No, I had the interview yesterday and I think it went really well but it's now wait and see if I get a call for the final interview.

I have a "virtual interview" tomorrow with Traeger and another company reached out to me and asked me to interview for a position, so I think we're coming to the time where it's been a couple weeks of me putting things out there and starting to get some results. I really want the brewery one though. 🤞
The grill people?

Round 242.xx

It was a robin's egg and it was blue
It was a robin's egg and it was blue
It was crushed to bits, and you saw it, too

I'm a little scared to click the link due to the word "Dave" being followed by the word "Matthews," but I love the title's connection to spring.
I’m not a big Dave Matthews fan at all (Although in some ways he should be in my wheelhouse) but I do like this acoustic live album he did with Tim Reynolds.

Glenn Miller was my entry point into the world of Swing and Jazz Instrumental music as a teen, well it's not really considered Jazz on any level, as it really falls under the Big Band Swing era, but it was my entry to that instrumental Brass world as the roots of Jazz germinated there for me and led me to discover some of the all time great Jazz records over the next decade.  My Jazz exploration continues to this day as I have flipped over to my Vinyl obsession and now have well over 500 Jazz records and love discovering new sounds, styles and artists.  I played this one a lot 40 years ago when it was released in 1983 and actually grabbed a copy on vinyl this past year.  I think of my Mom when I play it and I always have warm memories of her and that time.

https://www.discogs.com/The-Glenn-Miller-Orchestra-In-The-Digital-Mood/release/4259018

Choosing a track from his original records in 1939 though, not from the re-recordings above.

Pick 242 - 1900-1949 - In the Mood - Glenn Miller

Glenn Miller
Real Name:
Alton Glenn Miller
Profile:
American swing trombonist, arranger, composer, and bandleader. Born 1 March 1904 in Clarinda, Iowa. Started orchestra in 1938. Best-selling recording artist from 1939 to 1943, leading best known and beloved swing band. Worked as sideman early in career. Wrote and/or arranged popular swing songs. Disbanded orchestra in 1942 to leave for Army. Too old to be drafted, created a band. Transferred to Army Air Force and raised morale for hundreds of thousands of troops before mysteriously disappearing never to be seen again. Mourned internationally as war hero. Last seen 15 December 1944.

Round 243:

I Heart Prog

The Divided Sky -- Phish

In their early years they were heavily influenced by Frank Zappa and '80s King Crimson. You can hear some of that on this track from their first album.

At around 1:15, a passage is played, and then followed by the exact same passage backwards.

Well, RW also said he is going Prog x2, and his might get a little metal-y, but not sure.  There is one band that I am not a huge fan of that I think "needs" to be on a prog list so if he or somebody else doesn't take something I will probably bonus it up tonight.   In the meantime, let's get in some more 70s proggy goodness

I HEART PROG

You save about an hour by cutting out bass solos?

All About That Bass (Awesome Bass parts) -- 32 songs, 2 hours and 32 minutes

The Noble Eightfold Path (Classic Punk before Nirvana) -- 32 songs, 1 hour and 34 minutes

Around 2004 I stopped seeing a girl in college partly because she told me had seen DMB in concert a dozen times. I wasn’t going to get dragged into that lifestyle.
I’ve only seen the DMB once and it was only because Santana was opening. DMB was pretty boring except for when Carlos came out and joined them and smoked “All Along The Watchtower“.

:wall:

We might be double dipping here.  I really wasn't expecting this, and put it off until tonight.

Another of my favorite bands.  Been wanting to take them for a couple more categories - especially the drumming channel.
Sorry. I like them alot too and have almost drafted them a few times.

I never got the appeal. I remember she would start playing his CDs and I went into f— or flight mode. She was either going to crash into me or I was getting out of there real quick. Not sure why I even briefly dated her...oh wait yeah I do.

243.k4  Ringo Starr - Beaucoups of Blues  (Willie's Roadhouse)

This is what I wrote about the album in my solo Beatles countdown:

"I’ve mentioned a few times how much Ringo loves country music; you could see this even from his song choices in the Beatles catalog.  And I’ve also mentioned how well-suited his voice is to country, where a flat vocal can work better.  His second studio album, Beaucoups of Blues, was the realization of a longtime dream to record a country & western record.  It began when Ringo was helping George on All Things Must Pass; Ringo sent his car to pick up steel guitarist Pete Drake from the airport, and Drake noticed Ringo’s large selection of C&W tapes.  Drake invited Ringo to Nashville, promising that he could have his friends write a whole album of songs and record them with Ringo within a week.

In Nashville, Drake assembled a cast of dozens, including Nashville’s top session musicians and big names such as Charlie Daniels, Jerry Reed, Charlie McCoy, and the Jordanaires.  There were so many local performers working on this record that, as one of them described it:  “The sessions went until at least 1 a.m, but it was 2 or 3 in the morning before we got out of there. It took that long just to say goodnight to everybody.”  Many of the participants were initially skeptical of what it would be like to work with a Beatle, thinking Ringo was going to be a jerk.  They obviously didn’t know Ringo!  Instead, it was a two-day session that everyone involved described as pure joy due to Ringo’s charm and professionalism.  By the way, that is not a typo – they completed it all in a marathon two-day session, recording five songs in the morning and five at night each day.

Beaucoups Of Blues was fairly well received by critics and the public upon release, but it has grown in its influence over the years, now being acknowledged by some as helping to introduce country to rock ‘n’ roll and serve as a precursor to alt-country.  Charlie Daniels has called it an “important record that helped legitimize country in the rock world.”  I think it’s a great little record, with Ringo enjoying himself even more than he always does.  Ringo didn’t play drums on any of these songs, except for the late-night jam sessions, one of which made it onto the bonus tracks as “Nashville Jam.”  "

Rd 244: Black, Brown and White by Big Bill Broonzy

For obvious reasons no major recording studio would touch this song for a long time. The lyrics were first printed in '46 but he was performing it before this. Not sure when this was printed but it's a clear protest against the treatment of Black veterans and the racism that came with varying color gradients in this country.

I went to an employment office
Got a number 'n' I got in line
They called everybody's number
But they never did call mine

They said if you was white, should be all right
If you was brown, could stick around
But as you black, m-mm brother, git back git back git back
