Man this Labyrinthine dungeon crawl is friggin' way long. Seems like I have been in it for days.
Have you found Black Reach yet? That sucked.
:goodposting:
No I haven't been there but I googled it. 4 sq miles? At the rate I go that could take me a week.
I went back and did the Crimson Nirnroot search, ugh....never again.
I went back and got like 6 of them. Said f this and bailed. Would never go back there.
yikes. I have not made it here yet. Are there any trophy's/achievements related to this place you all hate?
I don't know why everyone hated that place. I thought it was fun seeing a unique area. Found the 20 crimson roots easily just by exploring.
cool! I am actually kind of geeked that I still have such a huge single region to explore after 80 hours already into the game on top of all the other normal smaller places to explore. Are the crimson ninroots similar to the normal ninroots in that they have a ringing sound and are found on the edge of water or are they completely different plants?

I still haven't been there either, and even at lvl 48 there's so much I haven't done. It's just amazing how much there is to do in this game

I grabbed the Scimitar at like level 5 or so and still have it now at level 27. I have it smithed up now and fire damage attached and it's better then the highest stuff I have unlocked which is the Orch stuff. You can get one by finding the Reguard women in Whiterun.

They're pretty much the same... they glow too but since it's a cave full of moist air I don't recall them all being right next to standing water (although quite a few are). Ringing sound, well I would imagine yes but can't be sure since I was jamming out while playing that area.

its prob the one place you can mine for soul gems too, bring a pickaxe i think the reason why I disliked it was because it's such a maze to finally get to that area, but after going back a 2nd time, I left my marker by one of the direct access points

I still haven't been there either, and even at lvl 48 there's so much I haven't done. It's just amazing how much there is to do in this game
It really is amazing. Before my PS3 died, I had 70 hours in and finished the main quest and college quests only. My new character has about 20 or so hours in and only thing I did again was college. This time I have done some dungeon diving and Thieves guild which should be done tonightI have never touched Dark Brotherhood or anything past getting the sword for Companions

finally pulled the trigger on a new character last night and its just as much fun as the first run through. Heck, right off the bat in Helgen was brand new for me. The first time around i had no clue what i was doing and never even followed Hadvar into the keep.Just having fun now learning to use magic and one handed...just a totally different game vs my old two handed archer

I haven't touched the Mage Guild, Dark Brotherhood, Bard Guild, Companions, Civil War, and almost none of the Main Quest. I also haven't found any Dragon Priest masks, don't have a lot of shouts, and none of the Daedric weapons. All of my time has been spent wandering around, doing the Thieves Guild quest, working on buying all the houses, and miscellaneous quests. All of which I want to accomplish, so I'll be starting new characters and swapping out my sneaky assassin for a mage, then a tank, etc. This game rocks for me.

I recently started playing this game. Are there any really good 1-handed weapons I can find relatively early on (i.e. something I can get without having to beat a monster/boss that a character in the teens-level has no chance to beat)?
Are you willing to chop firewood for a few hours? On a level adjusted basis early on you can find some decent enchanted stuff around. I've actually had good luck finding stuff at warmaidens to dis-enchant that I haven't found anywhere on the MQ.

Nightengale Blade is one of my favs, and easy to obtain through doing the Thieves Guild questline, you probably only have to take on human NPCs during those quests, most is sneaking and theft

I have never chopped firewood in the game. What does it do as far as getting me a weapon I can use for a while?

tried it last night and just couldnt do it. was all  after like 4 sets. definitely easy money though for when you're at a low level.

This is by far the biggest game I have ever played. I am 80 hours in and still feel like I have just scratched the surface.

Only complaint I have is that by the 60 hour mark I feel like I have maxed out my weapon and armor. With a game this long it would be nice to continue to improve outside of perks.

I am always broke in the game because I spend my money on training, so I am willing to give it a try. How do you go about chopping firewood and selling it? I haven't come across anyone asking for it.

Starting to get bored. I'm slogging through Dark Brotherhood prior to finishing the main quest. DB quests aren't really stealth oriented. They can be, but would be just as doable with a non-stealth character, at least to this point.

Last dungeon, I'm so bored with sneaking and sniping that I cleared it just fireballing the ####e out of everything. Wasn't too much of a challenge despite having to drink a few more potions that I would have as a sneak sniper (where I wouldn't have drunk any)

It is a huge grind because it pays very little. Here is the infohttp://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Chopping_Wood

Also have a question about dragon bones and scales. Can I have a smith create the armor for me or do I have to do it myself? When I went to one of them with the a bone and a scale in my inventory it didn't give me an opportunity to ask so I am guessing I will have to make the armor myself when I have the skill level.

Correct. You have to make it yourself. Just store the bones and scales away until your smithing reaches 100, and take the perks needed to get to make dragon armor.

Thanks! It doesn't look like the woodcutting thing is worth the time and I stored the bones and scales. It's going to be a while until I can make that armor myself.

One note. The bones and scales are valuable and sell nicely. If you want Dragon Plate Armor ( Heavy Armor ), save the bones and sell the scalesIf you want Dragon Scale Armor ( Light Armor ), save the scales and sell the bones

Well I am the newly minted Arch Mage. Labrythian took forever. The battle at the College was kind of anti-climatic after all the mini-bosses and all that.

The Thalmor are just not at all friendly. Minding my own business on the way to get the pommel for the Razor and I run into 3 Thalmor in the middle of nowhere. They attack. Once they were all dead I find that apparently the Thalmor have placed a bounty on my head calling for my death "with much hatred". So it will be a hate crime if they are successful. Why an Elf got to keep a Redguard down? Can't we all just get along?

At least the note said I was very dangerous so it wasn't all bad. I am assuming this is from taking out Arcano(dude was a complete doosh he had it coming anyway) and giving the Eye to Psygicc Order. Some folks have no sense of humor.

Thalmor are a bunch of crybabies.

What is Speedcraft? I have a +15 amulet but I have no clue what it's used for.
Useful in persuasion, intimidation, buying and selling as well.
I have that and a necklace of haggling which is supposed to help get better prices. Which would be better to use?
Why not put one on and see what the merchant offers, then put the other on and see?
Was getting my poop on....will try later :-)

Finally got the whole freeze shout. Turning something into a block of ice is fun.
I just got the first word yesterday and I didn't have any success using it on a Giant or a Mammoth.
Yeah first word is pretty weak, second word is a little better on weaker enemies and third word is all the difference. Froze several demora solid as a block in one go.

OK...never had a chance to try...anyone know?

So, I just completed the Dark Brotherhood quests... Is it a part of the quest line that when I head to solitude for the... final piece of the quest line, that my follower/shadowmere disappear? I reloaded to a save point just prior to this where both were with me, and when I arrived they were gone, so I know they haven't been killed. Where do I find Shadowmere after this, or is he gone forever? I'd imagine I can pick marcurio up back in riften again (I haven't checked yet), but I'm more concerned about shadowmere.

Question on which is the better bow:

1) Glass Bow at Legendary: Damage = 72, Fire Damage = 12

2) Nightingale Bow at Flawless: Damage = 67, Shock Damage = 12, Frost Damage = 25

I feel like #2 should be a better bow but the games menu tags the Glass Bow as the better weapon.

Am I making the mistake of adding all the damage points up for each weapon to determine which one is better?

I don't think the game takes into account the enchantment damage, just base damage.

I think the frost damage also puts some level of slow on the target, which, as an archer, is more valuable to me than the extra damage that the fire bow would provide.

I'm not even sure its just that. I recently had 2 bows with identical base damage, both had frost enchantments and the game was telling me that the one with 16 points of frost damage (elven, flawless) was a better option than the other which did 20 points of frost damage (Finriel's end, smithed up a bit).

not exactly sure about your situation, but some of the guild questlines require you go at it alone, they will pop back up during your next fast travel/load. Shadowmere will always pop up outside of cities even if you don't ride him, unless you take on another horse (exp: Frost)

how does the game tell you this? i never noticed how to see preferred weapons. as far as enchantments go, does 25 shock damage actually take 25 health damage? if not, does anyone know how much health damage that equates to? from what i noticed fire does way more damage than the rest.

Go into the weapons menu. You will see a small icon (triangle) to the right of each of the preferred weapons and armor. For example in this picture, look at the Elven Armor.http://skyrim.dk/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Skyrim-inventory.jpg

I think frost does damage to "health and stamina" no idea how it splits those two up.

pretty sure it's haggling. pricing and persuasion are separate sides of the speech skill tree
