Ooh what a great pick. Love this song.
Thanks!Mr. Ected, thanks for keeping track. The only thing I see missing is Minnesota from the US States.
I think we are..Are we doing 7th round free for all today? I don't remember seeing that. I'm fine either way.
Damn, Spain was in my top 5 countries left.Wow the international category looks like a well picked over carcass, but here's a big chunk of meat overlooked.

Menudo is still in play, I think.Wow the international category looks like a well picked over carcass, but here's a big chunk of meat overlooked.

Cholo means something else to me. What instrument is that?
And I learned something about Mr R. He likes this tune.7.8 Gone Daddy Gone - Violent Femmes - Xylophone solo
Love this song and the group. I had this song typed in and changed it at the last minute. And it's Sunday! Since I'll be watching the Rockets in game seven tomorrow, I'd better get drafting.
7.16 "Tuesday Afternoon" - Moody Blues
Bet you knew it was for day of the week. I've always liked this group.
There are very few albums that I can listen to from beginning to end and not be tempted to skip some songs. The Violent Femmes' first album is one of those rare recordings. And I learned something about Mr R. He likes this tune.7.8 Gone Daddy Gone - Violent Femmes - Xylophone solo
I've only known him for thirty years. It's been an interesting draft.
I might mulligan one of mine for the same reason at the end of the draft. In the beginning I was most interested in compiling a cohesive mix, but the imposed scarcity has kind of left me scrambling. Hopefully when I'm done there will be some correct way to arrange everything.
Yeah, my Townes Van Zandt pick is not setting well and is on my mulligan list. I love Townes, but he's not the kind of talent that lends well to mixes; I have be all-in for a dark day devoted to him to appreciate his body of work.I might mulligan one of mine for the same reason at the end of the draft. In the beginning I was most interested in compiling a cohesive mix, but the imposed scarcity has kind of left me scrambling. Seven Eleven is the one not sitting well with me. I like the song - but it is going to be a little jarring no matter where I put it in the mix.Yeah, my Townes Van Zandt pick is not setting well and is on my mulligan list. But then again, are there any other good songs in the world about being sedated?
Isn't the state supposed to be where the artist is from?Gr00vus said:7.10 Cecil Taylor - Jonathan Wilson
State of origin - Jonathan Wilson was born in North Carolina
I guess jazz musician Cecil Taylor played on the White House Lawn for Jimmy Carter at some point, but I'm not really sure what meaning Jonathan Wilson is conveying through using that imagery in this song. I still really like this song though.
Wilson is the artist from NC, Taylor is the subject matter of the song.
No intention of anything cohesive for me. I am aiming for more of a representative mix of music I like.Mister CIA said:In the beginning I was most interested in compiling a cohesive mix, but the imposed scarcity has kind of left me scrambling. Gotcha. I guess the fact that Taylor is also a musician threw me off.
Nooooo. I like 25,000+ songs, but if I want to make an impression, I wish to pick and choose a song sequence with a purpose. No intention of anything cohesive for me. It's my first draft so maybe next time I can try something cohesive. I'm just picking songs I like that fit the categories and represent the styles I like.Nooooo. Anybody want to argue over including names of cocktails?7.xx "Haitian Divorce" - Steely Dan (drug/alcohol - zombie)
"She drinks the zombie from the cocoa shell."
Great talk box work from Dean Parks here - one of their best tunes IMO.
None here.7.xx "
I'd count it as rum. Rum is its main liquor ingredient.Anybody want to argue over including names of cocktails?7.xx "Haitian Divorce" - Steely Dan (drug/alcohol - zombie)

lol.... dammit- that's snipe #3. great tune. liked that it if you imagined in your head what a Wall of Voodoo and Police mashup would sound like- it would be that tune.Going reggae flavor at the 6 and 7 turn:
6.xx "Don't Box Me In" - Stewart Copeland and Stan Ridgway (solo artist - Police)
Sort of a two-for-one solo act - could have gone Wall of Voodoo as the artist instead, but they're not all that popular themselves outside of "Mexican Radio". Really liked this tune ever since it came off the Rumble Fish soundtrack - very unique and creative.

I'm having similar problems with my mix flow as well, which leads to this question for the commish: if I'm going to replace my international song, do I need to replace it with a different song by the same band OR a song from a different band from the same country OR a song from a band from a different non-drafted country all together? All of the above?Mister CIA said:Yeah, my Townes Van Zandt pick is not setting well and is on my mulligan list. The honorable thing to do would be to stick with the same country. I don't think there would be any complaints about that.I'm having similar problems with my mix flow as well, which leads to this question for the commish: if I'm going to replace my international song, do I need to replace it with a different song by the same band OR a song from a different band from the same country OR a song from a band from a different non-drafted country all together? I don't think you should be able to change countries because part of this draft is blocking others. Same for any category. If you picked beer, you should only be able to change for another beer song.I'm having similar problems with my mix flow as well, which leads to this question for the commish: if I'm going to replace my international song, do I need to replace it with a different song by the same band OR a song from a different band from the same country OR a song from a band from a different non-drafted country all together? That makes sense to me. So either of the first 2 options I listed but not the third?I don't think you should be able to change countries because part of this draft is blocking others. That's my opinion. I think it would be kind of BS to block a category and then take it back later. That makes sense to me.
