Genrepalooza Presents: FG Radio - Tons of Lithium but very little Chill (2 Viewers)

Wait, I was just going to ask...is this obvious monster riffs, solos, or are these under the radar riffs and/or dual leads? It's not the anti-Clapton one, is it? No matter, actually, because...

Ah, well, I had a ton lined up and then this just screamed out of the sky today while looking at said monster riffs, getting a kick out of it, and Googling the best ones ever. The ones I would have picked were all mentioned, and above this, but this one...whoa. So now that guitar riffs and solos and dual leads come into play, I'm going with

Round 247.xx

I wonder how many babies are on earth, either incidentally or directly, because of some of these riffs, solos, and leads here. There's definitely a pyrotechnical display of what some might call auditory excellence, and what others might call auditory flatulence. But they're pyrotechnics all the same, begging for some sort of recognition in the sonic cloud, whatever form that recognition may take. Riffs are so distilled, solos so sprawling. What are we all looking for here in our guitar heros and heroines?

I'll be your mirror...

Free association posting since 2012. Carry on.

I had the exact same problem.  This makes things simpler.  I'll go with:

247.8 or 12 - MUNA - Number One Fan  (Synth Smorg)

A bit of Sunday Synth Pop positivity* from my newly vaccinated daughter.

* although you wouldn't know it from its opening line

Nobody likes me and I'm gonna die alone/ In my bedroom/ Looking at strangers on my telephone

I think I chose this song off of The Carnival for one of the two representative songs in the Desert Island draft we did a while back when COVID had just started. I love this track. I think Pras is on the track also.
Best songs on that album are the ones in French imo.

This is not the anti-Clapton one. This is outstanding guitar performances -- leads, riffs, whatever. Like Sweet Child O'Mine.

It's Joan Osborne, and I considered taking another song because I want Robin Zander here, but I also thought this one sounded "power poppiest" of the covers.

Yeah, I wouldn't have thought it would be power poppy, but then it made sense with the big horns and all of that and it certainly was a driving pop/rock song.

Round 247

Guitar Hero

A bunch of songs I would've used for this category have been taken.Checked a bunch of playlists and surprisingly didn't see this anywhere. One of the great classic rock solos and also scores the 2x bonus.

The Eagles- Hotel California

GUITAR HERO

248.YM - Nutshell - Alice in Chains

Guitar work and solos don’t all have to be shred-fests to create a major vibe. This song is probably my favorite from AiC and the guitar is as important to the mood it creates as Staley’s vocals.

About a month into the draft, I noticed an error in the channels spreadsheet that meant some categories had a slightly better chance of getting rolled. I fixed it then but it meant that there was a large blank space in the 970-1000 range.

We were still working with the original channels at the time so it didn't make any difference but now that we've gone crazy, I might as well squeeze another channel for the 970-986 range.

There are a ridiculous number of entrants in the Dayton bubble today so one lucky contender will get a pass straight through to take the new channel slot.
