Good luck to "your" Reds, GB.

Hope all is well with you and the fam
Thanks buddy. I think my wife has finally turned a corner with her migraines. Long story, I'll explain later.
Please share. Mine has them nearly every day.
I'm sure they're in very different situations. It's not that my wife found a cure for her migraines, but rather that she has turned a corner to get her out of the horrible place she has been in for some time.

First-world/third-world rant.

With apologies to Guster for its length. ;)

We have, as y'all know, two houses in Granada, Nicaragua. We never get to visit these houses just to relax. There are always things to do or get done. This weekend was our first visit in 18+ months where I felt like we could just do nothing.

We arrived to find that, among other things, at one of the houses we had no cable or internet, the main bathroom toilet wouldn't flush, half the plants were dead...and so on. We haven't been to the other house yet.

We already knew we wanted to fire our property manager, but this sent us into the "must do now" realm. So again our "relaxing" vacation became a hassle of awful personnel stuff.

Then, we came to find out:

The manager (we'll call her "Jessica"), who is an American, without our knowledge told the cleaning lady and the pool guy at some point that she could not pay them every week. She pays them every 15 days, because "it's too much trouble to go to the bank every week". Now, she goes to the bank at least once a week and often twice a week for withdrawals to pay herself and for any bills or repairs we need. Then, as it turns out, she had not paid these people for over two weeks right now.

Carmen is our cleaning lady. She cleans one house 3 times per week and the other 3 times per week. She spends 4-5 hours at the house each day. For her 30ish hours per week of cleaning, she is paid the equivalent of ~$30 per week, which is considered a very good job and an above-average wage here. She's probably 35 but looks 70, and has four kids and fewer teeth than kids.

Carmen, shaking and nervous, approached us today because she has not been paid for so long and has an account at the pulperia that they will close off if she can't pay them. This literally means she will not eat. When she asked our manager to get paid and explained her credit issue, she was told she might get paid on Monday and that this is not their problem.

Pancho is the pool guy. He is known as the best pool guy in Granada and definitely is. He is paid about $20 per week to clean both pools 3x per week. He also does odd jobs--for instance, today he fixed a leaking toilet that had been flooding all over, and spent two hours on the job, for which he asked for about $8.50, including parts. He also has not been paid.

Both Carmen and Pancho were so nervous about taking money from us that they literally shook. Actually, literally, shaking. Both of them were worried that when Jessica found out she would be angry and fire them. I had to explain that they worked for us, not Jessica, and that we were happy with them.

HOW THE MOTHER#### DOES SOMEONE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE LIKE THIS? It's so distressing to see "gringos" constantly treat people the way they do. And frankly, richer Nicaraguans will do the same thing. The ugliness here is just incredible. Seems the Americans (sub Canadians or whatever for same effect) are here to prey on people, for the most part. Makes me ####### sick.

Anyway, Jessica is being fired tomorrow. Good ####### riddance, perra puta.

The only question I have is can Jessica be fired via shot video?
We should work on that. Gotta get something out of it.This mother####er has done such things as tell me that she doesn't want to read emails on weekends any more because it stresses her out. That should have been enough. Or the fact that in the eight months we've employed her, she's taken over two months of vacation. Oh, and WAIT, we learned from Pancho the pool guy that we have been paying to have her pool cleaned along with ours.

i'm getting inundated with links to allegedly "hilarious" gangnam videos. what is this and why is it everywhere?
Ever notice every time there's something remotely funny for some reason people feel the need to make their own version of it? Look dooshbags, if you were funny you would have been the one to make the original.

I was making a joke.Hope I didn't diminish my appreciation of you generosity. Humor has its price. Especially bad humor.

Sorry to hear GB SLB. Might want to delete that post though

Not really sure what to say other than I'm sure there is nothing that will truly help overcome your loss. Let your family know how much you love them. Every moment is precious. Oh, and don't do anything dumb out of rage... We need you around here

No idea what thread to put this in, but here's a freaking amazing tomato sauce recipe:

SAUCE (for 3 lbs of meat)

[*]2 boxes POMI chopped tomatoes (in tomato sauce section)

[*]2 boxes POMI strained tomatoes

[*]1 whole head freshly chopped garlic (approximately ¼ cup)

[*]2 tbls spice mixture (ground coriander, fennel seeds, allspice, garlic powder, black pepper)

[*]1 cup sweet cream sherry

[*]½ cup sugar

[*]½ cup extra virgin olive oil

[*]granulated garlic powder (to taste)

[*]1 cup water (maybe more as needed)

[*]2 tbps basil (dried or fresh)

[*]In large pot, add ½ cup olive oil, add ¼ cup garlic on low temperature, & 2 tbls basil.

[*]Add all 4 boxes of strained and chopped tomatoes.

[*]Add sherry and sugar, add additional salt and pepper as needed

[*]Let cook for about 1.5 hours.

[*]Add sauce to meat after 1.5 hours and continue to cook in sauce on low for another hour.

I'm having a hard time with this evening's game.

New Orleans seems to be in a bit of a death spiral and I tend to avoid that situation, esp. when they're favored by 4.5

So I would typically take the dog moneyline here and parlay it with the o/u situation most likely if that happens (U). That would pay about 3.5 to 4:1. I like me some odds.

But on the other hand, NO is going to hit back sometime and hit hard. Brees is probably still well-motivated by the snubbing the Chargers gave him and would dearly love to outplay Rivers. Big.

And the wild card is that one of my preferred bars, the SHoal Creek Saloon is a New Orleans hangout. Watching a game there and pulling for the Saints is a blast.

There is no similar venue that would provide a comparable experience pulling for the Chargers.

WFIW, I'm on the over (and only the over)

I'm on the Chargers ML, which probably means they will lose

sweet

Tail Gushy on the ML and fade the Tigger in a parlay?

I don't know - I am really afraid of Brees tonight. And the line seems too funny. No way they should be 0-4 and favored by 4.5

NOT GETTING MUCH HELP HERE
 I don't know about the over, that's a premium price to pay. Who isn't gonna be on it? Drunks and donks and chasers, oh my; they all gotta be calling in right now for a matchup like this. (I'm all three, btw.) It's a made-to-order Sunday Night bloodbath for the books, imo.

I'll probly just take the under and sweat it out with my Tarkanian Towel the next three hours.

It'll be tied at 21 at half, btw. HTH.
