Speaking of pencils, did you guys ever have pencil fights when you were in school or was that just localized idiocy in my area?

we mostly just threw them and got them stuck in the ceiling tiles take that to the bank brochacho

David Letterman used to do this while going to commercial break.

Johnny Carson used to have custom made pencils with erasers on both ends so he could drum along with the band.

We used to take paper clips, unwind them and fashion them into like a fish-hook type shape, then put a rubber band between our thumbs and index finger, lace the loop of the paper clip on the stretched out band, pull back like a sling-shot and let her rip! I once did this in 7th grade math class and hit my buddy Johnathan Holt right in the nose across the way. He had no idea what hit him, but he looked up and the back of the paper clip was lodged in his nose so it was sticking out of the tip of his nose as he yelped out loud. Mrs. Newman sent me to the principal's office for that.

Worth it.

We called those bush-whackers. School popo came down hard on those. Less hard on the tack on the seat for some reason.

In grade school we would put pins in the end of pen caps, put the caps on paper airplanes and fire them down at the kids coming up the stairs. One bullseye in my career, kid had a paper airplane sticking straight up off his melon.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Losing track of where I’m responding but right now I’m doing ok.

Funeral will be Saturday, it’s going to be tough. My mom is taking it really hard, the first time she sees him in the casket is going to be brutal. I know I will lose it myself. In a way it hasn’t set in, I know he’s gone, but for me seeing him will really have the finality hit home

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Losing track of where I’m responding but right now I’m doing ok.

Funeral will be Saturday, it’s going to be tough. My mom is taking it really hard, the first time she sees him in the casket is going to be brutal. I know I will lose it myself. In a way it hasn’t set in, I know he’s gone, but for me seeing him will really have the finality hit home

For what it's worth, I remember not wanting to have a funeral when my brother died. I didn't want to see people.

I know it's different for everyone, but for me, it was helpful to mark the event. It's almost like a group hug type thing as goofy as that sounds.

I hope and pray that through the pain of it, you're able to have a similar experience.

I don't know of any line stepping. And I didn't see anyone offended in that thread. Your post in the other thread saying hypocrisy was a tenant of my faith was disappointing but as I said, I'm sorry we've represented so poorly to make you think something like that.

I don't know that my life would change if there were extraterrestrials influencing society. I guess it would depend on what they're influencing.
