Identity theft and its family is a ####
oof. Sorry dude. How did it happen?
apartment building we lived in during our time in Seattle was burglarized in late January. Crooks forced entry in the middle of the night and stole 3 flat screen tvs from the common area and fitness area, along with some other stuff. Worst part is they smashed open a locked file cabinet and stole the file that had all of our information in it. I put a fraud alert on my SS# through the credit agencies as soon as I heard but things were quiet for awhile and I hoped nothing would come of it. Then last week I started getting calls from places to verify my identity saying that someone had been using my info to try and open up lines of credit. I requested copies of my credit report and saw tons of activity. Started following up with each company one by one today. Most were unsuccessful applications for credit, but I guess they got a card open through Best Buy and rang up a $6000 charge. Supposedly, I won't be liable for that and they are opening an investigation. Of more concern is that one of the items was for the Boeing Credit Union and they wouldn't tell me anything without me submitting a notarized 6-page affidavit and police report since I can't show up in person to WA state to verify my identify. The woman seemed pretty concerned over the phone but couldn't give me any details on what actually happened. She said it wasn't a line of credit, so I can only assume they got some type of loan or something? Anyway, during my investigation, I also found out that the bad guys had signed up for one of those credit monitoring services using my information and some random credit card to pay for it. So, they had access to my full credit report online I think and I'm pretty sure they used that information to verify my identity with Best Buy and the Credit Union to get those through. Not really sure what else they may have done or have access to . My wife also got a call but there haven't been nearly as many signs of activity with her information as there have been with mine. Really sucks.
A girl I used to have a crush on used to be an identity theft restoration professional. Wpuld you like me to ping her or do you have it under control?

This shtick hasn't run its course yet?

Speaking of volunteering coaching, Saturday is my son's first baseball practice. I'm head coaching for the first time. This is league is a coach/kid pitch mix. I'm not even sure I can get the ball over the plate.
What time are your practices??

How old?
2nd graders.
I imagine the opposing pitcher won't be able to get it over the plate either, so you are good. On a serious note, spend a TON of time teaching the pitcher, shortstop, and second baseman how to field grounder and throw to first. A ton of time. This is 95% of the outs at that age (aside from strike outs).

You should be able to get them out with little problem. Probably wont even need a curve, just mix speeds.
It also wouldn't hurt to brush back the first hitter.

Holy crap. Just finished my first day at the new firm. Left for work at 7, got home at 6:45, just wrapped up what needed to be done from home 3 hours later.

I'm digging the fact that I don't have to worry about paying my bills, but I'd just started getting used to working for myself and making my own hours.

Anyway, wasn't posting to complain...just wanted to thank a bunch of you jimtanners for the congrats and well-wishes, and for much sage advice from getting laid off six months ago through starting my own gig and then through the job hunt/interview/negotiation process. You're a great bunch of people, and some of the most exceptional degenerates I have the pleasure to say I've never met.

Our makor supplier sent a clearance sale list out this morning. Stuff is crazy discounted but most of it is furniture and I really don't need furniture. I did get 10 cartons of these http://www.biggestbook.com/search.jsp?Ntt=SH58501&N=0 for $18.60 and 100 of these http://www.biggestbook.com/search.jsp?Ntt=00910ea&N=0 for $15.00. :towelwave:
Cleanest dome in St Louis.
lolI can't pass up a deal and they are basically giving stuff away. For example this http://www.biggestbook.com/search.jsp?Ntt=ALEVA22R7248MY&N=0 is $33.70.
Any magnetic chalkboards?

My wife got a fitbit, and I wore it to work today. It was a pretty slow day, but I walked over 6 miles and climbed about 20 flights of stairs at work today. I knew I walked around a lot, but didn't quite realize it was that much.

Just caught a link to the FB page of Homie's bar. Discovered that most of the pics are of really good looking food. They have steak night! 3 course steak night for $27!

Now I'm starving with nothing in the house but tunafish, wheat thins, frosted shredded wheat, and microwave popcorn.

I probably should have planned for this possibility three weeks ago...
We make a good steak. My job is to get you so ####hammered that it becomes the best steak you've ever even smelled. That's not a managerial mandate, just my own perogative. :banned:

Most places out here cater to the rich and famous (and those trying desperately trying to be near the rich and famous)...Hey, let's pay $30 for a plate of pasta and $17 for a glass of chianti. $80 for some lobster and rice? SURE!!!

I work at a spectacularly great neighborhood bar. Insanely good wings, great burgers, great sandwiches, and stiff drinks. All fall and winter long, the locals have been keeping us going, as it is every year. The fishermen and mechanics and construction guys...my bar is where they come to drink and hang out. This is why I fell bass ackwards into one of the best jobs in the Hamptons. There are a million good summer jobs, but this place kicks ### year-round. Most places out here are desperately trying for the rich-and-famous crowd...we don't. They'll be here in the summer, but they'll just be other faces in the crowd when my bar is 4 deep.

job:

Meeting at 2pm today to discuss doing some consulting for the tech company that didn't want to hire me full time last week. I'm hoping we can come to some sort of agreement; I'd really like to work with them and the extra money would do wonders for my self-esteem.

The job possibility at Dell is moving really quickly. My friend (outside rep) has apparently sold his boss on the fact that I'm in such demand they need to get me interviewed before week's end or they risk losing me to another company. I should have an interview WEd or Thursday. If it's cool enough I'll wear the vest part of my 3-pc soot in honor of Coshole and the JimTanners.

Aaron> Sorry to hear about the break in and sucktitude of ID theft.

Have you considered becoming marginally poor like me? Nobody steals my ID, ever.

I've posted pleas on craigslist, stapled ads to telephone poles. TAKE MY STUDENT LOANS! HAVE MY ARTS DEGREE!

It never happens. :kicksrock:

That seriously looks awesome. All the more reason Mrs. CC and me need to make out there one night. Preferably on a Tuesday.

Thanks again to everyone for the tpw's. I'll drop the rest in tags so you can bypass it if you choose to.

It's looking more like he's not going to come back. The initial impression that we were given was that when his heart stopped, it was immediately restarted, so the risk of brain damage was low, but last night I found out that they don't know how long his heart was stopped, so they can't know the extent of the damage until they run an EKG, which is happening this morning.

His pupils are reactive, but his corneas are not, and he has no gag reflex.

We have no idea if he had a living will, a will, a dnr, or anything.

I wonder if the suspect wore his hat backwards while charging up debt under your identity.

:(

NOt to make things worse, but how is it that no one knows if he has a living will or a DNR?
A couple of reasons; he lives alone, far away from any family. Second, his personality is such that he will never give anyone a straight answer. He turns everything into a joke. My brother and I have both tried to talk to him about it in the past, because he has been unhealthy for years, and he won't be honest. My brother mentioned that during one conversation about it, my dad said just to be extra sure that he wasn't just taking a really good nap.

I like this cat. I speak that version of disassociation if you need a translator.

I don't think being poor would stop somebody from applying for credit in your name, unless your credit history is completely fubared as well.
