**Fake Scarcity Mixtape Draft #1: Tuesday picks 12 & 4PM EDT (3 Viewers)

Not sure if this qualifies for the Band/Solo category, but if you ask the average person from that era, The Bangles were huge.

Matthew Sweet & Susanna Hoffs - I've Seen All Good People (Your Move/All Good People) - Band/Solo

Nice that Steve Howe played on the track.
I mentioned Sweet/Hoffs a few pages back with their cover of "September Gurls". They did a couple of albums worth of covers together, and they do a great rendition on most.

Their stuff is very well done. I just wasn't sure if she would fit into this category, some may have forgotten The Bangles walking like Egyptians.

5.12 - Whiskey - Trampled by Turtles (Category: USA song by state - Minnesota)

I saw these guys three weeks ago at Merlefest, and they were fantastic.

We're going to keep the draft going through tomorrow and then switch to one pick per day (plus makeups) starting on Saturday.
Back to regular draft next week or one per day going forward?

I assume we'll finish round #5 today at least. That would leave 6-7 over the weekend. We could do morning and afternoon picks on Mon-Tues to bring us through round 11. I think there will some mix jockeying after that and we can finish things up with the wild card round on Wed.

Are we in a big hurry to finish this for some reason?

Not a big fan of the clock being on over the weekend.

Very Nice. Was thinking of them for another category. (Also there goes my purple guy from Minnesota...)

5.03: The Black Crowes - Good Friday (day of the week/month of the year in the title)
I never realized what a little guy Chris Robinson is until the first time I saw them live. They put on a great show.
little?

he subletted a loft the floor below an old office of mine (15yo ago), so we'd share the elevator occasionally. I remember him being normal, tallish? but very skinny. *caveat- my memory sucks.

other things I remember about him- he had a neapolitan mastiff (my favorite dog). also- any time the elevtor door to his loft opened, it was like spicoli's van door opening. he might have smoked just a little bit of marji.

Little as in very skinny. The first time I saw him was at a Furthur Festival in the 90s, and he had on these tight bell bottom jeans and a t-shirt, and he was really thin.

gotcha- that fits my memory too. scary skinny- auschwitzy. for a guy that clearly smoked as much pot as he did- surprised he didn't eat more.

Skip me, I'll pick in a bit.

Autoskip for the rest of the weekend actually. I'll pick soon for this one, but out of pocket the rest.

Nice turn Binky
Thanks man! I really hope to turn some of the FBGs onto these classics or remind them of how good they are and bring out the old playlists on spotify. Its also great to discover other stuff people love. Love these drafts - thanks for running it!
The more drafts we do, the more I've shied away from the classics as great as they are. Just have taken them too many times over the years.

I am trying to stay away from stuff I have taken in the past, but I don't have those lists anymore so I can't be sure. There are just so many.

5.01 Maybe I'm Amazed - Paul McCartney (Category - Solo Artist that wasn't as popular as their group)

What a song. This was tough because I am more naturally drawn to more of George Harrison's solo catalog but this song has such a pull. When Paul is good he is so very good and when he is bad ...he can be so very bad.

Paul was hugely popular but none of them were ever going to surpass the Beatles.
Simp-ly hav-ing a wonderful Christmas time. . . . . oof :wall:

Allman Brothers are a huge blind spot for me. Not sure I have heard more than a song or two of their stuff. Love these drafts as a reminder to get my ### in gear on stuff like this.

I think because it's a nice spring day here, and because my sick cat woke me up in the middle of night, I'm feeling a little more mellow than the direction I was setting up for my mix. plus Massive Attack pretty goes with anything...

5.17 Saturday Come Slow- Massive Attack (day of the week/month)

I assume that pick is 5.17 and I'm up?

I love this song and feel like it was really overlooked when it was released:

5.18 - Brett Anderson - Back to You - solo from guy with bigger band (Suede)
