The Barenaked Ladies - Alcohol
A love song to alcohol.![]()
"Alcohol"
Alcohol, my permanent accessory
Alcohol, a party-time necessity
Alcohol, alternative to feeling like yourself
O Alcohol, I still drink to your health
I love you more than I did the week before
I discovered alcohol
Forget the cafe latte,
screw the raspberry iced tea
A Malibu and Coke for you, a G&T for me
Alcohol, Your songs resolve like
my life never will
When someone else is picking up the bill
I love you more than I did the week before
I discovered alcohol
O Alcohol, would you please forgive me?
For while I cannot love myself
I'll use something else
I thought that Alcohol was just for those with
nothing else to do
I thought that drinking just to get drunk
was a waste of precious booze
But now I know that there's a time
and there's a place where I can choose
To walk the fine line between
self-control and self-abuse
I love you more than I did the week before
I discovered alcohol
Would you please ignore that you
found me on the floor
Trying on your camisole?
O Alcohol, would you please forgive me?
For while I cannot love myself
I'll use something else
Would you please forgive me?
Would you please forgive me?

You guys sure are some hardassed nerds. I intentionally put the mulligan round before the wild card round so people could swap songs freely. If someone drops an artist, country, number, etc. you want, there's nothing preventing you from picking up the discard and dropping your pick from the category. That's my opinion. I think it would be kind of BS to block a category and then take it back later. That makes sense to me. So either of the first 2 options I listed but not the third?I don't think you should be able to change countries because part of this draft is blocking others. Same for any category. If you picked beer, you should only be able to change for another beer song.I'm having similar problems with my mix flow as well, which leads to this question for the commish: if I'm going to replace my international song, do I need to replace it with a different song by the same band OR a song from a different band from the same country OR a song from a band from a different non-drafted country all together? All of the above?Mister CIA said:Yeah, my Townes Van Zandt pick is not setting well and is on my mulligan list. I love Townes, but he's not the kind of talent that lends well to mixes; I have be all-in for a dark day devoted to him to appreciate his body of work. But then again, are there any other good songs in the world about being sedated?sn0mm1s said:I might mulligan one of mine for the same reason at the end of the draft.Mister CIA said:In the beginning I was most interested in compiling a cohesive mix, but the imposed scarcity has kind of left me scrambling. "A Flower is a Lovesome Thing" is my favorite album by him. It's a very chill album, and nice to hear when having a nice dinner or just relaxing.Because I don't think he'd ever be drafted here, and because I'm averse to starting new threads, I'll impose now and say that YouTubing Vince Guaraldi is my new favorite guilty pleasure. I love his music.

This is the internet; you can't be reasonable.Seems reasonableI'd count it as rum. Rum is its main liquor ingredient.Anybody want to argue over including names of cocktails?7.xx "Haitian Divorce" - Steely Dan (drug/alcohol - zombie)
"She drinks the zombie from the cocoa shell."
Great talk box work from Dean Parks here - one of their best tunes IMO.
I thought I had this one in the bag. Can't believe there were two other people lined up for it ahead of me.lol.... dammit- that's snipe #3. great tune. liked that it if you imagined in your head what a Wall of Voodoo and Police mashup would sound like- it would be that tune.Going reggae flavor at the 6 and 7 turn:
6.xx "Don't Box Me In" - Stewart Copeland and Stan Ridgway (solo artist - Police)
Sort of a two-for-one solo act - could have gone Wall of Voodoo as the artist instead, but they're not all that popular themselves outside of "Mexican Radio". Really liked this tune ever since it came off the Rumble Fish soundtrack - very unique and creative.
I'm having a blonde moment. Are we still doing one-a-day picks tomorrow, or are we back to picking in order?

I'm feeling very uncommisionish today for some reason.
We were averaging about 2 rounds/day and there are a lot of people on skip. I think you suggested having a free for all am pick and a pm pick on Monday and Tuesday. That gives us Wednesday for the potpourri round and mulligans. I thought it was a good idea.I'm having a blonde moment. Awesome song.Binky The Doormat, on 17 May 2015 - 8:32 PM, said:7.01 I Need to Know - Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers (Category - USA state - Florida)
Trying to go with lots of memories here. So many good tunes from these guys, but this song was my introduction to them.
First time I heard it - it was on the radio in my friends apartment. Only he wasn't home and I just happened to be breaking in through the 3rd floor window from the fire escape in order to have sex with a very attractive mid-30s divorcee I had met at a club.
It was a good night.
Wiki: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers is an American rock band from Gainesville, Florida.
Go Betweens were a Brisbane band (3rd biggest city in Oz) and were snubbed by the bigger Sydney and Melbourne markets outside the indie darling audience.Since there's not a lot of Go-Betweens chatter on this board, this seems like the best place to post an Australian TV documentary on the band's 16 Lovers Lane album. Marco will love it but I think some others might find it interesting. I always like shows that talk about the making of an album, the technical stuff, the gossip, the stories behind the songs.

What did you do with 11:59?
Not sure if it ruled out 11, 59 or 1159.
There is a very popular song with 59 in it that may still be taken.
I took 11 with a different song so it has to be 59 or 1159Thanks for doing this. What did you do with 11:59?Mr. Ected said:Here is today's update on closed out items...Let me know if I missed anything.

round 9 picks at 4PM Eastern
Make-ups whenever
I almost took this one instead of PJ. I saw her in concert a few months ago--she puts on a great show.7.20 Avant Gardener - Courtney Barnett Drugs/Alcohol (Pseudoephedrine)

I've tried to get into her but just can't do it. Something about her voice/cadence - it's almost a female David Byrne (that's not a good thing).7.20 Avant Gardener - Courtney Barnett Drugs/Alcohol (Pseudoephedrine)

IMO if you have to question it, you should find something clearer.Do we have an official determining factor of whether a solo artist or his/her band is more popular? I have one where I'm on the fence. Band has more Spotify followers, but solo has more individual song listens.
