches) tell me to do and roll on with it. I have a lot of confidence in my abilities and this offense and hopefully what I can do in it."

Kolb and Manuel both are starting from scratch learning new coach Doug Marrone's system, but Kolb should have an advantage as a veteran. He needs it. I made the point in our podcast preview of AFC East and North training camps that Kolb needs to win the quarterback battle by a wide margin in order to be a Week 1 starter. Anything close to a tie goes to the rookie.

(Yes, this post was a flimsy excuse to pimp the podcast. It's July.)

Hard luck training camp and preseason for Kolb.

Kolb injured his knee slipping on a rubber mat, he had a death in the family, he fell behind E.J. Manuel on the depth chart and now this (rotoworld):

The Buffalo News' Tim Graham reports the Bills fear Kevin Kolb's concussion may end his NFL career.
"And they're proceeding with that in mind," Graham writes. It's really not surprising because Kolb has suffered numerous NFL concussions and become increasingly slow to recover. The Bills are left with Matt Leinart, UDFA Jeff Tuel, and Thad Lewis behind E.J. Manuel, who is also on the shelf with a knee scope. The Bills are going to end up rushing back Manuel, in all likelihood, to start Week 1. Kolb signed a two-year, $6.1 million contract in March that contained $1 million guaranteed. He's likely headed for injured reserve.

Whoa. Reports today now by Tim Graham that the Bills are concerned that Kolb's concussion may be career ending. They are proceeding as if it is at this point. Not only did they sign Leinart, but they traded for some scrub QB from Detroit. Apparently the hit didn't look bad, but Kolb's response in the locker room when they took him back was very "disconcerting."

:o Wow, that's unusual. Bummer for Kolb.

Rotoworld:

According to the Buffalo News' Tim Graham, Kevin Kolb struggled to answer questions like "where are you" and "what's you're name" following his concussion in the third preseason game.
Yeah, it's probably time to hang 'em up. Graham told Sirius XM Radio's Ross Tucker that Kolb is "almost certainly done for the year," in addition to fears about Kolb's long-term health. The Bills will move forward with Jeff Tuel, Matt Leinart, and Thad Lewis competing for No. 2 duties behind E.J. Manuel.

I feel terrible for the guy. Slips and hurts his knee in a freak accident, grandma dies a few days later and now it appears his career is over after a concussions that sounds like it's having devastating effects.

He was going to be the backup anyway and probably get cut after this year, but I would have liked to see him go out better than that. Best wishes to Kolb.

Rotoworld:

Kevin Kolb has a $1 million roster bonus due in March.

Kolb's long history of concussions has his career in doubt. But even if he's cleared and healthy, the Bills would likely move on and save $3.1 million against the cap. Thad Lewis, signed for $645,000 in 2014, proved himself as a very capable backup to E.J. Manuel this season.

Rotoworld:

Coach Doug Marrone said he's still unsure whether Kevin Kolb (concussions) will resume his playing career.

Kolb has suffered numerous concussions in his football career, with the latest coming in the third preseason game this past year. He spent the season on injured reserve. Kolb has been increasingly slow to recover from the head trauma and will consider hanging up his cleats. If he decides to continue playing, it likely won't be in Buffalo. He has a hefty $3.6 million cap number.

Guy was completely miscast as an NFL starting QB, but looks like his career could be over entirely.

Bills release Kevin Kolb.
Still not cleared from a concussion suffered in the 2013 preseason, this transaction may end Kolb's career. Kolb has thrown for 5206 yards and started 21 games in his career.
