Garcia hurt this AM (1 Viewer)

IF this is serious, and that's a big if, I see Gruden moving heaven and earth to get Favre. Gives GB a little more leverage in a possible trade. Right now they appear to have none at all.

If I'm the Packers, I offer the Bucs AARON RODGERS for a first round pick. Bring back Favre and let Brohm learn for a year or two (as I think he is better than Rodgers anyway). Everyone wins and Packerland is happy once again.

Stop it now! That makes too much sense

Why would the Bucs want Aaron Rodgers to start for them (without the benefit of minicamp and the first week of training camp to build chemistry) over Brian Griese or Chris Simms? I could see them making a move for Favre, but not Rodgers.

For the love of God, people, Favre doesn't want to play for Tampa Bay (or the Jets, either, for that matter).

Yeah, he wants to play- no, he wants to retire- no, he wants to unretire- no, he wants to stay retired- no, he wants to unretire after all; he wants to return to the Packers- no, he wants to play for the Vikings, no- he just wants to report to camp and be awarded his old starting job, no- he wants to just be able to compete for a starting job with the Packers, no- he just wants his release . . . AND HE MEANS IT THIS TIME, PEOPLE!!!!1

Another Favre thread disguised as a Garcia thread!

Thank God I am a Packer fan so I enjoy each and every one of these threads.

Any update on if this is even any sort of serious injury?

Jim Flynn of the Pewter Report is reporting it as a calf strain.

Here is a cut and paste from their site:

PewterReport.com is reporting that the following players were limited or held out of practice on Thursday morning with injuries:

QB Jeff Garcia (calf strain)

C Jeff Faine (back)

DT Jovan Haye (groin)

FB B.J. Askew (bruised foot)

WR Chad Lucas (strained hamstring)

S Sabby Piscitelli (knee)

Each player is listed as day-to-day on the injury report.

PewterReport.com will have more from this morning's practice throughout the day.

Depending on the outcome how does this change the Favre story if any?

"Garcia went down"Too many things to say about that
Considering the tail he's pulled and married, I doubt it conforms to the homoerotic fantasies that you're clinging to.
I know he's married and has a hot wife but I think she just likes the clothes he picks out for her.Garcia just ain't right, sorry.

Great. I traded for him six weeks ago and was already dreading this whole Favre thing. :X
Is Jeff Garcia going down really gonna end your fantasy season? This guy has to be your QB3, right?

Sad to say, my dynasty depth chart without him is Bulger, Kolb, Carr, Seneca Wallace, [cast of thousands]. :XI've got strengths elsewhere, but that's definitely a weakness. :coffee:

Bulger should be fine....Don't sweat it...

I totally laughed out loud at this. Thanks! I imagine T.O. would have liked it too... :goodposting:
Thank you. I was waiting for a good line from the "fanatic" on this one as well.

I'm not so sure. Pace isn't back yet, and we saw last year what that means for the line and frankly for the whole offense. And, they're installing a new offense with Saunders anyway, and as I know from my 'Skins homerism Saunders himself usually says that it takes a full year in his system before everyone really "gets it". :goodposting:

I'm really surprised this scenario hasn't been mentioned more.

It might be one thing if a team that was high on Rodgers acquired him in February, in time for him to participate in all of their offseason camps and prepare for the season the way that Schaub did with Houston last year, but we're just about in August. I don't see Rodgers being a hot commodity right now.

Is that sarcasm? Because everyone has been saying that.It won't happen because TT is enamored with Rodgers and doesn't want his first 1st round draft pick in GB to be traded away. Plus, I like Rodgers more than Brohm. Brohm is just a big arm, that's all. You can't just assume Brohm becomes a good QB. Can't assume that from Rodgers either, but from what we've seen thus far (3/4 of the DAL game and training camp), Rodgers is the real deal. In an age where it's really tough to find a QB (look at CHI, BAL, NYJ, etc), when you find one that's startable and has pro-bowl potential, you don't trade him in favor of an unknownThat scenario makes the most sense, but it won't happen. Could have happened back on draft day, or in April, but not anymore.

First, Pace is back. Ben practicing since the 2nd or 3rd day of camp. He's been schooling Chris Long on a regular basisSecond, Saunder's O is a version of Air Martz. Bulger is very familar with that scheme. You'll be fine...

I agree I think Bulger will be fine this year. But if it were my squad, I wouldn't be satisfied with Kolb as my QB2 either

It's just a calf strain, so i doubt it is too serious. I am more concerned with the fact he is 38, and injured last season. This could be the beginning of a trend.

Sorry, by "back" I mean 100%. He's not even though he's practicing and working out. As long as Bulger remains healthy, I agree that I'm fine, but Bulger's not shown he can for 16 games and with his best o-lineman still recovering from a major injury I have concerns.

Anyway, back (more or less) to the subject at hand, I grabbed Garcia before Favre's return was a certainty and definitely before there were any rumors about Tampa acquiring him, so I won't be a happy camper if he ends up in Tampa.

:blackdot: And besides - Gruden and young QBs just don't get along. And for all his bench experience, Rodgers is still a young QB.

Me neither. I have him as my QB2/3 behind Romo. I hope I don't have to start him at all this season but I may have to...

I didn't realize he was 38. Who is the backup?
Griese and Simms; they also drafted Josh Johnson, but he's very developmental (he was from a DIII school) and several years away from being viable.

Right now if Garcia was unable to play Luke McCown would be the odds on favorite to start. He's getting most of the #2 reps in practice. After that it's Griese and Johnson. Simms is only there for another training camp arm until they can work out a trade with Dallas. Hopefully.

I forgot about McCown. :bag: I agree regarding Simms - he's unhappy sitting on the bench, Gruden's unhappy with his development, and they want to move him.

Simms is as good as gone.

From what I have been reading about camp McCown & Griese have both had their moments. The #2 QB job is probably one of the biggest battles in camp. Josh Johnson is a project.

Probably shouldn't post this link. It is only work safe if people have their Google preferences set to filter explicit images.

From Rotoworld:

The early prognosis on Jeff Garcia's calf strain is that it is not serious.

He may miss a few practices after being carted away Thursday, but a closer exam revealed no real damage. Luke McCown will run the ones in his place.
