Game Thread W1 - San Francisco V Seattle (1 Viewer)

Welcome to the opening week for 2010.

Please try and help those who aren't watching by describing events and developments.

If someone is getting lots of targets, let everyone know

If someone has barely been on the field etc.

Niners run game not looking good so far. SEA LB's playing well and tackling Gore 1-2 yds past line.

-The Niners pass game looks good, lots of completions.

Crabtree update: Just targeted in red zone, didn't catch it though, it was well defended/tipped from behind by SEA defender.

Unbeleivable, Smith just missed a wide open pass to Morris (FB) in the flat just outside the endzone. On 4-1 too, it should have been a touchdown. 85 yard drive=0 pts.

Crabtree just dropped a pass...it was a bit behind him but he did the "Let me look ahead, oh crap I don't have it".....led to an INT...SEA TD on next play. Hasselbeck to Butler

Classic winning formula so far for Seahawks. Stop the run forcing passing situations, then bring the pass rush and force mistakes. Wouldn't be surprised to see 49ers abandon the run and start throwing on first down. Going to be an interesting chess match in the second half.

SEA with their first 1st down of the game on a bad PI....
Not to hipple here but the only reason Branch had a hold of Clements' hand is because Clements grabbed his arm first. Still, would've been better as a no call probly, but Nate initiated contact.

Niners have had the ball 20 minutes in the first half and have only 6 points
Doing what they've been doing since they fired Mariucci....finding a way to lose. Dominate the half statistically and trail by 8.
Gore has 26 yards on 13 carries. I wouldn't call that statistical domination. If Smith can't complete a pass beyond 5 yards I think the 49ers are going to continue to struggle to put points on the board. Yes, the 49ers moved the sticks and ate up clock, but IMO you have to make plays down field in the NFL if you want to light up the score board.Odd thought. I think I remember typing this exact same thing when referring to Alex Smith last year when the 49ers lost in Seattle.

 Clements had a handful of jersey when Branch tried to come out of his break. Did they both have a handful? You bet, but this is certainly a case of "you first".

Seattle had a slow start but the Def is playing lights out right now. Passing game for Seattle is heating up.(I think BMW 35 yard catch was a TD)

Zero running game from Seattle, but I think we all knew that would be an issue.

I agree. Too conservative and have been since Smith has been here. Smith is either horrible and they know it and are waiting to draft a QB next year (to havce him step into a good OL) or the OC is just way too conservative. Too many mistakes and then run plays. They are in the box stopping Gore, grow a pair and throw downfield.

Yep, I thought it was a td also.

Definitely wasn't a TD, knee went down, correct ball placement. What's impressed me most, other than the D-line and Thomas's speed is Hass' determination to bring the O up to the D's level. He had someone wide open in the EZ (Morrah I think) but shouldered it in to pump everyone up.

I thought it was too. I guess it worked out since they still got the score but I was surprised they didn't take another look at it.

I think Hass running it in got the offense pumped up, so it's all good. :lmao:

Smith & Crabtree not on the same book.

Smith won't go downfield. Unbelievable that Seattle is up 15 right now.

Is the defense that good, or is Smith that bad?
The last pick Smith hit the DB in the numbers and the first one was because he launched a rocket from about 6-8 feet away to Crabtree's behind shoulder. From the looks of it they have had many plays were he looks down field and just dumps off everything.

The 49ers had over twice as many yards and dominated the time of posession in the first half. Lots more yards and time of posession equals statistical domination IMO. If you think it is something else, fine. The Bears statistically dominated the Lions, the Lions should have won except for a bad rule or call on a late Detroit TD. Winning the stats doesn't mean you win the game.

I believe the Seattle run defense will continue to be that good, but solid QBs are going to have time to pick the secondary apart if they have a mix of creative play calling.
They won't be if the running game doesn't pick up. Can't be on the field all season and still stay fast.
Yeah doesn't seem like the can run. Not watching, D looking good?
