General Malaise "vs." reading comprehension ; also some talk of skyim and the elder scrolls (1 Viewer)

I killed Farengar. Damn it. Didn't know he would die. Then Proventus, only he did that stunned cower thing where all his health is gone but he can't be killed. Then he stood up, said hello, and I told him I cleared out silent moon camp, so he paid me. I'm done for a while, gonna try and figure this out.
Beat them until they leave you alone? nice work

What did everyone name their character?I named mine "Drago".
My little Wood Elf girl is Meela.
James (high elf)Seems kind of stupid now.
Bunk
Bunker (my dog) :shrug:figured it would help the wife appreciate the game more. You know, now that it has replaced virtually everything else for me outside of work.
:lmao:
Probably going to start a Thief Khajit and call him "Cheshire"My Nord Warrior's name is Daniel.

I'm totally ####ed. This sucks so much. There's absolutely nothing I can do now because every load point is just people in whiterun trying to kill me....any ideas?
 no idea, this usually happens when I put the controller on the couch without hitting start and I accidentally send Unrelenting Force through the 15 guards standing in front of me.

Got into my first brawl with my Khajit guy last night.

Big Gay Orc is named "Grok Al-Loc," though Big Gay Orc is way better. Also, I finally got Lydia killed last night in Meridia's Beacon. It was a good run. The boss at the end is a necromaster surrounded by 8 wraith-like creatures. My strategy was to rush right in, Ice Form the necromaster, then wail on his head until he dies, hopefully taking the spirits with him. Well, I killed him. Then I sat back and cracked a beer before turning around to see....the 8 spirits still alive, surrounding Lydia. It was a brave fight. She was decked out in a full set of ebony armor with a daedric shield and a special ebony sword I made with lightening damage. She managed to drop 5 of the bastards before she fell. I was too loaded down to salvage her armor and weapons. So I went home to drop off some stuff, then came back. When I did, the door to that particular chamber WAS LOCKED. I was mighty tempted to reload and refight the necromaster. But no. Playing out unfortunate events is what makes this game great. So Lydia got herself a fine entombment in a Daedric temple, adorned in ebony armor with her sword at her side.I now have some lout running around with me that I hired from an inn in Windhelm. It just isn't the same. :(

Oh the horrors Lydia has seen, with BGO and his partner... NTTAWWT

Anyone got a beat on a cool companion?

I've gone through the wood elf from Riverrun and Lydia. The guy I have now is so generic it hurts.

There are some good companions in the Companion's Guild in WhiterunFarkas is who I use (he trains in Heavy Armor)... I had a guy from that same guild that specialized in 2H Weapons but he was KIA...On a seperate note I married the one hot archer chick in there as well

I have some chick with me whom I had beaten up earlier in the game in a bar. Forget her name. Also have meeko the dog, but after he bravely fought alongside me for many battles, I retired him. He now sits in my house by the fire, barking everytime I walk in the door.

Does this spell "clairvoiance" really work well enough to buy? I can see how it would be useful.
Yes, it's been very helpful finding the way when you are heading somewhere way off path in the mountains. Usually I find them on my own easily but the routes I take typically leave my follower stuck way behind me. Using this helps so I don't lose whatever follower I have.

I am partial to Mjoll the Lioness after you remove Arien from the picture. She's chatty but doesn't get in the way of my sniping often, is tough as hell and with her Dragon Plate armor can take a helluva lot of damage. I couldn't take Lydia's snarkiness anymore and even moved out of Whiterun because she would just sit in my bedroom :hot:

Just traded in Mjoll for Jordis. Not sure there is much difference.

:hifive: for the tip that companions don't have a weight limit if you have them clean out a chest. Mjoll carried about 600# of stuff to Solitude for me in one trip.

As said, use a light touch and let it go when it fails/stops. If it doesn't move at all you are not near the sweet spot. The harder the lock level the closer to the sweet spot you need to be to get any movement. On easier locks check in fifths - noon, 1:30, 3:00, 9:00, 10:30 - and refine from there depending on sucess. As the lock gets harder, fifths becomes 10ths or even 15ths.

Don't forget the noon check. A surprising number of locks open at noon.

Example - you test at noon - no movement at all, lockpick either snaps or started to shake and your touch was light enough to stop before it broke. You move to 1:30 and it moves a little bit before stopping or snapping. You move it a bit towards 3:00 and it moves less or snaps quicker and move from 1:30 towards noon and it goes most of the way. You move a bit closer to noon and and wa la...

I am finally out of the Dragon's Reach nightmare. After repeatedly bashing all the non-killables I was able to get Lydia to follow me outside. Then a guard arrested me. My bounty was over 9000 so I went to jail. Now everything is back to normal. Yay!

Question: If Heavy Dragon Armor has a lesser armor rating than Daedric Heavy Armor, what's the point?

Unless you want to look like a Hannibal Lector freak wearing a skeleton, then I get it. But other than that....

Am I missing something?

I've got some guy I hired at the thieves guild town. He doesn't have much personality, but he kicks much ### with his lightning. He and I have no problem taking down multiple giants.

I no longer use a companion. As a stealth character, all they do is hinder me. While I used them initially to haul loot, once I got my stamina up enough, there was no need. I enchant daggers to sell and have more cash than I need, so I only keep/carry things I went to disenchant or use to decorate the crib (masks and whatnot). So now, with my stealth rating, I can go in to a room, clear it out, and the enemies don't even see me grabbing everything. They just stand there oblivious until I decide to run a dagger across their throat.

I just realized via wiki there's 8 dragon masks. For most of the game I only had one of them (Morokei) and I just found Volsung last night. More stuff to do before I finish the main story line. :nerd:

I've done 8 of the 16 main quests, just completed the Mage College stuff, am close on the thieves guild, stopped the companions where I had to choose, and haven't even touched the dark brotherhood. At this point, I have three. I carry Morokei for when I need to pick locks. The other two adorn the table at the top of the stairs in my house in Whiterun. Volsung is one of them. I forget the other. Seems by the time you are strong enough to get them, they aren't that useful.

There's one that you only have one chance to get. If you are past that point, there's -0- chance of getting it. I found that out looking for them with my previous character....found out too late.

I havent done much underwater exploring yet so I'm happy to get Volsung.
I won't find them all. Just like I won't find all 24 jewels. For me, if I have to go to the wiki to find where things are and chase stuff down "just because," it doesn't interest me. But I like coming across unique items like the mask in the course of the game. Always kind of exciting to find something like that.

Which one? I don't want to check the Wiki for the ones I'm missing to ruin it but don't want to screw the pooch on missing one of the last ones I'm looking for, either.
mask name - NahkriinEastmarch during The World-Eater's Eyrie...since you cna only get there by dragon...- Note: As of right now, since Skuldafn is only accessible during the Main Quest, if you choose to skip past Nahkriin and jump into the portal, you will not be able to get back to him.

If your SO "accidentally" dies, are you free to get married again?

I think Big Gay Orc was just going through a phase.
:lmao: You are just re-entering grad school, aren't you
You lost me, guy.
I kinda lost myself. There was something involving undergrad experimentation/phases and respectability transitioning to grad school that clicked at some point but it's muddy. I've been drinking. Pay no mind.
:lmao: Ok then.

Only advantage to it is the weight. Daedric chestplate gives you 49 armor rating for 50 weight. Dragonplate is 46 armor rating, but the weight is only 40. 3 less armor for 10 less weight. The helmet is an even bigger gap... Daedric helmet is 23 armor for 15 weight, dragonplate is 22 armor for 8 weight. Half the weight, only one less point of AR. Gauntlets are weird, the Daedric is both lighter and better armor.Of course if you're using Steed Stone or a perk to make worn heavy armor weightless, weight doesn't matter and you can just stick with Daedric.

Enedfalas... put my name in an elf name conversion thing I found online and that's what popped out. :nerd:

Honest answer? For me, it's that rare occasion when I got fully in to the whole "role playing" aspect of the game. That being, I found out I'm this Drgaonborn thing. I have the power of Dragon Voice. So how could I wear anything BUT Dragon armor? It just seems "right" that it is what I should wear.

I need to find the Steed Stone. Never found it with any of my characters.

Correction: decapitations do happen with a hammer.

The animation usually divides the killing blow into two hits. The first hit is a weak swing to the gut. This staggers the opponent and makes him bend over. Then you raise your hammer over your head and drop it like an executioner's ax and take his head clean off.

:gore:

Anyone else just say "EFFE IT" to those annoying treasure maps? I found like one treasure. The rest are just a pain in the butt to read.

You know, I really love M'iaq the Liar. He serves no real purpose except to give backhanded advice, but the guy cracks me up for some reason.

Anyone ever a get a quest or find an item related to him?

Poor Lydia walked right into that Dragons mouth last night. Too bad, not like i was getting tired of her sarcastic greeting..."i am sworn to carry your burden"

She has already been replaced by Benor...lets hope he can respect his leader.

Earlier I commented about finding a stray dog and then he disappeared when I left Breezehome? Well since he was following me when he disappeared I can't buy a dog. Every time I tried to buy one I was told that I already had an animal follower. :hot:
