PermalinkMatt Hasselbeck is probably not playing against Green BayPosted by Frank Hughes @ 01:30:40 pmSeahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck missed his third straight day of practice and afterward Mike Holmgren said Hasselbeck is probably not going to play against the Packers on Sunday. Charlie Frye will start if Hass can't go.Holmgren said his hyperextended knee is just not responding to treatment and they don't want to risk further injury by putting him in there. Seneca Wallace returned to practice on Friday, but his calf injury is not 100 percent recovered, the reason that Frye is getting the start.
Not 100% certain, but it's looking like Frye gets the start against Green Bay. Green Bay +3 is looking like the lock of the century. Get that bet in while you still can.

Green Bay favored now. Good call.

That blows. I was benching Megatron for Engram based solely on the fact that I wanted to avoid a backup QB throwing to my guy. Damn! I may have to start Derrick Ward now.

Both CJ and Engram will likely have backup qbs throwing to them on Sunday.

So, how bad is Frye? Does that make GB D/ST a good start on the road? Seattle has been running the ball well w/o a passing game... as long as they're at home.

gotta play bernard berrian now as my flex option. I guess it's not really _that_ bad but I play in a PPR league and was expecting big things.

Are there any concerns with Hasselbeck for the rest of the season?
Don't think so, ESPN called it a bone bruise.
Haven't heard that one yet. It's always been referred to as slightly hyperextended knee on all the Seahawks sites I've read. I think either way it's still a very temporary injury. And looking at all the fines levied on QB hits I'm very surprised no action has been taken so far on the hit which was, if not late, certainly tardy and definitely low. As for how Frye will do, it's hard to say. He looked very impressive in the last preseason game. Effectively managing a short passing game. That was preseason though when the Seahawks looked like they could compete with anyone in the NFC. He's also been getting a lot of reps in practice this week and previous weeks due to Wallace's calf injury. As one poster on the TNT blog wrote, all he has to do is complete 50% of his passes and one INT and he's doing what Hass was doing. I really don't think it will change expectations for Engram who should be relied on heavily (8-12 recs), or Carlson who should be heavily reintroduced to the gameplan. Dunno about TDs, I think Carlson and JJ (or a Weaver/Duckett vulture) are the guys to look for in that dept. Nothing helps out a backup QB like a sticky handed big TE and Engram will always be lurking for that 7-15 yard pass.

Yeah, Charles Woodson vs. Bobby Engram, I wonder who wins that one.
Depends on what your scoring system is. I doubt CW will be on Bobby much of the game as he will rotate into the slot an awful lot. Bobby's been an extremely successful slot WR (and ppr producer) for many years against better corners than even CW. He finds the dead zones in coverage and sits in there. He's very unlikely to beat CW deep for a TD but I would put my money on Engram to make the catches for 1sts in front of him all day long.

I do expect him to get some catches, but Engram in the slot is exactly where I would expect Woodson to be on him - and they don't play zone, of course.
