Yeah, I can agree with this. My excuse is that I didn't grow up watching football - it was all baseball and college basketball in my family and where I grew up. We were equidistant to Indianapolis and Cincy, but neither was a big deal where I was.

I kept my baseball (Reds, god help me) and basketball (Indiana Hoosiers), and adopted a hockey team when I moved to Chicago and saw my first non-Olympic hockey ever (though actually the first I ever saw in person was a Canucks/Rangers Stanley Cup final on a work trip to NY!). At that point I also adopted the Bears as my real NFL team, and I just have rotating AFC ones as backups to root for when the Bears are bad, which is nearly always.

I grew up in NJ and rooting for the NJ/NY teams (Yankees, Giants, Devils, Nets), but I’ve now been in the DC area for half my life and slowly migrated over to the DC teams (well, except I have not fully adopted the Commanders because eff Dan Snyder).

Despite spending 90% of my life in Southern California, I am a Cowboys fan. Dad was a bit zealous about them. They lose, he'd get drunk and make me pull weeds, trim the grass around the sprinklers, rake leaves, take out the trash, clean my room. They win, he'd get drunk and grill steaks, play music, dance with mom. I woke up Sunday mornings praying for Dallas to win. I am a Laker and Dodger fan though. I even pull for the Clippers, Angels and Chargers for above reasons. Just makes it more fun to be here when a team is doing great.

You should see the Kraken if you ever visit. The stadium is fantastic. Got tix for their first game against the Blackhawks (the only sports team I truly and dearly care about) in their inaugural season and had a blast there. It didn't hurt that the Kraken were so bad that the Blackhawks killed them, despite being not-so-great themselves.

I finally adopted an NBA team in 2010, too - the Memphis Grizzlies. Always hated the Bulls while living in Chicago but love the Grizz!

Yep - At least root for Caps, Nats, and Wizards in those situations. A bit indifferent when Giants and Commanders face off.

0 clue why - probably just gravitated to a great player when I started watching the sport or something, but I am a Penguins, Mariners, and Patriots fan. I am sure I was a bit of a bandwagon fan when I first started watching, but those have been my teams for decades and it won't change now.

Great mix today! I've been listening with the game muted, which is an excellent way to watch a game. Didn't realize there were so many terrific songs I already knew on here, plus there were some good new ones. Regarding the thought-they-were-new-to-me songs:

- Turned out I already knew the Leo Sayer, Stranglers and Elastica songs and liked them a lot, but my favorite that I didn't recognize until it played was "Hurdy Gurdy Man" by Donovan. Freaky. Thought at first that my speaker was going out.
- Enjoyed quite a bit the songs from Magazine and The Fall.
- Favorite of the day was...from a female singer! That Kate Rusby song was special, and I'll check out more of her stuff.

I wouldn't have allowed it in this countdown. The song was the same but remixed, even though the crediting on the single was different in the US. The UK version was first and I would have considered the crediting there definitive. Not saying the idiots did it wrong, but just a different ruling than I would have made. She told me she loves songs that tell a story and Difford & Tilbrook are masters of the craft. This is a simple tale of boy meets girl, they fall in love and have a baby but the little details and humorous couplets make this song a classic.

I was surprised to see this one make her list but it's a banger. She called me in a tizzy earlier this week a couple days into the countdown thinking she'd have to repick for this song because the rap verse was done by an American. I explained krista's vetting process and all was well.

Eephus: Stay With Me – Faces
It's hard to get more rock 'n roll than a one night stand and this song is pure excitement. Everything works together well, the driving bassline, the crazed Wurlitzer piano and the two guitars ripping in either ear. Rod's hoots and hollers are the icing on the cake. I love how the song just keeps getting wilder and wilder at the end.

I never listened to Faces in high school or college but my first roommate in SF had a few of their albums that we played incessantly. Hope Cathryn is doing well whereever she is.

A little late, but this song became a favorite when I saw the live performance via The Brits back in 2006. I loved the kid's choir and the visuals (at the time I didn't realize Gorillaz used avatars as part of their act). BBC America was a staple in our household growing up and it brought back fond memories of when they actually showed cool stuff instead of neverending loops of Top Gear.
