FFA Fantasy Hockey 2017-2018 (1 Viewer)

Nylander is a top 100 player now and before the season. Lindholm is waiver wire fodder now and before the season. It was a bad trade regardless of what bonus points Thornton does/doesn't add by the end of the season.
So we vote down bad trades?  Ok, got it.

With 30 games left in the season I tried too shake things up, sry.  Didn't know my team was such a threat.

Nylander is a huge drag on hits and blocks. Not that Lindholm helps much with either, but Nylander's value in this league is not great, which is why he's already been traded twice.

Do me a solid.  When should I give up, date would help.
I don't think anyone believes you should give up. There's a difference between giving up and making lopsided trades that won't help you but may benefit a team at the top of the standings though.

Nylander deal wasn't that bad IMO.  Thornton part didn't make sense but was low chance he played again so who cares.  I'd rather have Nylander but I don't think it's way out of whack or anything.

Monahan deal made no sense though.  sending a top 50 guy to a team in the top 3 for two players that are borderline rosterable with limited upside this late in the season when you aren't behind in starts doesn't add up.

leeg didn't vote it down though so wtf do I know.  hopefully Cav didn't put me on ignore so I can apologize for ripping that deal and still rip his future deals.

Last 30 days...
Monahan ranked 111
Spooner ranked 126
M.Backlund ranked 210

At this time of the season, last 30 days is a little more important to me imo.

I'm sure I'll get accused and abused shortly for trying to help out again.   :bag:

What I don't understand is Spooner on his bench.

That was a weird trade, but could see a terrible team wanting two decent bodies for one good player. Makes no sense if he's just going to start Backlund and leave Spooner on his bench but he's only had the guys for a few days at this point so seems premature to judge it.

and now Monahan is at 51 for last 30 days.  everything has context and you're pulling numbers when byes, a couple big games, or stuff like Marchand being out of the lineup for two weeks have an impact.  I'm sure if I offer you Duchene (65) and Johansen (157) for Wheeler (88) there's exactly zero chance you're hitting the accept button.  but if I put Stamkos (129) in there you can't hit it fast enough.

I don't think you have to look much further than the % owned on that one to know it's a tad risky for Cav.  sure Spooner could surprise down the stretch and make it look worthwhile.  but when you aren't behind in starts and consider the place each team in the standings is in, it doesn't make much sense IMO.

plus the Canes are terrible.

I have offered cav some 2-1s lately.......if I'm not mistaken, my 2 combined had better stats than his 1.  I like spooner alot, but I just got Schwartz & Dubinsky back and my deal for Mika has fizzled, since he looks awful after returning from his concussion.  Spooner has been pretty good since returning from injury.

Edit to say - if cav is open for business and making deals, I will try to get in.  It's on him to use the guys.  I am not a fan of the bottom 3rd making deals late in the season, but I have done so in other leagues just so I don't finish last (which is almost every year).

Did you call him a chode?  That might help.

speaking of trades, at some point I'm probably going to have to overpay with scoring for a goalie to have any shot at making up some points so if one of you chodes can make me an offer that would be great.

When I ran all those leagues, I would try to find angles to approve trades. That post I made was just that based on the info the day the trade was made. Those 30 days do change quickly both good and bad for sure, so point well taken.  I think the way Yahoo ranks them is pretty solid.

In the old days, I'd get people that ##### all the time and I had to have something legit to tell them why I approved the trade I did. If I historically had seen a certain type of trade work "30%" of the time or better, I approved it. Who knows, maybe Spooner is finally coming into his own.  The trade that was voided was imo a "10%" of the time trade and had to be voided.

What makes these 2-1 trades even worse is the team getting one player is usually getting by far the better player in the trade AND he gets to sign a FA with the spot OR take someone off IR w/o having to waive a player.  That makes these trades even worse. The guy getting two players rarely understands this or just doesn't care.

And that's the problem here. It needs to be the two stats you gave up for the stats of one PLUS the player you sign off FA or take off IR you get for free. That's what usually make s these trades so lopsided.

Do you really think I knew who was where in the standing?

When I offered trades?

I agree with you 100%

Probably, shouldn't did the 2nd.  But after the first getting shut down....I was pissed.

I agree

X building a monster on the back of Cav. Gametime getting tooled.
To be fair, I only had to give up Letang.  I threw in aa, because there was no else to throw in.  I don't play aa.

I offered aa for lindholm weeks ago and got shot down....so still confused.

I will not trade anymore after Sunday.  You show me the value you lost after the season, I will pay you the difference.

spots 2-6 seem to have tightened up.  Any chance someone can catch gametime in the next month?   is this winner take all?
