Football Player nicknames that stick (1 Viewer)

Borderline, if at all:

The Freak (Randy Moss)

The Playmaker (Irvin)
Randy Moss? I always knew "The Freak" as Jevon Kearse.Also...

Jake "the Snake" Plummer

"Easy" Ed McCaffrey

Terrell "TD" Davis

"Ironman" Brett Favre

Anthony "A-Train" Thomas

Carnell "Cadillac" Williams

Jerome "The Bus" Bettis

TJ "Who's Yo Mamma" Houshmandzadeh

Terry "She" Glenn

Brian "The Boz" Bosworth

Just off the top of my head... Oh, and soon to be joined by Adrian "All Day" Peterson.
-Fixed  I think take's on Housh's name don't really go into a set nickname in the same way as other do. Somehow I don't think "Brett Favre" when I hear Ironman w/o any other prompting.

Btw, kudos for Stink

I think Ocho Cinco is going to stand up pretty well - as long as he doesn't switch to another number. It's in Spanish - which separates it from 99% of other American football nicknames.
Best variation was Marvin Lewis referring to this schtick as "Ocho Psycho" -QG

Going back to college, Texas had

Johnny "Lam" Jones

Johnny "Ham" Jones

Johnny "Jam" Jones

All there at the same time, they wore uniform numbers 24,25,26.

The No Name DefenseThe Killer B'sSack Exchange
Didn't see "Steel Curtain" but probably missed it. Also 70s Colts' D was called the "Sack Pack"Also Brodway Joe, and didn't see Ed "Too Tall" Jones. I think Deacon Jones had a nickname too, but don't recall it. And I wish I could forget it but also "Hollywood" Henderson seemed to stick.
Hey Lack of Steel Curtain wasn't went as Bengal homerism. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that there was debate as to who was and wasn't part of this defense - that is that you couldn't discern the exact members by the name. Purple People Eaters was excluded for similar reasons. I'd gladly be corrected on either point.-QG
I could see that as the defenses did have some players come & go, but Steel Curtain & Purple People Eaters have stuck.

Some Browns One's:

RT - Ryan Tucker = "Mother Tucker"

CB - Daylon McCutcheon = "Daylon McCushion"

Yeah I think those are regional. As a Bengals fan, I'll always think of Rod Jones as being Toast - I was actually just about to post it.Leon was the nickname for Corey Dillon late in his Bengals stint.

And you can't have the Rocket without his brother The Missile (Qadry)

Tom Tupa's teammates called him "six-pack" during his QB stint with the Cardinals. Not for his abs or beverage habits, but rather for the 6 INT game he once had.

Sorry Peyton ain't the great one - That's Gretzky and isnt' transferrable across sports.

Anyhow, a couple more:

Hunter the Punter

Automatica

Thunder and Lightning

Papa Bear, though that's not a player

The Duke, that's an owner

I still think we need to popularize Todd Sauerbrun as the Round Mound of 4th Down.
