Football Player nicknames that stick (1 Viewer)

I was thinking about the nickname AD and I'm not sure it will stick unless ESPN and the networks broadcasting the games call him that all the time. What nicknames can you think of that don't have the real initials in them (LT) or the full name (Billy Whiteshoes Johnson) in the where when you hear it you have don't have to think about who it is. This is what I came up with so far:

The Nigerian Nightmare

Joe Cool

Ocho Cinco

Sweetness

Prime Time

Jack "Hacksaw" Reynolds was an American football player who started out as a fullback and changed to linebacker. He was a first-round draft pick by the Los Angeles Rams in 1970 and played there 11 years before going to the San Francisco 49ers in 1981. He played with the Niners 3 more years and won 2 Super Bowls with them: Super Bowl XVI and Super Bowl XIX. He wore the number 64 throughout his career. Played in a total of 13 postseason games.

Reynolds earned his nickname in college by sawing a Porsche 914 in half with a hacksaw after his team lost a game to Mississippi 38-0.

Several Cowboys:

Ed "Too Tall" Jones

Thomas "Hollywood" Henderson

Darryl "Moose" Johnston

Also:

Billy "White Shoes" Johnson

Joe CoolOcho Cinco
I have no idea who these are supposed to be. I didn't know Snoopy played football.IMO a nickname doesn't really "count" just because Chris Berman said it. And really unless they have a really long last name (like Chris Ma'fuu'ma-allamama or whatever that guy was) most nowdays IMO are pointless and idiotic. esp the ones where people take their first initial and first few letters of their last name. Like "JPepp" or "JLo" or whatever. :banned: Very elementary school-ish.

:goodposting: I know who ocho cinco is, but that one will most likely not stand the test of time. Who's Joe Cool supposed to be? Seriously. Is that supposed to be Montana? 'Cuz to me he's just Joe Montana.
Yeah, that's Joe Montana. Maybe they only call him that here in California, I just assumed he was called that everywhere.

Pacman. What about Ickey? I'm fairly certain his momma didn't stick him with that one...
I actually think it was his Grandma (seriously).Anyhow my submissions - plural:The Marx BrothersThe Three AmigosThe HogsThe Four HorsemenThe No Name DefenseThe Killer B'sSack ExchangeSingular:Iron MikeFlipperCadillacLittle TrainThe Majik ManPac ManJuiceRomoMean JoeAnd not so Serious:The WhizzinatorChris EverettPoopsAnd comically incorrect:The Touchdown MakerTouchdown TommyHe Hate Me and Ocho Cinco fall into that rare category of self-appointed nicknames. The epitome of which comes from basketball: The Big Aristotle.-QG

I think Ocho Cinco is going to stand up pretty well - as long as he doesn't switch to another number.

It's in Spanish - which separates it from 99% of other American football nicknames.

Didn't see "Steel Curtain" but probably missed it. Also 70s Colts' D was called the "Sack Pack"Also Brodway Joe, and didn't see Ed "Too Tall" Jones. I think Deacon Jones had a nickname too, but don't recall it. And I wish I could forget it but also "Hollywood" Henderson seemed to stick.

Borderline, if at all:The Freak (Randy Moss)The Playmaker (Irvin)

I always knew "The Freak" as Jevon Kearse.Also...Jake "the Snake" Plummer"Easy" Ed McCaffreyTerrell "TD" Davis"Ironman" Brett FavreAnthony "A-Train" ThomasCarnell "Cadillac" WilliamsJerome "The Bus" BettisTJ "Who's Yo Mamma" HoushmandzadehTerry "She" GlennBrian "Boz" BosworthJust off the top of my head... Hey Lack of Steel Curtain wasn't went as Bengal homerism. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that there was debate as to who was and wasn't part of this defense - that is that you couldn't discern the exact members by the name. Purple People Eaters was excluded for similar reasons. I'd gladly be corrected on either point.-QG
