Woohoo...sounds like you did a search on a police computer...just asking if so can you lose your job?

From chicagosports,com......

Sources familiar with the case said police apparently were seeking drugs.

Charges could be filed later this afternoon as a result of the search, sources said.

Johnson declined to talk with reporters in the Bears locker room midday Thursday and was not seen at practice. Bears officials refused to comment on the incident and Coach Lovie Smith was expected to be asked about the situation later this afternoon.

And like stated above.......Tank was not at the house at the time.

This is from the Chicago Tribune:

Gurnee police executed a search warrant Thursday at the home of Chicago Bears defensive tackle Terry "Tank" Johnson in what sources described as an apparent drug raid.

Johnson, a third-year Bear who has had two previous run-ins with the law since joining the NFL team, apparently was not home when Gurnee police executed a search warrant shortly before 11 a.m. in the 400 block of Delany Road in the far north suburb.

The Bears already are without one starting defensive tackle because of the ruptured hamstring injury suffered by Tommie Harris that sent him to injured reserve for the remainder of the season.

In a news release, Gurnee police said "some items sought in the warrant were discovered inside the home," but police refused to disclose the nature of the items recovered.

Police did say two adults — a 26-year-old male and a 25-year-old female — were in the Delany Road home along with a toddler and an infant.

Officers with the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System assisted Gurnee police in the six-minute search.

Neighbors reported that police escorted a man from the house in handcuffs following the raid. Police did not identify the man, but neighbors said they believed he lived at the residence with Johnson and Johnson's girlfriend and children.

Witnesses said at least 20 police officers participated in the raid.

Neighbors also said complaints had been made to Gurnee police in the past about as many as six pit bulls that were seen caged in the back yard of Johnson's home.

In addition, neighbors said complaints had been filed alleging that someone fired a gun in the back yard of the home.

Last March, prosecutors dropped battery and resisting arrest charges filed against Johnson in February when a police officer who scuffled with Johnson outside a Rush Street nightclub refused to proceed with the case, authorities said.

The February arrest also led to violation of probation charges to be filed against Johnson, who had been placed on 18 months' probation in November 2005 after he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor unlawful gun possession charge.

The violation charges also were dismissed when the battery case was dropped, prosecutors said.

Johnson, a third-year defensive tackle out of the University of Washington who celebrated his 25th birthday on Dec. 7, has 20 tackles and 3.5 sacks this season.

Edit: to take out the pics/ad stuff

Raid and somebody in the house led away in cuffs does not equate to Tank missing any playing time.

Just keep getting continuances until after the Super Bowl.

Innocent until proven guilty.

NO LINK WAS ADDED TO THE POST...THATS WHY!
You didn't notice it mentioned the word "release" about 3 or 4 times?
WTF you chatting about (release) :fishing:

If for some reason he IS in trouble and won't be able to play, that will be the 3rd DT out for the year, including both starters.

NOT GOOD NEWS.

Seriously, that's huge. Tank is a pretty major component to their run defense especially. On the other hand, hasn't the NFL's policy been to wait until after players have gone through the legal system to penalize them? As long as Tank's lawyers can string this out, I would imagine that this won't impact him this season.

The NFL can't do any suspending until he's actually convicted of something - unless of course he gets imprisoned.

Ian Scott, Alfonso Boone and Israel Idonije can rotate at DT.

Ogunleye, Alex Brown and Mark Anderson can rotate at DE.

I'm not worried whatsoever about this for this football season....

Chris Henry has been breaking the law and playin' all season long.

Man what a lousy break, those cops should know you can find drugs anywhere in this city. What are the odds?
Actually it was in Gurnee, and According to 670 the score radio, it is in a very seedy area, and it might just be property he owns and not his main residence, but there really isn't any info yet to confirm anything.

Stinking pigs why don't just ask if they want drugs, I'm sure he would hook them up.

ESPNNews has him charged with gun possession.
Figures. It certainly didn't look like his neighborhood was wrought with crime that he would need guns for protection.all kidding aside I wouldn't think they would get a search warrant for guns more than likely looking for something else and found only the guns.

Ya, real seedy: http://a.abclocal.go.com/images/wls/cms_ex..._tankshouse.jpgThat's what you get for listening to somebody from Deerfield that attended Duke.

Here's the deal guys.

He has no drug charges against him.

He was charged for not having a gun owner's permit and having six weapons.

He posted ONE HUNDRED DOLLAR BAIL and was released.

My opinion: There's NO WAY he'll miss any games this season. Next year may be a different story. The NFL can't suspend somebody for 'charges'. When he's found guilty - then they'll take action.

This house is in the same neighborhood I lived in throughout high school, literally about 100 yards away.

It's a very middle class area, some newer homes, some about 20 years old. None could possibly be worth more than like 450k or so. Hardly seedy. I'd say this was some EXTREMELY lazy reporting.

Chris Henry has been arrested 4 times this year and he's still playing.

He was suspended for two games, though.

WHY was he suspended though? Wasn't he found guilty of something. Chase, you know as well as I do - there's no way the NFL does anything to him this season. Hell, Leonard Little KILLED somebody and then got another DUI afterwards. How long (if ever) did it take for him to get any time off?

It appears that the charges are very minor. From what I understand he's on probation though.

My question for the legal types is: Does a misdemeanor violate his probation? What about possession of a firearm?

From chicagobears.com:

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Bears defensive tackle Tank Johnson on Thursday was charged with six misdemeanor counts of possession of a firearm without a Firearm Owner’s Identification card. He was released after posting a $1,000 bond.

The Gurnee Police Department executed a search warrant at Johnson’s home late Thursday morning.

The Bears selected Tank Johnson in the second round of the 2004 NFL Draft.

Entry to the home was made at 10:58 a.m. and the home and the occupants were secured at 11:04 a.m. Present in the home were a 26-year-old male, a 25-year-old female, a toddler and an infant. Johnson was at Halas Hall when the search took place.

“I know that a search warrant was executed,” said coach Lovie Smith. “Tank Johnson was with us the entire day. I found out about it a little before practice. He’s cooperating right now.

“We’re disappointed in the situation that’s come up right now. It’s a distraction for the team and all of that. But again, I’ll get more details and go from there.”

The Gurnee police reported that no one was injured during the service of the warrant and area residents were not in danger. Some items sought in the warrant were discovered inside the home.

Last March, prosecutors dropped battery and resisting arrest charges filed against Johnson in February stemming from an incident outside a Chicago nightclub. That arrest violated his probation that resulted from a guilty plea to a misdemeanor unlawful gun possession charge.

“It is definitely a concern because Tank has had to deal with some things like this in the past,” Smith said Thursday.

Asked about Johnson’s availability for Sunday’s home game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Smith said: “Tank’s status right now is just like it was before. All I know right now is that there was a search warrant to check his home. As I get information, I’ll make decisions from there.”

The Bears have already lost starting defensive tackle Tommie Harris for the remainder of the season with a ruptured hamstring that required surgery on Tuesday.

“Right now we know that we’ve lost Tommie Harris and we’re down one good defensive football player,” Smith said. “But if we would lose Tank or any of our other defensive linemen … that would put us down to seven. That would make it more difficult, but that is a strong group that we have. We have other good players that we feel comfortable playing.”

670 The Score is also reporting that any disciplinary actions from Lovie would happen after the season/playoffs. They are going to update it throughout the day:

I think his probation is his only real problem- unless that AR-15 was modified to fully automatic, in which case the Feds will be talking to him.

Just read on Rotoworld that Lovie said he's not going to play Sunday and will be inactive. Rotoworld quoted a Chicago Tribune article.

ESPN just reported that Tank won't play this week as well. Bears just need him for the playoffs anyway.

AP reports police seized about 550 rounds of ammunition from the home of Chicago Bears DT Tank Johnson during a raid last month, according to new court documents. The ammunition was discovered in Johnson's kitchen, basement, garage and bedroom. Police also found six guns, marijuana and unlabeled pills believed to be the prescription painkiller hydrocodone, the Daily Herald reported, citing search warrant documents filed Friday in Lake County Circuit Court. Johnson was charged with six counts of possession of a firearm without a gun-owner identification card. Authorities said they found a semiautomatic rifle with 19 live rounds in the master bedroom, four unloaded weapons -- two rifles and two handguns -- and a loaded .45-caliber handgun under a leather chair in the basement.

Who else is tired of reading about these no good thugs. When are they going to wise up to the fact that they are millionaires and don't have to live the Gangsta life anymore. F---ing morons. The league needs to start treating these f-ups like the criminals they are.

and from an article I read, he had a girlfriend and 2 kids living in the house. My favorite part was...During the raid, police said they discovered a “business-type card” inside a gym bag that listed the telephone numbers of Bears coach Lovie Smith and team security chief Tom Dillon.“On the reverse side of the card is listed warnings about the legal limit for DUI and possessing a firearm without a valid (identification),” according to court documents.

Bears spokesman Scott Hagel said all team players received the card.

“It’s all part of the training our players receive at the beginning of the year,” he said.
