As first glance this is a much stronger round, for my taste, than 31.
Totally whiffed on Sweet - made me smile seeing them selected. Ballroom Blitz is a fun song.
COULD ONE OF YOU OR ROCKACTION PLEASE CHANGE YOUR AVATAR. THANKS. MANAGEMENT.
(I'm just kidding here.)
Agreed - beyond my contribution the only others already on my shuffle were Personal Jesus and God Put A Smile On Your Face. Been a fun spin this morning with a lot of new sounds and not many skips, but more familiarity this afternoon will probably be refreshing. As first glance this is a much stronger round, for my taste, than 31.
I need to listen to Mott, by Mott The Hoople. Easily my favorite new one of the ones I hadn't heard before, and I liked generally everything I've heard from their glam era, a style of music I particularly like for some reason. I've heard singles, but never the proper album.
Also this will likely be Jack Palance's only appearance in the Countdown.
Eric Clapton on guitar - will he make another appearance on my list?
If you drop some George Michael on me tomorrow.....KP's never gonna see this curve ball comingAnd we have three (3) artists get knocked out of the tiebreaker Ace Award guesses.

Can’t not think of this ‘90s Howard Stern bit when I see/hear this tune.

No volleyballs....I have never watched The Sopranos. Or The Wire.
Agreed. I think I mentioned it pre draft, but the 8 songs he finished his set with at this summer's show was the best stretch of music I've experienced live. This song was the peak. It's always been one of my favorite Elton tracks, but...that completely altered how I view this song. I just wonder what it'd have been like had I heard it several decades ago...As you'll see later, I too like Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me.
However, I prefer the solo version to the duet. I appreciate George Michael's voice, really I do, but when Sir Elton kicks in it just shows how much more suited his voice is to that particular song than Michael's is.![]()
Lots of stuff I love here. Wish it was the original Don't let the sun go down with just Elton (only because multiple artists give me headaches with the spreadsheet summaries) Oh well, was going to happen at some point. George Michael. Gone too soon. :(Don Quixote:

Also, guilty - I didn't pay attention to the others in our vicinity, but all 6 of us had the waterworks flowing.
Of all the Elton in the world, I picked this one. If you told me I would do this last summer, I'd have said no way. Then I saw the farewell tour. It's the last song. He says goodbye with it. I've seen a little emotion at shows through the years but nothing like this. 9 out of ten people near me moved to tears. I may have shed one with them. Touching. Farewell Captain Fantastic.

If you skip the first song on each, they come in under 2 hours. It appears that each playlist will be around 3.5 to 4 hours.
Given the volume my participation will be directly correlated with work demands, which is why I was able to get through most of yesterday's list this morning. Hitting pause on #38 The Hitchers (nice one!), but am not sure if I'll be hitting play again today. It appears that each playlist will be around 3.5 to 4 hours. Either I'll be getting a divorce or will be hippling the **** out of the thread.
Love this. Jones' work on the keys just hits the right spot of melancholy without being mopey. Also a nostalgic one for high-school me, pining over an out-of-my-league crush.
I dunno. It's just the best of the cheesy mid-80s to me. Somehow it sounds like the mid-80s yet also fresh to me. Bonus points for 80s hairstyles in video. 40 years later I'm not tired of this song.
I have not. HBO Max comes with our cell phone plan so maybe I can rectify that at some point. You never watched the Sopranos? This is the theme song.Woke Up This Morning (Chosen One Mix) -- Alabama 3 (Val Rannous). Captivating blend of funk, electronica and other genres.
Titus promised songs, I've never heard and he's 2-2 now. Liked this one a lot as well and added to me "new" playlist. At times the vocals reminded me of Kurt Cobain but in a more "power pop:" setting.
Brits love their baseball, too. Or maybe just American fat guys.I'm pretty sure Babe Ruth was American.

Lots to love in this round -- above are the high points for me.
landrys hat might have picked the Ace with Modern English. Didn't even think of that one when filling in the contest entries.
Same for me also. Knowing someone would take "I Melt With You," I took the B Movie song at #31, just to get one of those songs in.my initial list is filled with a lot of stuff like this from that time - a lot of really good 1 to 3 hit wonders that filled the MTV airwaves 24/7.
That can't ruin it for me LOL. At the end of "Valley Girl, " there is a music scene where they are dancing to this song. Those dancing are SAE's and Alpha Phi's from Long Beach St. I must have had to work that night. Don't know how I missed it. Cracks me up every tine I watch that scene and two real good friends are basically starring into the camera the entire scene. Pissed that I can not find a YT clip of this.Taco Bell ruined this song for me a bit.landrys hat might have picked the Ace with Modern English. I'm not a huge Bush fan. Gavin Rossdale is kind of a ****. But this one I always liked for that alternating creepy, and then heavy riff.....what I can I say, I'm sucker for a crunchy riff. They didn't age well with me, but I'm glad to see this made someone's cut. By far my favorite of their's. That guitar is creepy, haunting, and entrancing any time it connects on the shuffle.
