This does the have the potential to be a great contest; but accounting for all the jackoffs who can't read the rules and compose teams with no chance of winning (just advancing) just totally ruins it for me. Just way to many entries where people took 2-3 players from like 5-6 teams...wish they could all just be eliminated for stupidity and let the real entries compete.
In addition, waiting for results and still not having percentages up yet is pretty sad considering it's a playoff week and there are only 4 games...how much analysis time do they need...most of this should be automated by now anyway.
I like having those guys around
1st place: $1,000 + lifetime subscription
2nd place: $250 + lifetime subscription
3rd place: $200 + lifetime subscription
4th place: $100 + 2013 subscription
5th place: $75 + 2013 subscription
You give me 72 entires out of the 5000 and I place one team in the top 5 every time.36 super bowl combos x 2 different sets of supporting players. How many large contests offer you a 1/72 chance of winning???
Obviously not a stats guy, huh?Having a few of those guys around is fun to laugh at and in most cases does increase the odds of winning, but when it is so rampant that it has the possibility to severely alter cut lines it loses some luster. Luck starts to play an even greater factor too.
It's like when I'm playing baseball and at bat....while it's nice if the other team throws some meatballer throwing 65mph who I can .600 off of if I want to pad my stas, I find it much more fun and fullfilling when I have to face the guy throwing 80-85. I might occassionally K or only hit .350, but at least it was a worthwhile competition.
hmmmm, so you're mad at the people who's entries are keeping you from winning, or should we say challenging you.. yet in this doozy of an example you explain how you like to be challenged and even lose or "K" occasionally
Not so much that they keep me from winning, just that they screw up and
alter the game unfairly - for all...I do my best to adjust my entries to account for them....but, my original point was it gets pretty frustrating they are showing up to play football by bringing a baseball. Can it increase chances of winning...sure if there aren't too many of them...but it can also distort the results
unfairly too.
I feel bad for the guys that maybe put in an hour of constructing his team for a good shot to try and win by picking, for example 10 guys from 2 teams and filling in others as they felt are needed to try and make the early rounds...then he gets bumped out by someone who took 20 minutes, didn't read the rules properly and only picked 2-3 guys from 6 teams and has no chance of winning. Maybe I'll be one of them, maybe I won't...but none of us should really have to be in that position because someone is too dumb to understand the rules.
Kind of like in your fantasy league when a guys gets an automatic win because the other guy forgot to set his team or quit the league when they were out of contention...then it ends up impacting who makes the playoffs. That's why most leagues allow commissioner control to set teams rosters for these occassions.
