I'll set aside for a second that Sudfeld and Thompkins haven't actually done anything yet, because I think they'll both be good this year. I think Alfred Morris is a much better example, because we already know how that turned out.But then you have Zach sudfeld and kenbrell thompkins. (Just food for thought)Yes. This. For this reason I have Christine Michael instead of Stacy and Marquise Goodwin instead of Rogers. The same thing happened with Zac Stacy and Da'Rick Rogers. The lesson should be not to spend high rookie picks on guys who were late rounders in the NFL draft. Not only is there a reason that they fell, but NFL draft status imparts a prospect with a bit of inertia to protect against sudden shocks in value. I would assume his roster spot if fairly safe, but he really hasn't shown anything to warrant that.
The point can't be that we hyped the wrong late round player/UDFAs. Who were the good 2nd round picks this year at WR/TE? Maybe Patton and Stills? Not crying if I blew a 2nd on Rogers and Stacy if all it means is I missed out on Stills. No one drafted those guys in the 2nd round. At least not until they'd somewhat proven themselves. But then you have Zach sudfeld and kenbrell thompkins. (Just food for thought)
A large (very large) percentage of the "regulars" here are dynasty owners. There are lots of insignificant cuts being posted in here unless you play dynasty.

With two punters, they didn't actually need any quarterbacks. Just punt on every down.I am surprised that the Raiders kept 4 QBs but then again with their line they might need all of them.
Neither was drafted. We had our draft in May and nobody heard of either of these guys. But then you have Zach sudfeld and kenbrell thompkins. (Just food for thought)Yes. This. He made the team.Old news. Just so happens that he hasn't had any new news posted on rotoworld since he got hurt last year. I think he makes the Seahawks team. But does have a concussion that might sideline him a week or two.'causeOn Rotoworld. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/6064/stephen-williamsDo you have a link for this? I haven't seen it anywhere.Stephen Williams waived/injured from Hawks.
it's weird, if you search Seahawks WRs, it's not there. If you search Williams, you get the above.
Cardinals waived/injured WR Stephen Williams (Achilles) and LB Brandon Williams (shoulder).
Stephen Williams sustained an Achilles' tendon injury during Monday's practice. He was battling for the No. 5 wideout job with undrafted rookie LaRon Byrd. Fri, Aug 31, 2012 04:10:00 PM
Trying to trade Flynn back to Green Bay? Or avoiding the embarrassment of cutting their 4th round pick?Following up on previous....Raiders kept four QBs
Ok, gotcha. Read that differently. No one drafted those guys in the 2nd round. At least not until they'd somewhat proven themselves. But then you have Zach sudfeld and kenbrell thompkins. (Just food for thought)
Preach it brother!Represent.A large (very large) percentage of the "regulars" here are dynasty owners. There are lots of insignificant cuts being posted in here unless you play dynasty.
Besides, cut-down day is going to be largely irrelevant for redraft leagues. 99% of the time, if you're on the roster bubble, you weren't considered fantasy-viable in redraft in the first place. The guys getting cut are the 3rd or 4th stringers, whereas in redraft, if you're not 1st or 2nd string (or 3rd string at WR), you're worthless anyway. Cut-down day is a day with much greater significance in dynasty than in redraft.
I think it has more to do with Dwyers "commitment" to football as a priority.Dwyer cut from Steelers. Not sure if this says more about Felix or the thealth of L. Bell.
Oakland would have to eat a bunch of the $ left on the contract. No way Green Bay or most anyone else pays a backup 6.5 million.Trying to trade Flynn back to Green Bay? Or avoiding the embarrassment of cutting their 4th round pick?Following up on previous....Raiders kept four QBs
4 QBs, no QBs, Hard to tell.I am surprised that the Raiders kept 4 QBs but then again with their line they might need all of them.
Has the recession finally hit the NFL? I figure that 77 rookies are cheaper than 77 veterans.I found this interesting:
@ClaytonESPN: The surprising part of the current rosters is that 77 undrafted rookies made teams. Normally, there are about 50
The bottom line for every NFL team is just fine. Teams aren't cutting total salary, but they're redistributing it to the players that make the most money.Has the recession finally hit the NFL? I figure that 77 rookies are cheaper than 77 veterans.I found this interesting:

I also think some of it has to do with many regime changes and coaching changes around the league. Just looking at the Bears (my home team) - they are keeping 9 rookies plus 2 other guys that have never started an NFL game before. That's almost 1 in 5. At the same time, they cut ties with many highly drafted players in the old regime and even some of their own (Harden, Webb, Urlacher retiring, etc.)The bottom line for every NFL team is just fine. That was my first thought....Does McGahee make sense?Right now, Rice and Pierce are the only RBs on the Ravens roster.
Peanuts compared to the $$ they wasted on Palmer/FlynnRoss Tucker@RossTuckerNFL14m
Close to $500K signing bonus down the drain. MT: @ProFootballTalk: Raiders are waiving fourth-round QB Tyler Wilson, per league source
nah it's pretty normal since they started that compensatory pick dealI was wondering about this, in reverse. Seems like there were a lot more draft picks that didn't make rosters this year. Especially 4-6th round guys.
Flynn, yes, wasted. In fairness though, over the last year and half Palmer has started 26 games for the Raiders, thrown for for 6500+ yards and 35 TDs, and last season posted a respectable 85.3 passer rating while throwing 22TDs and 14 INTs over 15 games.Peanuts compared to the $$ they wasted on Palmer/FlynnRoss Tucker@RossTuckerNFL14m

You could discuss whether that production (mostly in garbage time, none of which amounted to much in terms of wins) was worth the $13 million a year Oakland was paying Palmer (I certainly don't think it was), but I don't think it's going out on a limb to suggest that Carson Palmer's production for the Oakland Raiders this year (0 yards, 0 TDs) will be worth nowhere near the $9.5 million dollars he'll be eating up on Oakland's cap.Flynn, yes, wasted. Bowe, then...Obviously only significant for those with deep dynasty rosters.
Chiefs waived WR Devon Wylie.
It's funny that neither of the two best options after Avery (Jenkins and Hemingway) caught a pass their rookie year.Bowe, then...Obviously only significant for those with deep dynasty rosters.
Chiefs waived WR Devon Wylie.
Avery
AJ Jenkins
McCluster
Hemingway
Can't quite make up my mind what to think of the guy, but have a feeling Hemingway may turn out to be the answer opposite Bowe here. McCluster is a gadget guy, Jenkins and Avery have both washed out elsewhere and Hemingway has looked pretty good in the preseason. If Kelce doesn't emerge as a standout TE the WR2 could have some value as well.

My point. If Oakland felt "stuck" with Palmer then they shouldn't have let him go. I think he's a fine QB. Generally the contract goes with a player so this is odd and seems mishandled by them. It's not surprising to see the Raiders shoot themselves in the foot.My point.
