Some
very early teasers and answers. I'm posting these mostly because some of you made guesses at them, either publicly or via PM to me. I'm not going to post your guesses in order to protect your pride.

Again, these are extremely early so are not spoilers as a lot changed between the first five lists and the total of 45.
From December 21 (partial list - I'm withholding a couple of the questions as they would be spoilers):
- In addition to the Big Three, there are six additional artists that have been listed four times each. One of those was, IIRC, not listed in the guesses for top choices. This artist is currently at #5 and has three votes for the same song, which is currently the second-ranked song in the countdown.
Answers: David Bowie, The Clash, Elton John, The Who, The Smiths, Elvis Costello
The Clash – London Calling
- The current "we like you, but we don't
like like you" artist has four votes accounting for only 50 total points. In contrast, the highest number of points right now (also with four votes) is 109.
Answers: Elvis Costello (50), The Beatles (109)
- On the other hand, the "when we love you, we really love you" award goes to an artist with 80 points but only three votes.
Answer: Pink Floyd
Later, from December 23, with ten lists tabulated (again, very early and
would change):
- Our Big Three each have made nine of 10 lists. We have another artist that also has made nine of 10 lists – and has moved into the #4 slot as a result (The Who) - and another that has shown up on eight but is lagging in 8th place (
David Bowie).
- The “when we love them we really love them” artist previously mentioned still has only shown up on five ballots, but with enough support to sit in fifth place. (Pink Floyd)
- There is a second tier forming now of seven artists currently holding 122-197 points (
The Who, Pink Floyd, Elton John, The Clash, David Bowie, The Kinks, Radiohead). The next artist down from there has fewer than 100 points, including one surprising underachiever (
U2).
- There is a new leader for our Ace Award (most points for an artist with only one song taken), but I expect this artist to get more songs selected.
(Romeo and Juliet – Dire Straits) Then again, I would have said the same for Cheap Trick.
