Just an FYI, stay away from the hippos in Botswana. Son-in-law of a family friend apparently got gored (I have no idea what the correct term is) a day or two ago.
Just expand this to stay away from Hippos period, they kill a lot of humans per year, roughly 500.

I tussled with a hippo or two back in the day and lived to tell the tale. :bag:
My encounters were not on the African plains but rather at after hours party where alcohol and questionable decisions were aplenty.
That’s someone’s daughter

That seems a lot given the relative dearth of articles on hippo attacks on the web (I may have gone down that rabbit hole). I do know the few youtube videos out there are downright terrifying. I guess boat sneak attacks are not uncommon (which I guess makes sense given how territorial they are), but they just explode out of the water. They seem so nice and docile at the San Diego zoo.

It's San Diego. Everybody there is mellow. Probably because they're all on grass, even the hippos.

Staying at another (yes another) haunted hotel, this time in beautiful Flagstaff, AZ. I happened upon one in Fresno a few months ago, and instead of the usual Courtyard by Marriott or something, I opted for an older downtown hotel here in Flagstaff. Got to the front desk and they had flyers for ghost tours at the hotel. Definitely haunted! Will report back after my sleep tonight.

Don't get 2 sheets to the wind.

Oops. I had a "few" IPAs and being at 7000 ft. really knocked me good.

Nothing to report spook-wise. I am VERY paranormal-sensitive, too.

How are original triscuits still a thing? They're essentially inedible and are useless as a snack except as a way to hold a dip or appetizer of some kind. The texture is like a mix of sand, cardboard and twine. Literally all other chips or crackers, and all other flavors of triscuits, are superior to the original unflavored product both as a standalone snack and as a delivery system for dips and appetizers.

They sprung my pops! Surgery not needed!

His leg is a freaking mess though. Few stitches on the big punctures. And his leg is mostly purple. Dark purple. Circulation is a problem for him normally, so this bears close monitoring. They’re going to have to stop/start his eliquis so that the damn thing will heal. That’s the concern now. He teared up in the ER with my mom not knowing what was going to happen. Rough to watch.

He told me to call the cop son, of his deceased best friend, and tell him to go shoot that ****ing dog. :lmao:

Got a bomb dropped on us on Tuesday by our landlord of 10+ years.... "they need the house back".

We have had the sweetest of deals on a house big enough for the four of us for the past decade-plus, close to the kids' schools, etc., and now we are forced to try finding another rental (which will probably be WAY more than we currently pay) or figure out a way to buy a place, which would mean we probably have to find something further away from the kids' schools and shuttle them to/from every day. Yikes.

This also means my MIL is likely going to move out from Louisiana and live with us in a MIL unit or separate quarters of some kind. I don't know what I feel about that, but she's getting up there in age and lost half her leg to diabetes so is having trouble getting around, etc.

Mainly it's just making my anxiety (which is already very high) skyrocket. We have 10 years' worth of crap accumulated in this house, but are very balanced life-wise. It's going to be an interesting couple of months as we do this transition, which may be moving in with my mom (she has the room) for a couple of months while we look. Sucks.

glad no surgery is needed and the medication pause is scary but they will monitor him and they have a host of ways to deal with if numbers get out of whack so good vibes brother

best wishes and in the end just have the view that you got a screaming deal for a decade which is good and that even though adding someone to the household is stressful its the right and good thing to do and your kids will have an extra babysitter change is hard but it can be good if you stay on the sunny side

Aw Man. That sucks, GB. Hang in there and best to you as you navigate.
