GM's thread about nothing (86 Viewers)

Well now Krista is making me blush. One interesting thing for me about the weekend was that there were several unique styles of good time party drunks there, but everyone got along pretty darn well. I think Guster would be at the top of my list of guys to get hammered with in the future, though it would likely cause my wife to get very angry.
I really have to meet this Angry Wife. I've been fascinated by this for years.
The lack of an Angry Wife cameo was the biggest (perhaps only) coshole disappointment tbh.

I like Austin a lot. Reminds me of Madison or Ashville or something along those lines. Hard to believe a little liberal outpost exists in Texas.
The cities really aren't all that conservative. Most of the people I know aren't really Texans, but still...Despite getting trounced overall, Obama carried the four biggest counties in Texas - Dallas, Harris (Houston), Bexar (San Antonio), and Travis (Austin).

This Romo who doesn't look like Romo guy seems a little too wound up to be any fun. Amirite?
I liked him quite a bit.
Guy was extremely patient with all of us (especially you). I'm still not sure how YSR convinced him this trip was a good idea. Very nice guy. Sounds like he's from Tennessee or something. I think I saw him drink once. He was kind enough to deal the entire seemingly endless poker tournament. Also, he's some sort of idiot savant when it comes to knowing the line of every contest of any type. "Hey Romo, did Duquesne cover against Iona?" "Yeah, they won by 4... spread was 3.5... I was on the moneyline."

What's with this Pickles coy I-don't-live-where-I've-said-I've-lived-for-years shtick?
I moved.
When? Where? What are you doing now?
I feel like explaining this to you would only foster more confusion. You're friends with me on Facebook and LinkedIn, yet this is somehow a mystery to you.
I don't recall seeing anything on Facebook. You really think I'm studying career paths of my linkedin "friends"?But I just checked. Job description seems pretty made up.
:goodposting: No way any of those words on your LinkedIn are real things.

Research topics: nanoparticle synthesis and applications, colloidal and interfacial phenomena, biomedical engineering, bioconjugate chemistry, spectroscopy

:loco:

Congrats! Have you cornholed SLB yet?

Seattle traffic is the pits, but people are pretty considerate drivers there.
I refuse to believe anything can be worse than than LA. Think of a much larger city than Seattle, with zero effective mass transit, populated by 10+ million self-important drama queens (even the rigger on the set of Honey Boo Boo is convinced he's a future billionaire Oscar winner). Nobody is a considerate driver. The traffic never ends. Throw in the added spice of the worst racial tension in America (you'd be amazed at the racist stuff shouted on the roads) and LA is Traffic Hell.
I don't like any place conservative. I don't like any place religious. I don't like any place with low IQs, or bad drivers, or people who have never lived anywhere else in their ####### lives, or who like chain restaurants or monster trucks. I think my needs are simple. Whatcha got?
I'll make a weak entry for Ithaca. It's as liberal as it gets, uber-educated (the average IQ must be among the highest in the nation, I'd think), venerates the arts and boosts 4+ theaters, 2 dedicated to local stuff, 2 drawing fairly impressive names for a small town, lots of used bookstores, good author readings put on by Cornell's MFA program (I know you dig poets), great classical music due to Ithaca College's outstanding music program AND great indie rock bands playing Cornell, super considerate people, very religiously tolerant with various Christian denominations here as well as eastern North America's HQ monastery of Tibetian Buddhists, a strip of good restaurants (snot sure it's K4 standards, but it's very culturally diverse) as well as an awesome grocery (Wegmans) and an outstanding farmer's market due to lots of local farming powered by Cornell's agriculture school, great cultural events in the Ithaca Commons all summer - one day a Celtic folk band will be playing, the next a Latin ensemble with the crowd tangoing and shaking hips in merengue, fairly affordable (especially if you buy a house), and there's zero traffic.

The only downer is the lack of professional employment, though with your creds you can just wiggle your nose like Samantha and make a job appear.

So what do you say, future neighbor? :)

ETA: there's an iron law on the books here that has banned all chain restaurants (except a lonely Starbucks) to the outer edges of the city. The main strip is all independent and locally owned. I bet Mr. K4 could open his own restaurant here and make gazillions.

Someone should have asked him how bad he'd beat Walsh and May within earshot of YSR and Krista. That could have been the conversation of the weekend. :lmao:

I'm actually a bit surprised to find out this morning that there was an MH3.I remember vegashole, MH1, MH2. I'm not surprised I disappointed anyone on any of those trips. That's my life story.

:goodposting:I like Romo a lot. I'm normally that one guy that can't get enough of whatever game is being played. It was cool having someone like that there. It was uncool that he was so much better. I have a feeling, given time, he would have lapped us in bocce as well.

My house is on the market as of today. It's sickly fascinating to see how my home is marketed. I understand this is what I wish to do and it's part of the process, but giving up one's home to strangers is always surprisingly wrenching. :(
Did you land a new job?

WTF? Where the hell have you been driving? I've never experienced racism on the roads, other than my own grumblings about Asianed drivers' complete and total lack of situational awareness but that's a given.

Hollywood/Silverlake/Echo Park is not Pasadena, my friend. Pasadena is soft and cuddly Suburban MILFville (I'm a big fan). When I cruised the 101 at 15 mph and people cut people off, you'd hear a nice variety of stuff, from gringo to other things. Most of the racist stuff came from people of color, to be honest. I think the succession of riots made LA white folk retreat their racism to behind closed doors.

Paypal to Winebat sent for staff tip. I hope they are still located in Texas. :hophead:
Long dead, bank account closed. request refund. Sentiments appreciated. Edit to add: Never mind. I was able to pull it out with a few security questions.thanks
