Game Thread W1 - San Francisco V Seattle (1 Viewer)

One note on week one here, the announcers continue to be the worst announcers in all of sports. Every game I've watched, they've been abysmal. Better off without them.

Is the defense that good, or is Smith that bad?
I believe the Seattle run defense will continue to be that good, but solid QBs are going to have time to pick the secondary apart if they have a mix of creative play calling.
They won't be if the running game doesn't pick up. Can't be on the field all season and still stay fast.
Yeah doesn't seem like the can run. Not watching, D looking good?
Absolutely. But they can't keep it up for 40 minutes/game all season. Even if the O scores quick like they have recently, the D will still run down.

Niners look terrible, especially Alex Smith...Troy Smith could be a good pick up in dynasty

Defense is holding a clinic today. :goodposting:

The fact that they signed Carr and Smith tells me that they don't have a scout, coach or personnel man that has any idea what a good QB looks like.
This reminds me of the press conference where Parcells invoked 1-800-quarterback. They don't exactly grow wild by the side of the road.

Better get Troy in there asap if someone wants to keep their job after this season.
That's how you get fired fast.
:goodposting: The problem with the Niners is that Smith is their best option at QB.

Ha, leave it to the niners.....again, there are going to be people calling for David Carr to be the starter of an NFL team. Unreal.

why would you punt from your opponents 40 down 3 tds after halftime. ridiculous

I am not going completely blame Smith (Crabtree could have had a couple of those INT's), but it is a disappointing start for the Niners. And I am not going to call for David Carr, give Smith 5-6 more games

How bad has Michael Crabtree played today? This was a guy folks were taking off the board as their WR1...just curious how much was Alex Smith and how much was Crabtree's fault.

Wow, grow some balls Singletary. You can't punt there down by 22. You're inside Seattle territory, you go for it. It's your only chance, as small as it was.

The niners have just been overwhelmed. Smith hasn't looked good AND Crabtree had a couple of missed catches. He had one where he looked up field before securing the ball and one that was tipped from behind by the defender. He did have one red zone target. But SF has been so horrible that it is hard to say that Crabtree did not play well. In the first half when SF was moving the ball, they were CLEARLY NOT looking for Crabtree. It was Morgan, Davis and Walker mostly.

The OLine has been abysmal both run and pass blocking, Smith has been inaccurate and rattled for the last 3 quarters, the receivers did nothing with the few opportunities they had to make plays, and the pass defense has been poor...but other than that, the 49ers played well.

Smith was not accurate today. He had very little time to throw and the running game did nothing as the OLine got dominated by Seattle's defensive front. Crabtree and Smith appeared completely out of sync. Crabtree had a bad play when he turned his head prior to securing a slightly off target pass, resulting in a game changing interception. Keep all your 49ers on the bench next week against New Orleans (maybe start Davis since you won't have a better option there) and hope they play better. Absolute trainwreck this week.

Hey, I thought you were a Lions fan. :(The D has looked surprisingly good today. Great vs. the run and a lot of QB pressure.

Can't wait to see what Gregg Williams has in store for young Alex Smith.
They have Philly coming up as well. The David Carr era is upon us in SF.
Are you worried it'll get worse? Smith was done the game that a Seahawk DL (name escapes me right now) crushed his shoulder on a free run at him. Not really sure how he still has a job there since then.
