Fact - Brandon Marshall is not at Bronco's practice today (1 Viewer)

So...."if" Marshall is out of the picture, and Denver doesn't get a WR in return...is there any value in Gaffney, Stokley, Lloyd?Looks like Marshall would leave behind 80-90 receptions. How would they be divided?
Gaffney and Stokley would see an uptick...as would Scheffler and Royal.

McDaniels: Marshall not "ready and able" to practice

August 27th, 2009, 4:57 pm · Post a Comment · posted by Frank Schwab

The soap opera between receiver Brandon Marshall and the Broncos continues. Marshall was held out of practice on Thursday, and all coach Josh McDaniels would say is he wasn't "ready and able" to practice. He wouldn't say if it was health related, although Marshall did not appear hurt after Wednesday's practice. McDaniels also didn't offer his typical response when asked about an absent player who is dealing with an injury.

McDaniels wasn't happy to answer more questions about Marshall, and seemed to get upset when reporters didn't stop asking about Marshall after he issued the decree that he wouldn't go into specifics about his absence.

"I'm not going to talk about it," McDaniels said. "There's a number of reasons why a guy might not be able to able and ready to go out here, and without going into detail on everybody's situation, that's either my decision or the training staff's decision that the guy can't go out here and do what we ask him to do. That's the criteria."

With only one full day of practice remaining before the Broncos play their third preseason game, it appears Marshall could miss yet another preseason game. He hasn't played yet in the preseason. Last week he said he felt healthy, but didn't know the playbook. He did not make the trip with the team.

Am I the only one that thinks an Orton-led Broncos team sans Marshall would kill the value of the entire Broncos passing game?

Orton and the madness in Denver had already killed Marshall and Royal's value. Marshall leaving is one of the few things that would help Royal's value.

Wow, this new coach is a complete idiot. He is as arrogant as Belichick but has accomplished nothing except turning a team with potential into a team with no chance before playing a game.WOW.

Ground breaking stuff here. Surprised it took how many months before someone posted this.

Its Orton!! There is no value to the Denver Passing Game. Its a mistake in my opinion to believe that it was Marshall's talents and not Cutler, Its a mistake to believe that either Marshal or Royal will have any where close to the Value that they had last year. Its Bennet and Hester and both TE's in Chicago that are going to eclipse anything Royal or Marshal does. I'm sorry I cant rally suffer this sort of baloney concerning a 2 bit spoiled child making millions of dollars. If you dont own him in a dynasty league who cares? Really there are 30 WR's to pick in front of him and everyone is still concerned about this guy? Come on folks, he is no where near the Talent that TO is. He isnt going to pick up an offense as quickly as TO and he is not going to help your fantasy team this year. Stick a fork in it already.

I wonder if McDaniels would trade him to NE?

They have swapped a few players so far.

Defenses would curl up in a ball lining up across from Moss, Welker, Galloway and Marshall in a 4 wide set.

Brandon Marshall not being at practice today was not due to a trade (yet).

Yesterday at practice, he was acting extremely insubordinate. Sitting down when the rest of the team was running, walking around while the team was warming up and punching balls with his fist that were thrown to him in the drills. Film to follow...

Marshall or McD? Just kidding...Interesting. Not surprising, but interesting. May I ask where you are getting that info from? Do you have a link?

Big time ##### move if this is true, but he's doing a great job forcing Denver's hand in this pay me or trade me issue.

starting to think this really can't end well for Marshall owners no matter what happens. He either stay on the team, disgruntled, and I've yet to meet a disgruntled employee in ANY field that is considered ultra productive, or he's suspended, or he's traded. But if he's not traded soon, he really won't have time to learn a new offense, and get chemistry with his new QB. Dynasty owners are okay, hold tight, but I'm starting to wonder if he's worth a 4th, 5th, or even 6th round pick in a redraft...

Please let him wind up in Chicago.
Man, that makes sense on so many levels.
It does if you believe Denver would openly invite a PR nightmare by reuniting Marshall with his buddy Cutler in Chicago. Especially considering Denver holds Chicago's 1st round pick next year. Why not get the Bears that missing piece to their offense for this season and reunite a couple of Broncos who could have very productive years for a decade?
There are two major problems with this. The Bears aren't going to pay Marshall what he wants considering the off the field issues. And the Bears have nothing to give up. The Broncos aren't going to accept a first round pick in 2011. As a Bear fan I don't want him. He is a head case. He reports, but then dogs it, and disrupts the training camp. If you don't want to be there then stay away. I think he is too expensive, both in compensation that you would have to give the Broncos, and the guaranteed money you would have to give him in a contract.
Sorry, I thought it was obvious but my post was fraught with
Sorry, I'm a dope. Actually there were a number of other posts about the Bears getting Marshall, and I think that is silly.

"Not ready and able."

Not ready=his mindset is not where it needs to be.

Not able=doesn't know the playbook well enough.

On the other hand, IF the Jets are really involved in this matter, I could see it. Rex Ryan is in full decision-making mode in the aftermath of naming Sanchez his starter. Having a deal in the works and nearly if not completely done in bringing in Marshall may have very well helped sway him in making that decision. And if that's the case, Denver would not have any notion of putting Marshall on the field at practice or in the media or public's eye at all.

Just an observation.

The film has been on the local news here in Denver. It should be all over the web later tonight or by tomorrow for sure...

Wow, man. Wow. I can see why he earned the nickname "Baby T.O." prior to even entering the league.

Cool, gonna be looking for that. I'm sure ESPN will be all over it too... What station in Denver was reporting that?

It just makes zero sense for Denver to reunite him with Cutler. The team is already fighting a PR battle after dealing Cutler but if they deal Marshall to the same team and Chicago has a great deal of success because of it....

Awesome. Denver front office is in for another lose/lose situation. Although I think trading Marshall is best for the team at this point.

Unreal. Thanks for the link. Gonna be an interesting season...

Denver needs to stop messing around and trade Marshall for a decent return. IDK what they are thinking. It's called divorce.. this is becoming a black eye and it looks like the franchise does not know how to respect or deal with players. Any negative action on their part doesn't come across as tough we don't take crap... it comes across as: don't come to Denver... we don't treat players well.

This whole thing is a mistake. Cut the losses and grow.

What makes you think this has been offered or is even an option? I doubt any GM who values his job trades something decent for this guy and then rewards him a new contract on top of it. I say let the guy sit if they can't get a decent offer. If they trade him, they are telling the rest of the team if they are unhappy with their contract, they pack it in and disrespect the organization util they get their way.

Wow Quite the toolish behavior from Marshall. I don't care how talented a player is, you just don't do that at practice. How can Bronco fans even support him after crap like this?

Not to defend Marshall's actions, but when the organization tells it's players to not be happy for someone who was found innocent of a crime...Thats a pretty big slap in the face

I think several GM's will trade for him. The fact is the guy did out perform his contract. There is no doubt in ANYONEs mind he deserves a better contract. I think history has been proven that players are rewarded for performances before a contract expires. -1 BroncosMcD comes in and the upper brass doesn't take into account the franchise and the people helping build it prior to that change. -1 BroncosI could go on and on... Denver looks very Mickey Mouse right now. I don't expect much more from professional athletes. This isn't about money anymore.. it's about wanting a separation and clean start. I can't blame the guy at all. Nor can I blame the franchise. SO.. in the end... you cut your losses and leave the toxic bitterness out of everything. Put on your big boy panties and forget it ever happened and point your chin in the direction of success.

You left out the part about Marshall being 1 step away from a lengthy suspension. -1 MarshallI honestly think if Denver could rid themselves of this guy and move on for something decent in return, they would have by now. It's going to be even harder now that Marshall has shown himself to be a petulant, me-first guy. -1 Marshall

From www.nationalfootballpost.com:

Yesterday, I talked with a high-level NFL executive about the situation and asked what he would do with Marshall. Would he pay him?

“The problem isn’t the play of the player, it’s the person,” he said. “Look how he has behaved before the money. What do you think he will be like when he gets the money?

“My personal take is that you can’t reward poor character.”

And that’s just it. Teams such as the Ravens have been mentioned as a possible trade destination for Marshall, but the overwhelming majority right now don’t trust him or his character.

Yeah... not to sound biased. However, I can relate to his treatment (in a way). If you've ever worked for a bad employer.... you know sometimes a situation is just bad. This is one.... teams bring in players for a change of scenery all the time. Forget what's on paper for the Denver Brass... it's over. It's DONZO. They're paying for everyone is paying for their mistakes.Anyways... I know all the facts. I just know it's a lose - lose. No reason to draw it out or dramatize it.

Good God.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Crabtree vs Mashall for biggest idiot WR award.
Considering how the Broncos handled Cutler, and the Niners have handled just about everything since Debartolo left, I wouldn't put the blame solely on the receivers.
I'm basing it on Crabtree thinking he is going to get more than his slotted position and Marshall destroying any chance of getting a big $ deal anywhere at this point. What kind of idiot GM would take this guy now after that video. Is anyone even advising these 2 losers?

Exactly. Many have said that Marshall is indeed acting like a kid, there is little doubt about that nor will I argue with you there. But so has McDaniels too. Ever since he arrived in Denver, the foundation of trust and respect seems to have been tossed right out the window and is now roadkill on I-25. McD seems to be more concerned with what current / former NE player he can suck into the Bronco mix. And I find it extremely disturbing that Bolen is allowing this BS to happen. It's just unreal...

good gravy.

It's time his ### gets suspended. I hope they threw him out of practice today and fined him for missing it. They should fine him for disrupting practice yesterday too.

I wonder if Shanahan offered him a new contract back in January, and the new staff isn't honoring that? This would piss me off too.

Is Marshall hurting his future salary options by pulling this crap? I'm thinking probably not - TO is still in the league - I'm not sure how fat his contract is, but it's not like he's out on the street. I'm not sure how this drama compares to the TO crap, but it's gotta be close.
